RACHEL HOWZELL HALL is the author of seven novels, including the critically-acclaimed Detective Elouise Norton series. The third novel in the series, Trail of Echoes, was published this past May and received a coveted Kirkus Star and was one of Kirkus Reviews 'Books That Kept Us Up All Night.' Land of Shadows and Skies of Ash (Forge) were included on the Los Angeles Times’ “Books to Read This Summer” for 2014 and 2015, and the New York Times called Lou Norton “a formidable fighter—someone you want on your side.” She is also collaborating with James Patterson and BookShots on the upcoming "The Good Sister." I deal with writer's block by not having it! See, I have a full-time job, am the mom of an active 10-year old and sometimes, I have to sleep. That doesn't leave a time for writing -- an hour a day, every morning between 6:15 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. -- and no time for not knowing what to write. And since I want this new series to succeed, and since I know my time is limited, SOMETHING'S going down on a piece of paper every. single. day.(less)

Hi, Diane!

Thanks so much for the compliments and lobbying -- novelists can never have enough! I appreciate your tremendous support and I'm so glad that you love Lou and her stories. I'm having a great time writing her adventures! The next story, TRAIL OF ECHOES, will be out next year this time. Lou returns to the Jungle after a teenage girl is found dead on a trail in a nearby park.

Can't wait to share it with you!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I feel strange right now -- my daughter graduated from fifth grade and there's no homework to do... except for mine, which is finishing the first draft of the fourth Lou Norton novel.

Best,
Rachel(less)

Description: Fans of James Patterson's Women's Murder Club will love Rachel Howzell's newest title. Three weeks out of cancer surgery, crime reporter Syeeda McKay is in the pursuit of Los Angeles’s most active serial killer. Over the last twenty years, the Phantom Slayer has hunted African-American prostitutes working in one of the worst parts of South Los Angeles, killing eight victims in the alleys off Western Avenue, and then disappearing into the shadows. But Syeeda doesn’t know that the killer has turned his sights on her. Detective Adam Sherwood, a hotshot investigator with the Robbery-Homicide Division of the LAPD, has been handed the Phantom Slayer cases, and together, he and Syeeda must figure out who is doing the killing . . . before Syeeda becomes his next victim.
