Who doesn't love finding a new favourite book - and a debut, no less. Himself by Irish author Jess Kidd is a terrific blend of warmth and superstition and murder. The lot!
5★ My review of Himself
I'm starting to warm up to Ann Cleeves' new Two Rivers series. The characters are not as immediately likeable as Vera and Jimmy Perez but we're getting more insight into them and their lives in this second book in the series.

I enjoyed reading Mick Herron's debut novel,
Down Cemetery Road. While not up to the brilliance of his Slough House series it's still very good and there are lots of key traits evident already in his writing that you can recognise from his later series.my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
4 stars for this rural romance by an Aussie Author
While You Were in the Country by Eva ScottMy review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I enjoyed
None the Wiser by Rachel Amphlett, the first in her DS Mark Turpin mysteries set in Oxfordshire. review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I loved the paranormal elements and Irish folklore woven into this gothic tale of an unusual child in Victorian London and those who like to collect curiosities to show live or put into jars.

This very gritty murder mystery is based on the author's own experiences as a rookie cop and was an excellent read.

Jon McGregor is a terrific Irish author who was commissioned by the BBC to write these stories, The Reservoir Tapes, to follow his highly acclaimed debut, Reservoir 13. He is just so good.
5★ My review of The Reservoir Tapes
I've also just read Where Shadows Dance, # 6 in the Sebastian St. Cyr historical mystery series by C.S. Harris. 1812 England - intrigue, murder, a bit of romance. What's not to love?
5★ My review of Where Shadows Dance
I'm an outlier with this historical novel
We Fly Beneath the Stars by Suzanne Kelman. It sounded like such a good topic for a WW2 novel with a difference (based on the real Russian all female fighter bomber pilots), but I was disappointed that it was more of a romance with a historical backdrop than a fascinating historical novel.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
