Page numbers with source
How book qualified, with links or cover as necessary.
Date Completed.
Rating/Review.

**Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count only! If your page count comes from a Kindle edition published on the initial publication date on the editions page, it will count. If your page count comes from a Kindle edition labeled '1st edition', it will count. If your page count comes from the earliest dated English language Kindle edition, it will count. I am looking for one of those three things when confirming your books! As long the page count you list is correct, I will accept any link to the book. Ebook page count will be acceptable if no Kindle page count available. The acceptability of other page counts will be made on an individual basis.**

Please note that a rating is now required in your completion posts! A small review is also welcome. 😊

MountainKat | 31593 comments I think most of you know each other, at least a little, but feel free to introduce yourself again. Please give any relevant information, especially time zone as that helps know when it is best to communicate. 😊

Please select a team leader to help keep track of where your team is in any given task. And as necessary guide discussions for task decisions. Any teammate can report your completions though.

Remember, it is the team's responsibility to notify the host (me) if a teammate fails to complete the task in a timely manner or otherwise goes missing! I am not checking all the team threads regularly to notice and may only check when notified a task is complete.

PS - If you want to be known as anything other than Team 4, you are free to come up with a team name. 😉

Courtney | 2931 comments I've bolded the tasks we need to make decisions on.

Some we still have things from last time, so we just need to confirm.

29. Still military?
33. Still contemporary?
49. Still November 2020, or do you want something more recent?
50. Still NYC?
52. Still White?
55. Still UK?
56. Last time we picked Most Anticipated 2020. Keep or more to Most Anticipated 2021?
90. We did Jan, Feb, March, April 2020 last time, so I just moved up to Mar, Apr, May, June this year. Is that ok or too recent?
95. Dog OK again?

Then, we have 3 same author tasks and two same series tasks. We still have Pamela Clare and Eloisa James left over from last time. Do you guys want to keep those two? Then, we need one more author and two series.

Does anyone read Melissa Foster? It looks like her Love in Bloom series has 110 books 😳, so might be a good series choice. I've never read anything by her, though, so not sure how they are.

Chan | 5093 comments Woohoo! We have our thread. From the other thread it looked like we were going to stay with Fast like Molasses? Should we tell Kat?

Thanks Courtney for tracking again. Much appreciated. I'll take a look at everything tomorrow and post my stuff.

Courtney | 2931 comments Sure, I'll pop into the main thread.

~KarenH~ | 11334 comments Hi everyone, I'm excited to get started too!

I'm happy to just carry anything from the last round over into this one...whatever is easiest is my motto these days! And on that note, I'm going to apologize in advance for potentially being a bit spacey or missing something this round, especially at the beginning. Not sure if any of you remember the chaos that my life was in last round, but things are FINALLY starting to get better. I've moved into my new place (only about 4 months later than expected) but I'm still in the process of getting settled, so while physically things are much improved, mentally I'm still struggling to get out of chaos mode. 🤪 Fortunately I can listen to books while I'm trying to figure out where to put everything, so at least I shouldn't have trouble keeping up once we get started reading. As far as anything else, please feel free to nudge or (virtually) smack me if I miss something! 😂

~KarenH~ | 11334 comments Here's my list of recommendations. Just copied over from the previous round so I might make changes, but these are all books I absolutely loved, so probably not...

Fisher's Light (Fisher's Light, #1) by Tara Sivec Fisher's Light - Contemporary/Military/Mental Health
Into Deep Waters by Kaje Harper Into Deep Waters - Historical (M/M)
The Witness by Nora Roberts The Witness - Romantic Suspense
Texas Destiny (Texas Trilogy, #1) by Lorraine Heath Texas Destiny - Historical
Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words by Tara Sivec Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words - Contemporary/Humor

Chan | 5093 comments This is my rec list:

How to Be a Normal Person (How to Be, #1) by T.J. Klune - Contemporary M/M
Rhapsodic (The Bargainer, #1) by Laura Thalassa - Paranormal
Shadow Woman by Linda Howard - Suspense
Storm and Silence (Storm and Silence, #1) by Robert Thier - Historical
First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones - Humor

~KarenH~ | 11334 comments Thanks, Chan! It's a big change, going from a house in a very rural area to an apartment in town (even if it is a small town). I'm going to miss my neighbors and my dog misses being able to just hang around outside, but we're both adjusting and overall the advantages are going to outweigh the disadvantages. I'm certainly not going to miss hauling firewood for heat or shoveling paths through 2-3 feet of snow to get to the mailbox or woodshed! And having pretty much anything I might need within walking distance (or close to it) doesn't hurt my feelings either...

I hope this task comes up for us this round...I've been looking for an excuse to read How to Be a Normal Person for a long time, but it somehow just never bubbles to the top of the pile.

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 768 comments This is my rec list - Mostly contemporary. I guess I need to branch out to other sub-genres. lol I'm a little surprised I don't have more historical.

I Can See You (Romantic Suspense, #10; Minneapolis, #1) by Karen Rose - Suspense

Dating Mr. Darcy (Love Manor, #1) by Kate O'Keeffe - Contemporary/Humor

Courtney | 2931 comments Ok cool, so I'll leave all the picked things the same from last time.

What about the author and series tasks? Should we all pick one again like last time? (Liz, do you want to keep James? And Karen, keep Clare?) I mentioned Em Petrova as a backup last time if you guys are interested in that. I thought it would be good since she has military/ex-military suspense and sweet western contemporaries, so some different genres to choose from.

I think the series one is always hardest, so any suggestions for ones with a lot to choose from? I don't read a lot of longer series, so I'm terrible at this one.

Also, there's a second genre one (#70), are we doing contemporary for that, too, or something else?

I like Liz's addition of each of us picking for a task. It was fun and I found a new author and tried a new genre - alien lol.

Which tasks do I need to pick for?

message 29: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments OK.

Should we do everyone pick one author and one series, and then we can narrow things down from there?

Courtney | 2931 comments Maybe Seattle Sharks for a series and Em Petrova for an author for me? Or are those too boring 🤣.

Have we done T.S. Joyce yet? I'm always worried about doing a shifter one, though, because I don't know if they'll be too violent.

How about Krista Wolf? All reverse harems, though.
description

I really loved Choosing Theo (Clecanian #1) by Victoria Aveline , so we could do Clecanian as a series...but I'm the only one who's read any, so it's probably not the greatest. She doesn't have anything else out yet, either. Dixon was easier for sci-fi because she has so many options.

message 31: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11334 comments Sounds good, Courtney. I think I'll stay with Pamela Clare for author since she writes Romantic Suspense, Historical and straight Contemporary, so plenty of variety. As far as a series goes, how about Lucky Harbor?

I'm fine with just about anything - your original choices actually sound great to me. I've never read Em Petrova, and I've only read the first book in the Seattle Sharks series and have been meaning to get back to it but just never have. As far as the others you mentioned go I'd be fine with any of them too, although Krista Wolf would probably be my least favorite choice.

~KarenH~ | 11334 comments Oh, and I think we might have had T.S. Joyce as an option in an early round (not that that would mean we couldn't use it again). I read the first book in the Saw Bears series, and I'm pretty sure it was for this challenge back in the first or second round. Maybe not, you might have just mentioned it and I went with it on my own, but pretty sure I got the idea from you! 😃

That's what I was thinking. I knew it wasn't the last round, but I knew you had read one before. I must have picked her for the author choice in one of the earlier rounds.

I think Em Petrova is really good, but I don't know why she hasn't gotten popular. I think she writes a lot better than some of the bigger names out there 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sure, pretty much anything by Shalvis will be a reread for me, so whichever series everyone else prefers I'm happy to go with! I only picked Lucky Harbor because I think it's her longest series, but Heartbreaker Bay is close.

Ok great. Lucky Harbor would be mostly re-reads for me, but I've only gotten to the first two books in Heartbreaker Bay, so I'd like to continue with it.

Courtney | 2931 comments OK, so far we have:

Authors:
Elosia James
Pamela Clare
Em Petrova

Series:
Heartbreaker Bay
Seattle Sharks

I think Heartbreaker Bay might be the easiest for
82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.
since we've all read a few, unless someone has a different idea. I actually don't mind skipping around in Shalvis' series anyway because all the characters are normally introduced in the first book.

We can wait for Chan's suggestions and then decide.

Chan | 5093 comments Mine will be -

Series: The Grangers by Brenda Jackson
Author: Rebecca Zanetti

message 44: by Courtney (last edited Sep 17, 2021 11:03PM) (new)

Courtney | 2931 comments Ok,

So we have:

Authors:
Eloisa James
Pamela Clare
Em Petrova
Rebecca Zanetti

Series:
Heartbreaker Bay
Seattle Sharks
The Grangers

Number 1, 51, and 73 are all same author. Number 1 can be same book, Number 51 must be different books, and 73 can be same book but altogether 1500 pages. It probably doesn't make too much difference which author goes where, but with the 1500 page one, it'll either be that some will have to read two books, or we pick an author with a higher average page count. I know Em Petrova is usually around 200 pages, so if you'd rather we all read one book for that one, probably shouldn't use her there.

Number 9 and 82 are for series, so we need two. Is everyone cool with Heartbreaker Bay for 82 since we've all read a few in there? If so, then we just need to pick for 9.

The Grangers or Seattle Sharks

So should we all pick our top three author choices and one of the two series (assuming Heartbreaker Bay is good for 82).

Or since we didn't get to Pamela Clare and Elosia James last time, should we go with those two for sure, and then pick between Em Petrova and Zanetti for the last author spot?

Chan | 5093 comments I’m okay with whatever is decided. Or to make things a little easier, we can be assigned 2 tasks each to exclusively pic for:

Courtney
9. Each player reads a book in the same series, teams decide. No pass for this task.
73. Read a minimum of 1500 pages in books by the same author, teams decide author.

Liz
1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.

Karen:
51. Each teammate reads a different book by the same author, no pass for this task.
119. As a team, select an author that is new to at least two of you and each teammate reads a book by that author.

Chan
52. Read 6 books with the same color cover, teams decide color.
70. Read a minimum of 1200 pages in books of the same sub-genre, but by different authors.

~KarenH~ | 11334 comments I'm good with whatever selection method we choose. The one thing that did jump out at me though is that, of the authors that have been mentioned, Em Petrova might be the obvious choice for #119 since I believe Courtney is the only one who has read anything by her.
