Hello everyone. I am Rachel and your co-captain for team Ruby. I am excited to be apart of the team and this group challenge. I check up on Goodreads about twice a day (at least) and my Time Zone is PST. I read about 20 books a month, but sometimes more. My favorite genres are horror, thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, and nonfiction.
Wheel-A-Thon II bookshelf: 12-Wheel-A-Thon
Happy reading everyone.
Hi everyone! I will be captaining with Rachel. This should be a lot of fun. I read around 15-20 books per month and read almost every genre. Looking forward to chatting about books with you all!
Hi, I'm Mollie. This is my second time in the wheelathon challenge and I'm looking forward to powering through some books. I usually read six or seven books in a month although lately I have been struggling. (My landlords put in free cable for the whole complex in February. I've been distracted.) I'm hoping this challenge will kick start my reading like it did last time.I'm on Saskatchewan time which lines up with MST right now. I usually come on line around this time in the evening.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone :)
Hi team, I'm looking competing with you. I'm in CST time zone and read around 7 books a month. My favorite genres are UF, cozy mysteries, romance and PNR.
Hello Michelle, Mollie, and Diane. :)Mollie, this is my first Wheel-A-Thon. I heard it was a lot of fun. I just had to join.
It's great to meet you all. I was looking at our spreadsheet and saw a word, Shamrock.

Yes, your first word is Shamrock. If you look at page two on the spreadsheet, there is the list of all the possible spell it out words and the corresponding cover colour that you will get bonus points for (green for Shamrock).
I'm currently reading a few books. One of the books I'm reading qualifies for a green covered book. I used the Image Color Extract. It is +50% combining the different shades of green on the cover,
, it's also +500 pages.I should be able to fit in 6-10 books for the first week. I plan on having these books finished on the 22nd.

Hi Everyone! I'll be your friendly Red Rock Mod Mentor for this round of Wheel-a-thon. You can usually find me in the Jasper thread, but I will pop in here too to see how you are all going. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Yep. Best strategy is to get a few books started now but put off finishing them until during the first week. You won't have this much prep time for the rest of the challenge.
Hello team! I'm Allison. Rachel gave me a nudge, didn't realize we had teams already. Glad to be a red rock. My birthstone is red. :D Looking forward to this challenge, although I am very bad at starting books and saving them up, I do read 5-6 books a week anyway, so that should be good enough, though rarely are they over 500 pages. I live in NW Ontario, Canada, CST and I generally get home from work around now and go online while dinner cooks. If I'm organized I'll check in mornings before work, but I have no access to internet while I'm at work, so I'm a twice a day kind of gal. ;) I know I have at least two green cover books on my to-read list that will work for letters C and S, not sure about character names. I don't think I'll have trouble finding any other letters either.
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know you all - Michelle, Mollie, Diane and Cheryl. Rachel and I just struggled through TT together so we are old war buddies. Are we a chatty or non-chatty group, anyone know? I'll probably be fairly chatty anyway. As you can tell by my rambling. Okay, chicken smells done, be back later.
I'll be fairly chatty as well, Allison Ann! Just sent you a friend request. Looking forward to getting great book recommendations from you all. I found a great series from Tower Teams that I might not have read otherwise. It's part of the reason why I love these team challenges.
Hey there Allison Ann. I was wondering when you'd stop by. Yeah, old war buddies is right. Oh goodness, the good thing is those thundercats are split up. :P Imagine going against them again. They were major reading machines! Amazing. Just whipping through those books and I felt all I did was read. How the heck were they able to read so much?!I looked to see what we signed up as chatty or non-chatty. The majority of us signed up as "I don't care". I'm one of those "I don't care". There was a person that said they didn't want to be in a chatty group. So, we are semi-chatty?
You, know me Allison Ann I chat if others do but really don't if others don't. I can go either way.
Michelle what team were you on in the Tower Team challenge? Are you a thundercat? or Chickadee LOL
RachelvlehcaR wrote: "Hey there Allison Ann. I was wondering when you'd stop by. Yeah, old war buddies is right. Oh goodness, the good thing is those thundercats are split up. :P Imagine going against them again. T..."I was a Witch for the last TT. We were middle of the pack the entire game. And not too chatty, but I can go either way. I'll definitely be checking in daily to see how the reading is going!
Michelle, I've added them to the tracking spreadsheet. I've noticed just from my books 'O' and 'K' are harder letters to find. I'll keep an eye out on characters that start with those letters.
I'm reading a book right now Kill All the Judges that I'm not particularly enjoying, so I can probably slow it down to end after the 22nd. In real life the cover is even a very pale seafoam-y green, though it doesn't look it at all online. I'm also due for another Kevin O'Brien book any day now, so that's good for a couple of Ks and Os. I'll swing by the library tomorrow and stock up.
I'll add the Kill All the Judges and Kevin O'Brien (just leaving the title blank) for you Allison Ann. If things change, it's a simple change. Looks like we are on our way.
I just noticed that we get extra points for BotM questions. It seems like I always hate the books chosen for BotM so I'm hoping someone else will be willing to jump on that grenade. :DExample - Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West is one of the most boring books I have ever read in my life and by read I mean try to read and fall asleep on page 3. Repeatedly.
I noticed that too. In TT I always did the BOM (other that the two I refused to touch). I'm kind of burnt out on BOTM. I know that they are an extra 20 points and boy do we know that those 20 points count. I just don't know if I want to take part in them this time. I did mark Wicked to read and it's in my library book bag with a few other books. I don't know if I want to crack it open. It's already past BOM DQ time. I read the Martian already. If there is a good Sci-fi or Fantasy book picked out I'll read it. I will not read YA books. I've had my fill of those in TT. I feel like I'd rather have my eye balls spooned out. :P No more YA romance!!!! I'm 37, I'm beyond that. If I read a romancey book I want follow through on it!
Okay with all that said, I joined the BOM All the Light We Cannot See. I Buddy Read friend bought me the book for me on my birthday or christmas (I can't remember, he buys me a lot of books) :P I need to read it and might as well for an extra 20 points. I signed up for the 25th.
Dang, the things I do for these challenges. I also signed up for the other one that was giving out the books for free. It's a Romance. :( I don't like most romance. I think this one will be like pulling teeth. I will push forward and drop myself on that grenade. At least it's shorter and an extra 20 points if I make the random generate.
Oh the horrors. I actually read a "romance" that I hated more this week, but it was the traditional awful romance with the asshole rapist "hero" and the pitiful, weak "heroine". Me Before You was awful in a much more special and unique manner.
Ouch, that's bad. You know I loved Outlander the first time I read it. I was 17. It was two decades ago. Now that I reread it, my feelings have changed. I'm trying to get through the second book and it's taking forever. I'm very bummed that this book series that I loved then isn't holding up to what I remember. It's like that saying that all memories soften as we get older.
I'm sorry, I can't protect you from the rabid Jamie fans. :DI think I was 20/21 the first time I read Outlander and I loved it too but it was the time travel and the history I particularly loved, the romance didn't really do much for me. I still like it though. I've read all the other books in the series and they are hit and miss for me, some boring, some interesting. I tend to skim the sex scenes and the war scenes as it feels like she just copy/pastes them. Kind of like Jean M. Auel's Earth's Children series. Love the travel and medicine and personal interactions, skip the sex and fighting. :)
It was the time travel and history I loved too. I liked the romance too but I was 17. I haven't watched the TV series yet, I'm kind of staying clear of it. I say it's now a 2.5 rating book for me. It's in-between and okay and like.
Wow! Hi everyone! I am way behind in showing up here!!! I am a volunteer lobbyist for children's issues for the Utah PTA (I am the Education Commissioner for the Utah PTA) and our legislative session just ended at the end of last week. I have not been able to get much reading done in the last 45 days as a result and so I am raring to go! I usually get between 10-20 books read in a month. My favorite genre is historical fiction.I have begun 3 books. One is 631 pages, and I will finish that one. One is an 800 page book, but I am not positive I will finish it this week. I will try. Here is what I am reading:
: S,H,A,R,K
: H,A,C (631 pages)
: H,R,O,C (801 pages)
Nice to meet you Cheryl. A volunteer lobbyist, wow that takes up a lot of time. I can understand why you didn't get a lot of reading in during that time. I'm happy you are finished with it and able to relax a little but another session is around the corner and creeping up sooner than you think. I enjoy historical fiction too. I love learned about the time periods. I like history too, and will read a lot of non-fiction books. I'm not a Jane Austen fan. I have only read two of her books but there is that Jane Austen challenge here and I joined it. I love one of the books I read by her then the other book I read, I didn't like. I was annoyed and felt it was a lot of reading about nothing--well, gossip. So, to challenge myself I checked out a bio on her. It's about her life in the countryside and I'm loving it. The way it's written is like they picked a family to show what life was like for them. I had no idea that when women have their children they would sent their child off to be fostered until the child is potty trained and weened from the wet nurse. The parents still visit but someone else is raising the children. I was surprised. I never knew that happened during then. I understand that with royalty during that time but it was odd for even the middle and labor class to do so. That's how Jane was raised at the time. Anyway, I'm hoping after reading these bios I will reread the book and read her other books to see if my view changes.
Well, now that I'm totally off topic. I was wondering with one of your books listed,
Also, for The Red Tent, I found all what the letters were for S, A, R, K and I found M but I wasn't able to find H. Is it possible if you may also post what H is for so I may update that as well?
Thank you.
