Task 7. 43-June..."
Benita, your post says drafting - I'm not sure if that will confuse the issue when Kat does her checks.

Task 8 - 34. Read 6 books first published between 2000 and 2010.
Books selected for this task need to have been initially published between 1.1.2000 and 12.31.2010. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page, use that one. Otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the initial publication date in your completion posts.

Recommended to me by dear friend, this book is the story, told from one woman’s perspective, of a village in England that quarantined themselves to avoid the spread of the black plague in 1665-1666. It tells of a period of history I know little about but found fascinating.

Book: The China Bride by Mary Jo Putney
Qualification: (2000-2010) Jan. 1, 2000
Pages: 448
Date Completed: April 22, 2023
Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ historic romance, Regency UK & China
Mary Jo Putney's second book, and the second book in the five book Brides Trilogy series is richer in cultural and historic detail than many other historic romance authors. This book shares tidbits about Chinese culture at the height of the empire period.
In this book, a Chinese concubine travels to England to reunite with the man to whom she was briefly wed, while he awaited execution. Book has a complex, spiraling multiple timeline structure.
While book two in the series focuses on a twin, whose brother is the hero of book one, it functions well as a stand alone and can be read out of order. Book two happens both before and after the events in book one if the series.
Audiobook is narrated by Dame Davina Porter, the Outlander narrator, who has won many Audie Awards.
Available on some libraries' HoopLa and Libby apos as ebook and audiobook.

Task 9 - 58. Read 6 books published in the year one of the teammates joined RRRC, teams decide which teammate.
Books selected for this task need to be initially published in a year one member of the team joined RRRC (not GR), the teams decide which member. You can find the year you joined RRRC on the members page for the group. Make sure you use the initial publication date for this task. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page use it, otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include the selected teammate, the year they joined RRRC and the initial publication date of you chosen books in your completion posts.

#7 of the 8 book Amish Candy shop mystery series...small town, no sex, Amish, a tiny bit of romance, mystery. Lightly Christian.
I have done a few of the books in this series, out of order. Because of the author's ability to write in key descriptive phrases, the plot was easy to follow. Of course, you have a spoilers issue if you read out of order, so it is more enjoyable to do the series in publication order.
In this book, a elderly female hanging judge (80+) returns to town, with her much younger boyfriend, only to see the boy-toy be murdered. Chief suspect is the judges daughter, the town's 1 person Chamber of Commerce.

Rating/Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Third in a series and my least favorite book of the series. These characters were not likable at all and partly because it was the third book you knew how it all was going to resolve itself. I’m not sure that would read anything else by this author but I have a hard time not finishing a series once I have started it and there is one more book in this series.

Professions such as LEO, military or musicians are ok. Just don’t try to pass off a rancher and a chef as both being in the food industry - they are simply not close enough. A contemporary romance, it follows the story of a super stressed surgical resident (doctor) who must live out a fake engagement with her former financé as they do their annual vacation trip to Maine with friends. Plot uses a spiraling time line to include the history of the relationship. Audiobook narrator is the wonderful Julia Whelan.

Thanks! It’s just how Kat structures her challenges. It’s in the full description of the tasks “ Please include the selected profession in your completions post and to let me know how you know the book qualifies - title, precis, tags or lists, including links and any other necessary information. I need to know where to look to confirm your books”. My guess is that sometime in the past she had people that tried to cheat on a challenge, why I don’t know, I mean I’m competitive but it’s still just a fun way to meet other readers, explore new books, and challenge yourself with goals.

The main reason you can't use something inside the book is that there is no way for me to check it. It has to be something I can check on GR and occasionally other websites. And yes, believe it or not, people will cheat. I don't care if people stretch meanings in personal challenges, but in team challenges it isn't fair to the other players.

The main reason you can't use something inside the book is that there is no way for me to check it. It has to be something I can check on GR and ..."
