Steph (angel4492) | 32741 comments Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo!

Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
2b ~ Post your team's stats on the Captain's Log prior to requesting a stamp
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week
4a ~ Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game

So, I keep track of our reading in here, then when we're ready for a stamp I post the tracking info in the Captain's Log Thread and then link to my Captain's Log post in the Stamp Request thread? Is that correct?

ETA: Somewhere there is a spreadsheet, right? And I'm supposed to check our card in post #4 against the spreadsheet to make sure the 2 agree?

Laura | 1168 comments For my Free Space book, I'm either going to read Big Bad Beast or Badger to the Bone, both which series are mentioned in the PNR thread, or Claimed by Shadow, mentioned in the UF thread. I'll see what tomorrow's call is, if any of these fit it, and what works best with my other challenges this week before making a final decision.

I obviously haven't read Badger to the Bone yet, but can you believe people have tagged it slow-burn? I can't imagine a Shelly Laurenston book I would classify as slow- burn!

And 28 different people tagged A Court of Wings and Ruin as slow-burn!

I need slow-burn tags for another challenge. :)

They probably checked the one on their team thread, and it didn't have any duplicates etc. We once had 2 teams with the same card, not good. LOL

Amazing what people will tag, sometimes it works for you and sometimes against.

And nope I wouldn't class any Shelly Laurenston or G.A. Aiken book as slow burn.

Review

Clive (vamp) & Sam (witch & werewolf) head to Paris for their honeymoon, before going to England to end the vampire Aldith. At least that's the plan.

Very soon after hitting Paris, Sam feels like she's being watched. She's used to using her powers to see vamps and its not till she's attacked that she realizes its the Fae she needs to worry about.

Lots of action & battles of all kinds, and the Fae Summer Queens' request from the previous book takes a sinister turn when the Winter King makes a nasty appearance.

Friends and allies, vamps, chess set, puppies & dragons are all needed to rescue the lost, kill the bad guys & solve the Queens' problems.

It's a pleasure to see Sam's growth over the books, from a shy book nerd, to being a happy, confident wife to Clive. Looking forward to the next book. And I've gotta say the dragon play cave sounds amazing!

Laura | 1168 comments Completion Post

Shelf #1 - Vampires
Book: The Viper
Date Read: 10/13
Rating: 5 stars
How it fits: MPG Vampires
Review: When I saw the first Prison Camp book, I wondered why I might want to read J.R. Ward's vampires in prison. But, of course, it turned out that I did. I love her writing! I love her unusual words and phrases that still manage to convey exactly what she means. I love her vampires, and I'm still searching every night for my hellren. I could totally handle one of these males! It was just a short scene but there was some lovely interaction between Vishous and Payne.

Shelf #0 - Free Space
Book: Claimed by Shadow
Date Read: 10/14
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: Cassandra Palmer series is #16 in the Urban Fantasy thread
Review: I can't believe it took me so long to find this series. I'm really loving it! Where and when will Cassandra's adventures take her next? I can't wait to find out. The characters are well written, the action progresses wonderfully and so far every novel ends comfortably without a major cliffhanger.

Review

Grier has put up with a lot lately. But she now has Boaz in her corner, or does she?

Amelie, his sister, and her BFF, has been sentenced to 6 months under Grier's roof by the Society Council, for her crimes. Amelie is going a little stir crazy, but is getting phone calls from Boaz every 2nd day. Meanwhile, Grier hasn't heard from him at all.

Linus is still in the Carriage House, giving Grier magic lessons every night, and feeding her before they start. I mentioned at the end of book #2's review I was Team Linus. That is doubly true now.

Wooly, the magic house is attacked; vampires keep trying to kidnap/kill Grier; Griers' cousin turns up out of the blue, and then there is Meiko, Linus' 2nd familiar. And Boaz is finally out of the picture, but Grier is left devastated by 2 betrayals.

Whilst there isn't a cliffhanger, I really want to read the next book right now.

I'm okay for right now. I'll give a holler if I need help. I promise I won't just disappear!

Basically, my husband and I are splitting after 25 years. I'm taking the kids to my mom's. So there may be days when I can't read, or can't get on my computer, but I always have the app to leave a message

And my kids. Too get way to personal, I found out yesterday that my oldest tried to hang herself. My #3 spent 2 hours on the roof before deciding not to jump (thank God! We live in a single story house. Wouldn't kill her, only mess up her life). And I already knew that my #4 had contemplated pills. I got her on antidepressants, but had to hide them from my husband.

So it's hard, but so necessary!
