800/3 = Roughly 267 pages each

I've got several choices for this one on my M&G list, so I'll go with the one with the highest page count to give the rest of you some leeway.
Legacy by Nora Roberts 435 pages

Karen, my mom is listening to this one. She said it's good, but she made a face when she said it lol. BUT she had just finished reading The Awakening by Nora Roberts and was on a book high. She talked about it for days and lamented how the next one won't be available until November.

So, I would be interested to hear what you think about it.

Courtney | 2932 comments Chan wrote: "whoa! you rated an RS 5 stars?!??! 😲
I'm definitely reading this one."

I hope you like it. RS isn't my typical genre, so who knows how my taste is 🤣. I didn't think it was too violent. There's one shoot-out scene, and there is mention of rape but it doesn't happen on page.

message 355: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2932 comments Ok, so with Karen's, Liz and I just need to do 187 pages each. I gotta flick through my eReader and see what I have. I gotta find something I can double up with PTP, too.

message 356: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2932 comments I'm going to do Wrong (Cafe, #1) by Jana Aston . It's 286 pages.

I was hoping to find something a bit shorter so you guys wouldn't have to wait for me to finish, but it was harder than I thought to find something with a one word title!

But I like this author's The One Night Stand Before Christmas (Reindeer Falls, #3) by Jana Aston that I read earlier, so hopefully this will be good, too 🤞

message 357: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments I hope you like it, Courtney. I remember reading it and rolling my eyes at some parts, but i thought the book was funny.

I don't have much left of my book, but it's sooooo good. I want it to last. So, i'm going to finish it tomorrow. It'll give me something to look forward to.

Review:

description

I'm usually not a big fan of may-december relationships, especially when the heroine is still in college. Usually, she ends up coming off a bit immature and seems more like a prop or trophy than part of a real relationship. But, Sophie...Sophie is fantastic! I always love a heroine that feels like someone I would want to hang out with in real life, and Sophie is definitely that. She funny and snarky without being bitchy. She doesn't whine and complain; she just handles things. She feels like a real, whole character, and I love that!

And Luke?

description

I just loved this couple, loved the story, loved the humor. This is my second book by this author, and I just really love her style. Big fan!

MountainKat | 31754 comments Here is your next task!

Task 15 - 54. Read 6 books set on a beach or in the mountains, teams decide which.

As a team decide if you are going to read books set in the mountains or on a beach, then read 6 books with the selected setting. Please include the selected setting in your completion posts. Remember to let me know how you know your books qualify, be it title, precis, tags or lists. I need to know where to look to confirm your books!

Off to search my MnG shelves

message 365: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11361 comments I didn't find anything on my M&G shelf that works and I'm a bit rushed for time this morning, so just going with an easy reread: Second Chance Summer (Cedar Ridge, #1) by Jill Shalvis

message 366: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2932 comments Is having mountains on the cover enough? I have this on my eReader already Signed (Bear Mail, #1) by Layla Nash . Also says it's in North Dakota...not sure if that implies mountains or not, though 🤣.

If not, I think I have some books with mountain man in the title or series name. That would work, right?

message 367: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11361 comments I'm sure on the cover doesn't work, and I don't think North Dakota by itself would work either, but not sure. I'm on my way out the door, so you might want to ask in the Q&A thread to find out for sure.

message 368: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 768 comments I know this is a bit out there, but do you think Harry Potter would be considered taking place on. Mountain? It technically is although fictional mountain. Lol I love retreading the series around Halloween, and im about to start the Half Blood Prince.

message 369: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 768 comments Never mind I can’t find it on the a list or anything so it will have to wait. I’ll find a different book.

message 370: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2932 comments Well, I've got the next Damon's Mountain book Boarlander Bash Bear (Boarlander Bears, #2) by T.S. Joyce . I'm not sure if the series title is enough, and the precis only says that he's a lumberjack. But one person marked the setting as Alaska northwest mountains.

But I also found The Cabin by Natasha L. Black , which seems clearer. First line in the precis is "I’m trapped in a mountain cabin with a man."

I hope I can finish both by tomorrow night, but I make no promises! 😁

Review:

This was just kind of weird for me. The guys head up to a cabin to check in on their dead best friend's sister, who had called her parents the night before because her boyfriend was scaring her. When they show up, though, she's super blasé about the whole thing. They end up even all staying in the same cabin together...weird. But apparently, Elise broke up with the guy right before the calvary arrives, so it's fine??? Anyway, the ex gets drunk and says a bunch of rude things to her, so they all end up going to a different cabin. And then the majority of the book is her worrying that she might be carrying her ex's baby, and her ex getting drunk and trying to talk to her because he wants her back or something...and her always speaking to him instead of just telling him to f-off and moving on.

There is absolutely no time in this book to develop one relationship, let alone four like the author was trying to do. All of the guys end up feeling like the same character. I honestly couldn't remember whose perspective each chapter was supposed to be in because they all felt the same. So much time is spent on the ex stuff, and it honestly ends up going into the ridiculous category by the end. The dude kidnaps her, but they're not going to tell the police as long as he doesn't tell anyone they beat the crap out of him. Yeah, ok, that seems safe. 🙄

And it never felt to me like the guys actually wanted in this relationship anyway. Elise just comes off super selfish, and the guys seem kind of forced into doing what she wants.

The writing is also really long-winded. So many things that don't need to be rehashed or explained in depth take up a lot of the page count...pages that could have been spent actually developing these relationships....

Meh, lots of better reverse harems out there. This was just boring and disappointing.

Courtney | 2932 comments So, Chan and Karen, you're both doing two? Or should I start another one?

message 376: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments I'm already reading my second one. I probably won't be done until late this evening or tomorrow morning. I'm actually reading this one.

message 377: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11361 comments I'm still working on my first one, but getting fairly close to the end of it, and I plan on being home all day. I should be able to get through my current book and the next one easily by tonight...probably about 8 hours listening time total and the stuff I have planned for today can pretty much all be done while listening.

message 386: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31754 comments I'm rushing out the door, so I didn't check your books yet. Will do that later, but in the meantime - here is your next task!

Task 16 - 69. Read 6 books that have won/been nominated for an award.

Books selected for this task need to have won or been nominated for an award that is listed under 'Literary Awards' in the book details on the main book page. Please include the award/nomination in your completion posts, if there are multiple awards you only need to list the first one.

message 387: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2932 comments If this helps, here are some award lists:

RT Awards
Rita Awards

message 388: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments I'm listening to this one. It's pretty funny so far. Plus i was able to snag it from my library 😁

Boyfriend Material (Boyfriend Material, #1) by Alexis Hall

message 389: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11361 comments Well, my tastes are obviously running to trash today...took me almost an hour to find something I was interested enough to click on before I found something that had won any kind of award! 😁 I've got lots of potential rereads that qualify, but kind of wanted to find something new.
I'm starting with North of Need (Hearts of the Anemoi, #1) by Laura Kaye . It's pretty short, so I should have time to finish a second book by tomorrow night, and since I'll be fine with a reread for the 2nd one I won't have any trouble finding something that works.

message 390: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2932 comments It took me a while to find something, too. All the things I liked on those lists, I've already read 🤣.

So, I'm going to try A Cowboy's Redemption (Cowboys Of The Rio Grande, #1) by Marin Thomas .

message 391: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11361 comments I didn't go with the lists...if I'd known how much trouble I was going to have I would have looked there first, but I had a lot of things in mind that were part of series that I knew other books in the series had won awards, but it just happened that none of the ones next up for me were winners. By the time I realized that wasn't working for me I kind of forgot about the lists...

message 392: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2932 comments So many books I found, the later books in the series had awards, but the first one didn't, and I hate starting in the middle of the series unless a review says it works as a standalone 🤣

message 393: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments i guess i was lucky. my book was the first one I checked on my MnG list
yep, i'm bragging 😁

This book is soooo good. Everybody should read it. I'll be done with it tomorrow morning,

I'll be busy most of tomorrow. So if someone besides Karen has a second book, then go for it. Otherwise, I can start a second one on Sunday.

message 394: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 2932 comments I found one more that will work...I just know I'm the slowest one, so I'm not sure if I would finish a second before Sunday or not. But we can just see how it goes.

message 395: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments Okay. let me see if i can download something to listen to while i'm away. I might be able to start it tomorrow and finish it up sometime sunday.

message 396: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments i found this one. It's 9 hours. so i might be able to finish it before bed tomorrow....we'll see

The Many Sins of Lord Cameron (MacKenzies & McBrides, #3) by Jennifer Ashley

message 397: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11361 comments It's a good one Chan...maybe my favorite in the series.

message 398: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Nolly (booknerdchats) | 768 comments I should be able to read 2. I’m almost finished with my first and I should be able to complete one tomorrow. I had today off my daughter is on vacation with my parents… so I have plenty of reading time! 😁

message 399: by Chan (new)

Chan | 5093 comments okay, Liz. Since Karen says it's her fave in the series, i'm going to wait and read it when I can devote more of my attention to it.

So, I'll defer the second book to you. Thank you 🤗

message 400: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11361 comments Well, I said MAYBE my favorite...depending on the day I go back and forth between that one and Daniel's book. But both were solid 5 star reads for me!
