Allison Ann wrote: "It is almost time for me to go to work and I am exhausted and ready for bed again. The worst thing about this time of year is how ridiculously early I wake up. In my head I am yelling at myself "..."I can't stand that Allison Ann. Three nights this last week, I was unable to sleep well. One night just three hours. It's the worst. I feel your pain!
The weather is beautiful here too. It's like summer weather here in the Pacific Northwest. Sorry about the snow. That is not fair!
Diane ~Firefly~ wrote: "I really wanted to like this book, but it was just ok. Mostly due to loving the supporting characters and not really caring about the main ones."Booo. It's sad when that happens. I have read quite a few books that I was disappointed about when I thought they'd be so good and I really wanted to like them more. I'm struggling with Mistborn because of that. Everyone loves it and here I am struggling with it. Hopefully the next read will be better for you.
Good morning, team! Just waking up (Friday is my late shift at work). I have to run my son to a couple of school events today but should finish up my book this afternoon. I'll update as soon as I'm finished.

Michelle wrote: "Good morning, team! Just waking up (Friday is my late shift at work). I have to run my son to a couple of school events today but should finish up my book this afternoon. I'll update as soon as I..."Have fun Michelle. :)
I've checked all the bookshelves. We have all books accounted for. I've updated the spreadsheets. 505 points and right now I'm working on my BotM with DQs. That will give us 30 points (for book points and DQs).
I've changed my mind. My library book for The Fabric of the Cosmos is due on the 22nd. I will not be able to count it for week 5 since it is a nonfiction book. I want all the points possible so I'm going to finish it for my 11th book. It's a 20 point book.I'm going to hold off on finishing the BotM and it will be my first book for week 5 that I'll have finished tonight. :)
I have finished my final book for the week...a re-read of one of my top ten all-time favorites for a book club read.It does not contribute much toward letter choices (sorry).

That is wonderful Cheryl. Your book was the last letter for our third spell out of Changeables. It was perfect! It's missing in your bookshelf. Is it possible that you may add it to your bookshelf?
Our total points so far is 515. Three Spell outs of Changeables. :)
Spreadsheets are updated.
Sorry. I was making sure I had gotten it into all of my challenges before I move it to the "read" category. I have done it, now.

Anonymous Lawyer by Jeremy Blachman
288 pages
The premis of the book is that a high powered attorney writes an anonymous blog about the firm he works for. All the characters are referred to as a descriptive trait. ie. the musician, the tax guy, the suck-up. The characters i listed do have speaking parts and are important to the story. The book is wickedly hilarious with a lot of "I can't believe he just said that"

Updated on Spreadsheet and my bookshelf.
(I'm done reading for today.) Have fun ladies we did well. Still 1st place.
Great week everyone. :)Thanks for your grenade jumping Rachel. This hockey game is making me homicidal/suicidal, I may have to abandon it for some reading. I am going to read short books this week. :) Maybe one or two big ones if I can find any that aren't historical fiction. :)
I have a grey cover
. I have to read one other book first, so if someone else gets to it first that's cool.

Allison Ann wrote: "I have a grey cover

Finished my first of four for the week. It is a non-fiction, so not many choices for letters (in fact, it only works for one!), but it was one of my very favorite books when I was a teenager. Extremely impactful! It still impacted me the same way, although there were a couple of things that annoyed me that probably did not back then. I ended up going out and doing a search for it on Amazon and bought enough copies for the next time it is my turn to choose for my local book club.book: Dibs In Search of Self

I am beginning The Optimist's Daughter by Eudora Welty, so that will at least work for an O or E along with a C, L, or N.
I am hoping that I can get 3 read quickly this week so I can finish my 800 page Dickens novel which works for every letter except the I.
Almost no options for this one either. I'll finish my grey book today. Book - The Good Luck of Right Now by Matthew Quick - 304 pages - 3 stars

Allison Ann wrote: "I never get picked for anything, but at least we will get Michelle's points for next week and we already have yours for this week (for the other book). Pretty good result."The bummer part is that only Michelle's or my DQs will count, unfortunately both can't. Good news is that it takes a slot from another team, so think of it as blocking another team of 20 points.
That's the way I saw it, too. My slot kept another team from getting 20 points! I was shocked I drew a slot--I never win anything.
When the challenges are going on, I normally get a spot but a few times I will not. Mainly because everyone wants the extra 20 points. I did tons of DQs for the TT challenge. It sure brought in the points. I don't think we would have been 3rd place without those points. I also mainly read BRs to get points too. Those extra points really do help. The 23rd is a really tough day for me to do my DQs. I will do mine on the 22nd then post them before I got to bed that day. I work on the 23rd from 7:15am to 8:15pm. That's my plan so I'll be starting the book tomorrow.

I love Dick Francis. One of my favorite authors of all time!I have 2 finished but I am late for work. I'll update letters tonight for us.
I love Francis too. I used to have a ton of his books in hardcover, lots from my dad and others I had bought back when I was an independently wealthy teenager with no monthly payments of any kind. Unfortunately that was one of the boxes that went missing when I moved. Broke my heart. Thank goodness for used book stores and cheap paperbacks. :D
