He's a fun, action writer but no great thinker. It's like watching a dumb action movie.

I loved it! I now want very much to read all of Sarah Waters books. I feel privileged to have read Fingersmith, and feel required, impelled to read her other books. I'm in for a treat. And, I want to see "Fingersmith," the tv movie.

I didn't realise until I was looking at Sarah Waters' books that Tipping the Velvet was also one of hers - that was adapted by the BBC as well!

That's the feeling I'm getting from the first 40 pages.

I just read [book:Gunmetal Magic. How are you liking it? I didn't like Andrea as a narrator as much as Kate but I love the series overall.

I've just completed the Andrea novel and am about to start the Kate novella and that's pretty much my take. But at least this time I will have finished it! I started it years ago, and put it aside, for some reason. It's worth reading, if you read the Ilona Andrews books, and if you don't expect a lot.

EVERYTHING by Asimov? You must be very young.

I agree they are very different but I very much enjoy them both!

I am also reading tons of non-fiction micro-history.

The Martian Chronicles (My Review)
The Goblin Emperor (My Review)

The whole series is a great read.

It is a great series, and you don't have to read them in their chronological order. I read them in their reverse order, because that's how I found the last, then the middle book at the library, and I loved each novel.

Today I finished Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson and I loved it.
Next up: Saga, Volume 3 and Saga, Volume 4 by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples.

Gave it 4 stars and really enjoyed it. I was surprised to find it had a lot of lukewarm reviews. Funny how we all like different things!

I hadn't heard of that one, but the first few pages are quite good. Added to me to-read list.

I'm currently reading Adulthood Rites by Octavia Butler (#2 of the Xenogenesis/Lilith's Brood series). The first novel was an insightful read, if a little uncomfortable. I'm really looking forward to this one.
I recently dropped First Rider's Call by Kristen Britain. It's been on the back burner for about a month and I just didn't care any more.

I finished the xenogenesis trilogy earlier this year. and I loved it!
Maarit wrote: "I started to read Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman."
That book is very funny!
I'm reading the Looking Glass series by John Ringo.
It's action packed, hard*ish*/military science fiction/space opera. very fun read!

I'm now reading The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon. I thought it was historical fiction and it is, but there's other neat things going on, too.
Station Eleven may be up next.

Can't find it listed on Goodreads and for some reason can't find the link that will let me add it, but it is definitely a wild ride!

Here you go To Race the Wild Wind. I added it to GR.

"
Thank you! I don't read too many books that I give a 5-star rating to and put on my 'keep to re-read' list the minute I finish.

I have completed my reading and my reviews, thus completing the challenge. There are more than 26 books noted here.

I stated another older epic fantasy omnibus Legends of the Drenai by David Gemmell. It in includes books 1, 2 and 4 of his The Drenai Saga, a series of 11 books. I may have read the in the early 90's.

I just finished Foundation and Empire by Isaac Asimov. I just love Asimov, he does the whole thing without overindulging any part of it; would go right to the next Foundation but only allowing one Asimov a month so I can complete challenges.
