Rosh ~catching up slowly~ (roshreviews) | 709 comments "The Maids of Biddenden" by G.D. Harper
The Maids of Biddenden by G.D. Harper
A historical fiction based on the real-life conjoined twins who probably lived during the 11th-12th century. A good read for fans of this genre.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments I am very fond of Aussie author Emma Viskic's Caleb Zelic, but this is said to be the deaf investigator's last story. (I tweeted to her that Kat and the ancestors will pester her to continue!) Those Who Perish is excellent, and I want more!
Those Who Perish (Caleb Zelic #4) by Emma Viskic 4.5~5★ My review of Those Who Perish

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Sherlock Holmes Retold for Children, by Alex Woolf with illustrations by Eve O'Brien, is a terrific set of classic stories that can be enjoyed by all ages. This is a 16-book box set of chapter books, but there are singles and audios and small sets, too. All libraries should have them!
Sherlock Holmes Retold for Children by Alex Woolf 4.5~5★ My review of Sherlock Holmes retold with some of the illustrations

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I have also listened to a different narrator, but for me, Sean Barrett's narration of Mick Herron's Slough House novels is unequivocally the best. 5★s for Bad Actors.

4⭐️s

I have to confess I struggled with this review because although I enjoyed the book, I had a few issues with the editing which I don’t think should go without mention. I think too many books are suffering at the expense of shoddy editing of late and it’s not fair.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments Even though I had picked the killer halfway through the story, by then I was so gripped by Tess Gerritsen’s latest Rizzoli and Isles book, Listen To Me, that I couldn’t let go. 5★s for this tightly plotted crime thriller.

PattyMacDotComma | 3299 comments Euphoria is a lovely state if you can achieve it. Lily King's Nell Stone (a fictional version of anthropologist Margaret Mead ) does get carried away with her studies of primitive societies, but this book is more about jealousy and desire in her own. Fascinating setting, research, and characters.

A decent one-time read, though not the best by this author. Mainly for romantic-drama fans.
