Adam | 24 comments I recently finished one of the novels in the Dragon Age setting and now I'm over 100 pages into Star Wars: The Last Command.

He's a fun, action writer but no great thinker. It's like watching a dumb action movie.

Julia | 957 comments Susie asked/ said: I actually watched the TV series of Fingersmith several years ago. It was really good! I should really get around to reading the book, too! What were your thoughts on it?

I loved it! I now want very much to read all of Sarah Waters books. I feel privileged to have read Fingersmith, and feel required, impelled to read her other books. I'm in for a treat. And, I want to see "Fingersmith," the tv movie.

I didn't realise until I was looking at Sarah Waters' books that Tipping the Velvet was also one of hers - that was adapted by the BBC as well!

That's the feeling I'm getting from the first 40 pages.

I just read [book:Gunmetal Magic
. How are you liking it? I didn't like Andrea as a narrator as much as Kate but I love the series overall.

message 57: by Don (new)

Don Dunham reading "the goblin emperor" so far, really good. this author is going to tell some great stories. this novel is more like a coming of age in a nobel's court than any other thing.

message 58: by Don (new)

Don Dunham thanks "Trike" I picked "the goblin emperor" off of your comment.

I've just completed the Andrea novel and am about to start the Kate novella and that's pretty much my take. But at least this time I will have finished it! I started it years ago, and put it aside, for some reason. It's worth reading, if you read the Ilona Andrews books, and if you don't expect a lot.

Tad (tottman) | 159 comments With the 4th book in the Incryptid series just coming out, I decided it's time to start catching up so I started Midnight Blue-Light Special Midnight Blue-Light Special (InCryptid, #2) by Seanan McGuire by Seanan McGuire. I'm continually amazed at both how prolific she is and how so consistently good. The way she injects humor into her stories always keeps me with a smile on my face.

It is a great series, and you don't have to read them in their chronological order. I read them in their reverse order, because that's how I found the last, then the middle book at the library, and I loved each novel.

message 75: by Shomeret (new)

Shomeret | 411 comments Roberta, I agree with you. I actually started with Book 3 myself, but this reflects my reading policy. I am an unrepentant out of order reader who believes that all books ought to stand on their own. I will be reading Book 2 of this trilogy last.

message 76: by Julia (last edited Mar 09, 2015 09:39AM) (new)

Julia | 957 comments I finished No Man's Nightingale a mystery by Ruth Rendell, which is #24 in a series-- & the first for me-- and I thought it fun and a bit deeper than most mysteries I read.

Today I finished Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson and I loved it.

Next up: Saga, Volume 3 and Saga, Volume 4 by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples.

message 77: by Marina (new)

Marina Finlayson | 28 comments Just finished Charmingby Elliott James. My review is here.

Gave it 4 stars and really enjoyed it. I was surprised to find it had a lot of lukewarm reviews. Funny how we all like different things!

message 78: by Phrynne (new)

Phrynne I finished Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier and decided I prefer my fantasy when it is not so closely based on a fairy story. Actually maybe it depends on whether I like the fairy story in question..........I need to give that some thought.

message 82: by Eliene (new)

Eliene | 18 comments I finished The Queen of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner and loved it. The characters are we're so much fun and the light political intrigue kept me hooked.

I'm currently reading Adulthood Rites by Octavia Butler (#2 of the Xenogenesis/Lilith's Brood series). The first novel was an insightful read, if a little uncomfortable. I'm really looking forward to this one.

I recently dropped First Rider's Call by Kristen Britain. It's been on the back burner for about a month and I just didn't care any more.

Maarit wrote: "I started to read Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman."

I'm reading the Looking Glass series by John Ringo.
It's action packed, hard*ish*/military science fiction/space opera. very fun read!

message 88: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Michael | 263 comments Just finished "Race the Wild Wind" by Dianna Esquibel. Recommended by a 'horse' friend, downloaded to my Kindle and must say this is the best book I've read so far this year. Urban fantasy with a touch of steampunk, maybe, but for a horsewoman, the addiction is not-exactly-horses (maybe dragon horses?) that are intelligent and can communicate.

Can't find it listed on Goodreads and for some reason can't find the link that will let me add it, but it is definitely a wild ride!

I just finished Foundation and Empire by Isaac Asimov. I just love Asimov, he does the whole thing without overindulging any part of it; would go right to the next Foundation but only allowing one Asimov a month so I can complete challenges.
