So, I took a little side jaunt to read Eight Perfect Murders. I think I agree with you. It's definitely slow. And a bit redundant in places. I also just found the writing a bit awkward and weirdly stilted. I don't know. It didn't really work for me either.

Read a book which has given another team its name

Ooo, good choice. I think Sherlock stuff is free. I can't remember if it's public domain yet or not.

Anyways, speaking of the mini. I'll get that tab up on the sheet today. Sorry life has been insane the last week. I've barely been able to get on to update my reading.

Courtney (spellmannn) | 33 comments I have a quick captain question!
I didn't plan on using it for the challenge, but figured I might as well ask about a graphic novel I'm working on. I can't find it on arbookfind, but it is a little over 1300 pages. I know we need to reach a certain word count for it to work -- If I can't find the official word count, can we ask if it can be used anyway? It's Saga, Compendium One (basically 9 volumes/50+ issues in one book).

Thanks!

We can ask. Usually comic books are a straight no go, even with comic book collections that are around 500+ pages, given the word count is usually less then 100 words per page and rarely if ever touches the minimum words needed. But, given it's nine volumes of Saga and over 1300 pages, then it might be safe to say it's long enough. I'll take it to the captain's chat though.

I think last time I asked about a manga and they said no because the word count wasn't on arfindbook.

message 522: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (spellmannn) | 33 comments For sure. I'm not really expecting it to be a yes but might as well try if I'm powering through it anyway.

I don't think we can use that site. It has to be a specific site that is library verified. The arfinder I think it's called? Also I think that particular site is wrong more often then not. I've used it before and it was wrong on the word count for a play. And 47,000+ words in a 170 page comic book is impossible. There is not enough words per page to get that amount. Novellas are around 40,000 words and they are pure text.

Is it the book you just read? If so, I'd mark it as a standalone. Until it is listed on Goodreads as in a series, then it's not considered the first book in a series yet.

I feel that I have been in a perpetual reading slump since early December. I don't know if that is due to reading so much in the two years of covid from being home so much? My attention span has just been all over the place and I found it hard to concentrate which is probably the reason I pick up so many books to read at one time.

The struggle is real Narsku! :)

Nirvana in Fire and Word of Honor. My last wuxia phase was about 15 years ago and then I only really had access to movies. I have no reference to what is considered worth watching nowadays but I'm having fun :)
