This is obviously a spin-off from the Redwood Pack series and although most of the history was explained, it would have been easier to have read that series first.]

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It is a different take in that although it follows the fated mates trope, Gideon the pack alpha, finds that his true mate, Brie is submissive wolf. This brings a lot of complications. Brie struggles to prove her worthiness of being the alpha female to the rest of the pack while at the same time be her own person. Definitely worth reading more and I will probably go back and read the Redwood Pack as well. 3.5 stars

I was pleasantly surprised by this kindle freebie. This category is always so hit or miss for me. My attention did wander a few times and there were a few spots that seemed rushed that I had to re-read because I felt like I missed some critical information but overall it was enjoyable.
