Popsugar Challenge - 2022

Just completed #35 (constellation on cover) - Lobizona by Romina Garber. “Go forth and shatter every convention.” Loved everything about this book! The Argentinian fairytale take on Hogwarts, honoring HP while also pointing out ALL the flaws, the diversity and inclusivity, all excellent! This is some great world building, and I cannot wait for the next chapter! I received this book as a free giveaway in exchange for my honest review. Definitely worth reading! 5 stars

Just completed #26 (misleading title) - Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew Sullivan. Do not be fooled by the title and cover - this is not some happy go lucky romp through the shelves. This goes darker than I would have expected, but it’s an interesting mystery. It took a bit to get the plot moving, but overall, it was a good read! Not a huge fan of men writing women protagonists, and while there was depth missing in the main character, she was portrayed better than most. Worth reading! 4.5 stars
23/50

16/50 Binti Quote by favorite author on the cover. Ursula Le Guinn is quoted on the cover.

Progress 12/50
49. Two books set in twin towns, aka "sister cities" (1) New York Harlem Shuffle

Just completed #31 (man-made disaster - slavery) - When the Reckoning Comes by LaTanya McQueen. This is a powerful novel, exploring much of the apathy and hypocrisy of white America. The writing was excellent, and I really appreciate how the author created the characters and weaved together the story. It felt a little incomplete to me at the end, but it’s a wonderful debut! Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars
