@padma, did you enjoy Lie Down With Roses? it's not my favorite Heather Graham book, but I still liked it.
I'm binge reading The Belle of Belgrave Square ahead of time, and I have to recommend it to everyone!!! So, so good. I've seen fancasting for Jasper as Rufus Sewell and I totally agree with it.
Starting to read my bodice ripper book today. The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen E Woodiwiss . Medieval. Lots of pages , hope it’s not boring 🤞
Shaz I have that one picked out also. I read it ages and I mean ages ago and really liked it. Will be interested in your opinion as I have been in a bit of a HR slump lately and have only gotten a few pages in.
Merry, only read 2 pages up to now. Hubby and I are trying to find leak in central heating under the floor boards just had to take up wooden flooring. So it might take me a while to read this book . 🤷♀️😢
Like to know how you feel about story? Happy reading.
I hope you both like this book! One of my first br. I absolutely love this book, but now I can see some of the problems.
I'm having a hard time finding a book for the Edwardian era. I despise this era, so I'm looking for a novella. Any recommendations?
I was looking at that one bc I love JF books. Thanks for the recommendation;)I was thinking of trying Bliss by Judith Ivory, if I can find it. Is her books worth the hype?
I liked Beast and gave it 3.5 to 4 stars. I liked that it was a non-cliche HR. Sorry you didn't enjoy it, Shaz. My fave (so far) by Ivory is Sleeping Beauty. I really enjoyed that one. I also liked The Proposition, which is a re-do of the Pygmalion/My Fair Lady story (with genders reversed). Be warned though, the hero of that one is a ratcatcher LOL. It works, though.
I like Ivory although I haven't read all of her books yet. Her heroes and heroines feel very real as characters, and she has a distinctive writing style. I get that she's not for everyone, though.
Jan , 3 usually means it’s okay for me. 2 is a didn’t care much for it. 4 I enjoyed the read . 5 a keeper to read again at some point.
I can remember the story line of the Beast, so I must of enjoying some of it, but found it boring in part’s. 🤔😂
Lauren wrote: "I'm having a hard time finding a book for the Edwardian era. I despise this era, so I'm looking for a novella. Any recommendations?"@Lauren What about Snow Falling? It's pretty hilarious, especially if you liked Jane the Virgin as it's Jane's "book." Not sure if I know any novellas, but A Countess Below Stairs is my favourite for that time period. The Davenports came out this year. I might do Across the Blue or The Lost Heiress for Edwardian.

Absolutely wonderful Read Shaz!
Read Years by Lavyrle Spencer for January WWI - WWII theme. Set in 1917 to 1918. Great read .very poignant..I am reading this author for the first time. Looking forward to reading more of her books
If you guys have Kindle Unlimited this website has recommendations for Bodice Ripper/Vintage romances available on KU: https://sweetsavageflame.com/tag/kind...

Lauren wrote: "I'm having a hard time finding a book for the Edwardian era. I despise this era, so I'm looking for a novella. Any recommendations?"Last year I read Bliss by Judy Cuevas (Judith Ivory) which I really enjoyed. This year I'm planning to read either Think of England by K.J. Charles or one I recently found: The Songbird's Seduction by Connie Brockway.
If you're not a fan of the era, maybe choosing a book not set in the UK but still during that time will feel less "Edwardian"? For example Breathless by Laura Lee Guhrke.
I'm sorry I don't have any novella suggestions but maybe one of those will interest you!

Looking forward to reading mor..."I highly recommend Morning Glory which is set during WWII! I read that one for last year's challenge.
For this year, I just finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society which I absolutely loved although the romance in it was very secondary to the plot. I mostly chose it so that I could knock off the long title square in the BINGO challenge but I'm very glad I read it. 🤣
The Hearts of Briarwall is another Edwardian option, appears to be on the shorter side. I'm a bit behind with January's because I was waiting to get In Love's Time, but I read books in the Victorian, Georgian, Highlander, and the Stuart era to make up for it :p. I normally stay on track otherwise.
I am absolutely eating up In Love's Time for what I should have read in January--- the drama!!! Tropes:Class differences; the miscommunication trope (there's spies, so I like how it's done); amnesia (sucker for this one, but also spies so I especially like how it's done). There's also nursed back to health scenes and there's a child in the story. Very Downton Abbeyesque.Sylvesterwas an okay Regency read (shorter then I realized), but I'm hoping The Hellion and the Hero arrives at my library soon as I've heard it's good for Persuasion fans.

Lauren wrote: "In Love's Time looks really good. Can't wait for your review!"It was so good (review's up)! I also spontaneously read Murder at Morrington Hall. I'm not sure if Historical Mysteries with a healthy dose of romance fit into HR at all, but I enjoyed it and was set in the Edwardian period.

Welcome HRBC members to the 6th annual Romance Across The Ages challenge!
Better late than never, sorry for the delay, but let's read a lot of HR with this great challenge!
So, we have selected 2 random subgenres per month and we will be reading the same subgenres together. As usual, we've chosen for this year challenge: 24 subgenres and you can participate with at least 12 subgenres. The main goal is to read at least those 12 subgenres, but you can choose as many subgenres you like.
We will be tracking challenges here on the thread and on a challenge shelf.
See the Instructions below.
