For some reason, I feel like it's Christmas Eve hahaha.
But hello hello, I look forward to playing with you both this round!
Does anyone want to be team captain?

I will decline captain duties, this is my busy time at work. Tax season.
I agree I am always so excited for this game. It is like Christmas eve.
any ideas for a name?
Double Serial Slayers
Curran's Cuties
Bones' Babes
Serial Shifters

Hi team. Hi Victoria. I don't think we've met before. Hi Rosina, nice to be on a team with you again. Love Bingo! Though I don't remember the teams being this small last time.
I'd prefer to not be captain if either one of you can do it. Usually I only have time to check in mornings and evenings (CST time, I'm in Canada). Unless there's a blizzard outside and I have no business, like right now. :D

Do either of you have any books you are wanting to read this round of bingo....I was thinking about reading

I'm in three different Bingo style games right now, and I'm trying something different. No planning. When the call comes, I look for a book. I will go find something for Free Space though. I'm not very good at names. I'm a non-romance fantasy reader myself, so I'd prefer not to belong to Curran or Bones though. :D I like Double Serial Slayers because of the double 1s in Team 11.

We've actually haven't seen any snow yet this winter, but then again, I'm working from home and hardly going outside (I really don't mind that part haha).
I will be team captain, I've done it before and I loved doing it!
I'll reserve some posts to make a list later on today.

I'll take my blizzard over winter rain any day. Brrrr to that. :D Today is gorgeously sunny and freezing.

Week One
Shelf: Sci-fi Romance
Book:

How it Fits: On SOS Sci-fi Romance shelf
Read: 2/05/22
Pages: 389
Rating: 3 stars
Review: While I enjoyed the book, the story and the writing. I did not enjoy the ridiculous "romance" shoe horned into what could have been a great adventure story. Has any woman in the history of the universe ever looked at a man she loved who was dying and thought, man he has a great chest, I'd like to hit that right now? Also, if your man constantly calls you Baby, there is a good chance he can't remember your actual name. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to seeing where this series goes.

Shelf: Sci-fi Romance"
Thanks for the review Allison Ann! Shame the romance threw it off a bit :(

I... haven't started mine yet :D but will get to that later on today. I actually had to scroll up to check which one was even my free space... goldfish memory right there haha.
Hope your free space is amazing!

"Okay, I finished my book, time to read the BSB one!"
*starts thinking about the sample chapter she just read*
"Okay, I'll start that book after I read my new shiny!"
...
I actually read that book in one sitting but have been swamped with work... I'm going to read it now! and it will be done tomorrow lol
:D

Glad it's getting better! Hope it continued that trend :D

Week 2 - Alternate Reality
Sunshine by Robin McKinley - 405 pages
Marked 13 times as alternate-reality

DIRECT LINK - Alternate Reality or Alternate Universe (+ SOS' alternate universe)

Week One - Sci-fi Romance
Book: Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews

Review:
I never really started this series for some reason, even though I've had it for a while. So yay for BSB for giving me the push... it feels like this is going to become one of my favourites! But then again, pretty much everything the author wrote/writes is :D
Worldbuilding:
I really liked how the stage was set and how the information came to us. It wasn't an information dump but rather a slow and steady information stream. We learned about the world, the inn, Dina's role as she came across issues that needed the info.
As always, the environments and scenes were well described and clear.
Character development:
You have to love Dina; I mean... she is intelligent, funny, kicks ass with the help of the inn and Beast :D and is just so much fun to read about! We've gotten to know a bit about her past, her family and what she wants: to find her parents.
Sean and Arland made me chuckle (and facepalm) pretty often. Put the two of them together in a room and just enjoy the show, I would say :D I really hope to see a lot more of them in the following instalments as they both bring a lot to the table (and to Dina *wink* *wink*)
I love how the characters feel so alive, so real and believable, and not only the main characters but also the few side characters that we encountered.
Pacing and flow:
You pick up the book, get the lay of the land and then it grabs you and doesn't let you go, like... at all! So, of course, I read this book in one sitting as I just couldn't put it down (who needs sleep anyway, right?).
Great flow and balance between the action and the conversation.
The book:
The book is well written with no (noticeable) errors. There is no sex described (if that is important to you).
It has 225 pages, spread over 16 chapters and is told from Dina's point of view.
Final thoughts:
I loved this first book of the series! The setting was great, the characters were awesome and overall... it just made me want to continue the next book immediately! :D
