ERR... google says those 2 actually are related... googling them led to an announcement that Sarah Beth Durst is contracted to write 2 more books in the world of Spellshop & Enchanted Greenhouse...

message 402: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments I'm fine with July or Cozy, either one. ^_^ But if they are related I might want a #1 reread... could be worth checking invites thread...

I'm talking about my other post, about Spellshop and Enchanted Greenhouse... not magical innkeeping and secret society...

Spellshop and Enchanted Greenhouse are same world different librarians/islands, Magical Innkeeping and Secret Society could go either way but are also probably still largely disconnected even if it's the same world...

This AMA mentions the upcoming book, and makes no mention of them being the same world... also mentions that Mandanna has ideas for 2 more similar cozy books she hopes to write in the next few years, and then hopefully come up with even more... https://www.reddit.com/r/CozyFantasy/...

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Ah, I hate it when comments go to new page...

good to know, either way.

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Yanique, when you get a moment, would you mind editing the Dark Lord Davi thread? The title and first post should say May 3rd.

Thank you!!

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Hoooooh-kay, making a splatter of requests, and of course, these come with their sprinkling of errors.

Dwarf books:
#1 Martha Carr has an extra a in Carr
#2--I mixed up which was #2 and #3. Both say #2. All Dwarf'd Up is #3, and should be for 9/25/24 instead of August.

Hopefully that'll be all the Dwarf'd Up I get to, but I'll post again if I make more. Or when I'm done and it's safe to approach.

message 408: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Okay, made the rest of my requests without mishap. Yay!

Can't even write your fixes right :D

I set the BR for 2025, not 2024...

And that's not all! I put two ys in Mayberry at the last one. >.<

Good thing you're here to keep me honest!

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Oh and apparently I spelled "Enchanted" in the Enchanted Greenhouse as "Enchanged"

Man, I'm really off my rocker today.

message 412: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35212 comments Mod
At least Maberry was a sensical keyboard typo... you clicked R once instead of Y... you wrote Maberyy...

But then, you made me go back and doublecheck, when you wrote Mayberry here when talking about it...

message 413: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments LOL Yeah, lots of rocky rockery badness. Oof.

Getting ready to make a bunch of requests, probably will have edits...

Noticed that Poppy War #2 is missing the series info.

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Errors for requestfest:

Requested Licanius #1 for Jan 2025. Meant 2026. Yup, 6 month rule means 2026 is open for placeholders.

I think that's my only error though tonight. Whew!

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Hey Iain, can you mark the Fractured Dark link as broken on the spreadsheet?

message 422: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35212 comments Mod
I don't think there's a setting for that, other than leaving a note on a cell... I messaged Yanique, and floated the idea of making a new thread of this thread, in case she's not getting notifications for it anymore... I don't think she has been, since last September... I also mentioned that there's broken link talk in here, she should stop by sooner or later, and we might see a new thread appear...

message 423: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Huh, I thought there was, since one of the counters at the top is for "broken links"...

message 424: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments I guess I could also put in a second request for it, before all the ones claimed are up...

Nirkatze wrote: "Huh, I thought there was, since one of the counters at the top is for "broken links"..."

I checked and that's a record of claimed BRs that haven't been fulfilled... I guess I could use that, technically, but it would just confuse Yanique, I think, without context... would mean deleting the thread link she input after making the thread and maybe changing column A from Fulfilled to Claimed (can't remember if column A changes itself based on SWITCH parameters or is manually set)

Yanique Gillana | 2840 comments Mod
I've made the new thread for Fractured Dark.

The broken link counter doesn't help me as much as you may think, because the threads are all functional when I post the link to the spreadsheet. I leave them up, and test them after a while before adding them to the sheet. The threads then get eaten by GR later.

message 427: by Nirkatze (last edited Jul 07, 2025 03:11PM) (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Is that something that Iain's spreadsheet magic can help with? Maybe change a color if its broken, like purple? How would you like us to let you know, Yanique? Or should we just put in another request?

And thank you!!

Narilka | 5674 comments Hi Mods!

The group of us planning to read Isles of the Emberdark currently scheduled for November 8 have agreed we want to start much sooner. Can the thread be updated with the new date of August 1?

Thanks!

@Yanique: I was a bit quick on the draw requesting additional BR threads... Nirkatze asked me to delay Robot Farts from October to December, after all the holiday plan-a-palooza BRs...

I updated the spreadsheet and thread title and bookshelf, just need you to update the 1st comment for completeness...

@Yanique: we want to move Poor Man's Fight to January 2026 instead of starting a new SF series BR right before the holiday months, in September...

I adjusted the thread title and the spreadsheet already... we only requested book 1, back in May, so only 1 thread needs adjusting, we can just request 2-6 in November, when we start going hog wild on 2026 requests...

@Yanique: another BR adjustment: we want to move Deathstalker Legacy #1 to January 10th, 2026, so we don't pause in the middle of the sequel trilogy for the holidays...

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Me and Nirkatze have been talking about strategies to plan BRs in the future, to make these delays even less necessary...

Starting long series in January, filling in short series slots with trilogies in April/June/etc, and doing more standalones to fill space, so things can end conveniently in September, just in time for Spooktober/Cozy November+December...

Sounds like a plan!
I don't know how you all stick to a schedule tbh, with sooo many series!

Me and Nirkatze read so much, that it's easier to plan everything, and shuffle around 10-20 options for the current week / last week / next week, rather than make decisions from our entire library of unread and re-readable books... Decision Fatigue, basically... when we're reading 1-2-4 books per day... then I can just scroll my pre-downloaded books when I finish one... especially when half the time I'm picking a book to start as I head to work or mid work shift...

And scheduling everything means we get to discuss everything with one another...

That's what I like, anyway...

Spooktober & Cozy November/December are when I get to be a bit more freeform, from a limited selection of genres...

message 442: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments What Iain said... I'm so tired from work during the school year that making a decision about what to read is just one more monkey on the pile... having a set schedule really helps me get through the week...

Me and Nirkatze are also the best at maintaining... So many long BRs would otherwise die... The 2 year ones... Only one I can think of managing similar with 4+ people is Discworld...

message 444: by Yanique, Thread Master (new)

Yanique Gillana | 2840 comments Mod
I'm such a mood reader I just can't wrap my head around it. It has to be the right book at the right time, so I end up starting so many and I have like 6 current reads. I also need to switch up genres constantly so the books don't get muddled in my head.
But since I'm reading mostly physically, I have limited time.

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Heya mods,

The thread for The Fractured Dark died a quiet death and we need a new one. Would you like me to put in a new request? We also decided to delay it a month, to Sept 29, and move The Bound Worlds to Oct 29.

Thank you!

message 446: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Other movements:

The Navigator's Children to Nov 1st.
The Dinosaur Princess to Sept 30th

message 447: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Hey Iain, now that it's Sept, can we get the Spooktober thread? I'd like to move the planning list there if possible.

I think I didn't make any mistakes (yet) in my avalanche of requests, but it'd be good to have a second eye on them.

And would you do us the honor of making the spreadsheet edits for the dates mentioned above? Thank you!

message 448: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35212 comments Mod
I made the date changes... but I'm not sure you picked the right Dinosaur book?... you want to move #3 by 11 days?...

message 449: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Ehhhhh.... So, we were talking about moving #2 from the 19th to the 30th of August, and #3 to 30th of Sept, but no one's started #2 yet... might be a good idea to just move #3 to Oct 1 and nudge it off the Sept list...

message 450: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 20928 comments Do you think I should just put in a another separate request for Fractured Dark?
