Denise Lauron (dlauron) | 271 comments Can I swap out The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue to next month? It's going to be close if I finish it by Monday or not. If we can't, I can probably finish it, but if we have something else can can cover, I won't rush it.

You can absolutely put off The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue to next month. We have other books that can cover, Denise.

Sara Hollingsworth | 643 comments This goes for everyone in fact. If you don't think you can finish your book by Monday, then let me know. We have plenty of overflow to use, and anything you don't think you can finish this month can be used in March.

Karolyn | 271 comments And is it OK for two of us to read the same book in a month? I assume so but wanted to be sure

message 255: by Beth (new)

Beth (jasonverlander) | 756 comments Yes I believe we can Karolyn! I know there were times two of us would read the same book and the second person to finish would use it for reverse. Or if it’s a colored card task, it would be hard for Wild Draw 4

Yes, absolutely. That is perfectly fine.

Thanks! I moved it, so there's a hole in the spreadsheet now

Sara Hollingsworth | 643 comments Some groups actually do mini buddy reads during months. Where they all pick one book to read together. I've done it once before with a group. I don't know if any of you are interested in doing that one of the months?

Horizon Forbidden West. I was going to put it off until whenever the PS5 came back into stock but I cracked and bought it. It's an 85-hour game so I need to plan my reading wisely lol.

I wouldn't mind doing this if we somehow come to a consensus of what to read. Sounds fun!

Beth (jasonverlander) | 756 comments Does anyone happen to have a book that will fit for 5 just in case I can’t finish I Kissed a Girl in time? If not, I’ll set aside more time for it!

message 265: by Karolyn (last edited Feb 26, 2022 11:58AM) (new)

Karolyn | 271 comments I finished Impulse last night (ok… like 1 AM because I couldn’t put it down). It will work for a 5 and is at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Right now I’m looking for another quick read for the weekend because I need to stop watching the news.

The Last House on Needless Street works for two of our green cards - so that’s the one I was thinking about.

Oh yes! I'm so looking forward to getting Horizon Forbidden West. I actually have a PS5, but I know if I buy it I'll get nothing else done for a month lol. So I'm putting it off till after Uno.

That's on my to-read list so if that is something that a majority of us is interested in reading, it could be a good option for a mini buddy read.

Ooph, yea. It's definitely pricey. I've been eyeing the new Elden Ring too, so I have to really budget if I want to get all the new games coming out that interest me. This year so far seems like it's going to be killer for RPGs.

I placed a library hold for it in case we do a buddy read. It says wait time is about four weeks but it's super rare for no one to push their hold back so I might get it sooner. It was on my TBR anyway :)

The edition they have has this cover so I'm not nominating my read for a green: The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward

I bought a copy when the book first released and it's still sitting on one of my shelves. So yes, I would love to buddy read this book too.

Angela | 655 comments I wanted to give the team a head's up that starting late next week I am going to be doing quite a bit of traveling through the first week of April. I should still be able to check in frequently etc. I am going to leave my reads (outside of the color cards and mini buddy read) pretty open for mood reading over the next month so I may not fill in many spots up front butttt I will still be reading.

Sara Hollingsworth | 643 comments Also, it seems like a lot of us are up for a Last House on Needless Street buddy read!

I'm going to make this post a sign up sheet for it. Here's the current people interested:
Karolyn
Narsku
Angela
Sara
Ashley
Denise
Kylie
Andy
Stephanie

Everyone else, you don't have to participate, but if you want to, just let me know and I'll add you to the above list!

Also, what week of March do you guys want to try to read this together? Second or third, is usually a good week to do.

I’ll support whatever the team prefers. But if we have another mini challenge mid month… is it better to do the buddy read before or after it’s released mid-month?

I also need to get my work book club book pick sorted (I made the mistake of agreeing to run our book discussion awhile ago and haven’t been able to get anyone to take it over 😄).

This is a good point! There is a mini-challenge every month, so doing it third week means we can all use the book in the mini tasks. That could give us a wide variety of options to fill.

Yeah, I've heard Elden Ring is supposed to be really good as well. And it's got George R.R, Martin attached to it too.

Sara Hollingsworth | 643 comments Alright, here's the March countdown! This is the clock deadline for February to get in.

https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

So, I'm going to get as much put on our official sheet today as I can. And then I'm going to fill in the unfinished tasks with overflow. There is only roughly 35 hours left before the lockdown and I don't want to cut it close, especially since we have so much overflow right now. Anything that you're currently reading, I'm going to move to March, so if you're working something and are okay with putting it off until the 1st of March, then it'll count for March.

I have finished this massive 1072 page book! I adore Stephen King books so I was thrilled to see it on the small town list for the mini challenge for February. I was not sure where to put it as far as on the chart for UNO cards so I put the information in the overflow portion in February's tab.
