Carolyn | 2101 comments Elly Griffiths continues to deliver a well crafted mystery in #14 of her Ruth Galloway series. Written during the UK covid 19 lockdown it also presents a realistic snapshot of what life was like for people during the early days of the pandemic.

Carolyn | 2101 comments I'm starting to warm up to Ann Cleeves' new Two Rivers series. The characters are not as immediately likeable as Vera and Jimmy Perez but we're getting more insight into them and their lives in this second book in the series.

Carolyn | 2101 comments I enjoyed reading Mick Herron's debut novel, Down Cemetery Road (The Oxford Investigations, #1) by Mick Herron Down Cemetery Road. While not up to the brilliance of his Slough House series it's still very good and there are lots of key traits evident already in his writing that you can recognise from his later series.

Carolyn | 2101 comments I'm an outlier with this historical novel We Fly Beneath the Stars by Suzanne Kelman We Fly Beneath the Stars by Suzanne Kelman. It sounded like such a good topic for a WW2 novel with a difference (based on the real Russian all female fighter bomber pilots), but I was disappointed that it was more of a romance with a historical backdrop than a fascinating historical novel.
