Review: This is the third and final book in this series and follows Queen Everleigh and her entourage to the Regalia games where her gladiators compete against the best of each country. Evie's biggest nemesis is also present, the king of Morta and his bastard brigade. The good: Its all been building up to this book and Evie must outsmart and outlast multiple assassination attempts. and keep her crew safe from the threats, While she makes allies. The not so good: Its only a three book series and I wanted more of this world... Good news is there is a spin off and I have already jumped into the first book and waiting for the next release. Listened to this in audio and same narrator as her other series.

Review: Neverwhere did not catch or hold my attention. This is the second urban fantasy recently that I completed due to obligation and not for enjoyment (maybe this genre isn’t for me). The main character Richard Mayhew is a common guy living in London with a decent job and a girl he likes. As they are walking down the street he comes across a person he wants to help. His fiancé doesn’t want him to get involved but he does anyway. This ends his ordinary life and begins his adventure into London Below. The characters, dangers, and adventures that Richard faces in London Below are scary, grewsome, and challenge his intelligence. I will not be continuing this series.

Series: The Others #8

Review: This mystery storyline has us revisiting Lake Silence members and primarily the human Vicki DeVine and a large cast of crowgard, vampires, shifters, elders / elementals, intuits, etc. that are either infatuated with her, protect her, or want to cause her harm... Vicki decides to host a party to celebrate Trickster night, which sets off an investigation after someone poses as Crowbones and murders follow. The good: Liked being back in the others universe and following this group of characters. The not so good: So many characters to try to keep up with. Listened in audio, not sure if it was hard to follow due to listening vs reading... But had to rewind and repeat a few times to keep up. Also, not sure if the narrator or if the tone of the story really dumbs down the characters. Seemed to have a very "simple" feeling and not sure if writing or result of listening vs reading.

I had no trouble with it reading. Maybe listening wasn't a good idea?

It was good. The delivery just seemed very childlike in audio. I think it was the same in previous books too. It might be her damaged damsel portrayal. Just resonated differently in this book for me this time.

That is disappointing. I have the audiobook but haven't started yet. I was waiting to see if it will fit on the next shelf.

With the same narrator it felt like Vicki became Meg is all. Not a negative just a reflection of my mood at the time. And audio.

Okay that makes sense! I can understand where you're coming from. I believe I did the audiobook for the last one, however I physically read the others. I think I'll just skip the audio on this one and read it with my own eyes haha.

Review:
I've been a fan of JLA for a bit of time now, so I'm always excited to go into a book by her. I wasn't exactly sure what this was about, and I kind of prefer to go into some fantasys blind because the synopsis can be a little spoilery. I really liked this one! When we were getting close to the end I wasn't sure how much I was really going to like it. I almost rated it 4 stars, but the last 100 pages really got me!

Review:
It's been a little while since I read #15 in the series, same as most who waited desperately for this book. I think there was just an expectation for this one to be on a certain level and it just didn't hit that level for me. It felt like a "filler" novel, and didn't have as much excitement or movement as I wanted. I was just overall disappointed, but still enjoyed it. I do understand that originally #16/#17 were going to be one novel together, but the publisher wanted to split them (for an unknown to me reason). I haven't yet read Battle Ground which is the next book, so I can't say whether or not it would have made a difference. I'm expecting it to be better but at this point who knows.

For Swoon Worthy shelf I will be going with The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang, shelved 16 times.

Great shelf to take a UF / PNR break with... Going with a Contemporary Romance Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Review:
I really resisted this book. I am a sucker for a good contemporary romance, especially with steamy scenes. I don't know why I waited so long, except that I have a resistance to books that get a lot of hype. I really appreciated the diversity of the characters, and the plot. This isn't a great written book, but the plot and characters sealed it for me. More so the characters. I know the next books are about different characters in the series, and not a continuation of these same ones. I added the next to my TBR but I am still unsure if I'll read it.

Review: It's been awhile since I've read a Colleen Hoover book, but I'm glad I finally got a chance to read this one. This follows Sydney, a college student and music major that suddenly had her world turned upside down after discovering that her best friend and roommate was shacking up with her boyfriend behind her back. Enter her neighbor Ridge, a computer engineer and deaf musician, who becomes Sydney's hero more or less. The good: I thought the Ridge character was very unique and creative. A deaf songwriter, who'd of thought!! :) It was a good story that had a creative storyline and complementary songs and music that reflected the story which you can listen to a snippet on iTunes or buy if you like... Thought that was cool. The not so good: I hate love triangles, I despise cheaters and I realize without that angst there would not be a story, but ugh! This was good, but doesn't compare to her "It Ends with Us" which set a really high bar for me personally. I listened to this in audio which was good too.

For the Kindle Freebie shelf I am going with Tall, Tatted and Tempting by Tammy Falkner. Shelved 23 times as Kindle Freebie. I'm not really looking forward to this, but I know I have a copy of it on my kindle and it'll at least get it off the TBR.

Review: This book kept me laughing and smiling. The main character, Caroline, has moved into a new apartment which she rents from her boss where she is familiarized with her neighbor and his nightly visitors. The storyline was cute. I didn’t like some of Caroline’s self-talk. It became as annoying as some of the sex scenes at the end of the book (too many grunts, groans, oohs, and ahhhs). Over-all I decided the lol’s outweighed the annoying.

There seems to be a theme of YA and BDSM books that I have access to…. So I’m going to try reading Delicate Ink by Carrie Ann Ryan for my “chicka chicka bow bow” free read… If I’m not able to get in the mood or it gets too much, I may switch.

Review: This is the first book in the Montgomery Ink series that follows Austin and the family members that work at their tattoo parlor. His love interest Sierra owns the boutique across the street and it goes from love hate at light speed. Common denominator they both like a little DS slap and tickle. The good: Big loving family and there are several possible storylines happening that show potential. The not so good: Every cliché possible was tossed into this book. Multiple story thoughts just jumped into the pages, several out of no where. Some were developed further and some didn’t. Sometimes it just seemed there was too much and too many folks that the story was chopped vs blended and transitioning smoothly. A little disjointed IMO.

Review: The novel starts with Dee in bed with her lover. He tells Dee to get away before he hurts her and she has no idea what has happened. Dee joins her husband Jack and their two children Naomi and Cole at their home. The community is in chaos as many people are on murderous rampages. Jack determines the family must run. The story journals their trip to find safety. The only point I found encouraging was that Dee and Jack learn to appreciate one another as they face the challenges together on their way to safety.

Review:
I did not find much enjoyment in this book. I think I just wasn't in the right mood for a smutty romance, I've been on a high fantasy kick lately. I don't want to bring down the book too much in case someone else really liked it. The characters weren't bad, and the plot wasn't terrible. I just didn't like it as much as I wanted to. I don't think I'll be continuing with the series either.

I’m going with Blackbird Rising by Keri Arthur shelved by 3 people as “paranormal romance” 338 pages

Review: I love this one. Sci-Fi meets shifter, action, adventure! 16 yo Maya lives with her parents who adopted her on a wildlife refuge. She cares for wounded animals along with her father. The ones she cares for heal quicker than the others. Lately she has been passing out and having strange dreams. She and her best friends carry on as all teens until things change. Maya and her friends don't know who could be trusted.
