Still no idea what I want to play. Last night it was Spacebase Startopia, Man of Medan and Code Vein's turn. Maybe I should reinstall Grid and grind out a few more miles before Legends is out. Mostly kept going back to Children of Morta and Taxi Chaos

haha.
I played Rapture with the orbs on and it still felt like wandering the english countryside for eternity.
I feeling a bit like you.
Been playing Watch Dogs but honestly im not feeling it yet. Not sure if it will click if i persist but im still playing it while thinking what other game i should play.
Im going through my backlog and i cant find one game that pulls me. Weird...

Is God of War that as good everyone say?
I have it in my backlog for a long time but i never felt the pull to play it mainly because i never play a GoW game before,

The new God of War I loved. Defo one of my best games of last gen. It was my favourite of last gen but TLOU2 may have trumped it. GoW the reboot is definitely not quite the same as the older GoW games - it's more action adventure in the style of Tomb Raider (open world hubs). I actually really like the old GoW games but I played GoW1 and GoW3, but non of the others. Mainly because they were free on ps plus, and gave me chance to play them without paying - but knowing what I know now they are excellent games. I'd like to play GoW2 but I don't think there is a PS4 version - GoW2 I think was never remastered for PS4. I played GoW1 on PS3.

I've now got it in my head I want to plat Anthem. I've had all the trophies except one since probably a few days after launch but the last one is a little irritating. Collectables are tedious enough at the best of times but they took it to a whole new level. Not only do they spawn in random locations, the collectable itself is random, so half the time when you do eventually find one, it's one you've already got. Only 27 left to pick up now but no idea how long it'll take to be lucky enough to find the ones I need.
I'll probably be alternating between it and Diablo for the foreseeable future
Morning all :-). More Far Cry 6 for me over the weekend. Getting near to the end now - only four more missions to go. And I think once I do finish I'll spend a few hours messing around in the openworld doing some random stuff. Been a good Far Cry in my opinion. Best since 3.
Hi guys
Been fighting with Watch Dogs for the last couple of days.
Its not a bad game per say. At times its even quite good as it has that DE Human Revolution vibe when it comes to stealth and sci fi futuristic feel. But at the same time, something feels a bit off inthe overall game. The driving is really lackluster, the city is mostly cosmetic and im having a hard time following the story as its a bit all over the place.
Its a weird game and the mission structure almost made me rage quit last night as i needed to kill some dude that was driving and the games insist on throwing tons of quick infos on the screen that i dont have time to read and since there´s no shooting mechanic when driving, chasing someone is a task of chasing somoene, stop the car, get out, shoot him but he escapes, go back to the car, start chasing again, get killed, repeat from the beginning.
Its really annoying.
And doing a mission where i have to kill 15 guys, die in the last one of them and having to repeat all over again feels like a time waste, imo.
I sticking with it but i do hope it doenst get worse...

Yea I liked it but didn't love it. It's not a bad game but would I play a sequel, probably not. Sounds like you're gonna love the final mission of the game lol - no spoilers intended but I nearly quit the game on the final mission. It wasn't difficult just f'ing very annoying. Ubisoft seem to have a habit of creating annoying final missions game play wise.

Well, that´s nice to know. haha.
Ive been doing the main missions only as i cant be bothered with the crimes, the points of interest etc etc.
I just dont find the game imersive enough for me to do all that.
I just finished act 1 last night and half of me is really bored by it which is not great.
But its one of those games that if i stop playing because im not convinced when will i be playing it again?
That again, we should be playing for fun not like work... :/

Yeah, Now that im thinking about it i might put it on hold. Im probably not in the right mood for this type of game and the game itself is not that great so, instead of feeling excited im just feeling like i have to play it every night.
I may end up finally starting God of War.

Honestly everyone should try God of War. Worst case if you don't like it you can bin it off. For me, it's a superb game, one of the best of last gen. I wouldn't waste your time on Watch Dogs if you haven't played GoW. Combat is superb, characters are superb and the world is engrossing and really pulls you in. And it has the usual Sony exclusive polish.

Im pretty much convinced.
I really dont like the feeling of "having" to play something.
Even worst is imediately going from Spider Man, which was amazing, to Watch Dogs. Its not going well. lol.
I should have gone with Arkham Knight instead.

Are you sure you played God of War or something else Decky 😉. I played the god of war that won numerous awards and received numerous 9-10/10s.
Saying that I really don’t rate Spider-Man. Great open world map, good swinging mechanic but everything is just ok. Combat no better than a lot of other similar games, and not better than Batman, awful samey boss fights and story which is truly run of the mill. What I mean to say is each to their own.

To me at least, it's polished that's about it. There are countless other games that do what it does just as well, if not better. I know I'm definitely in the minority and normally I'd accept that it's probably me that's the crazy one but it really is average in so many respects. Honestly, for me it's up there with ME Andromeda as the biggest disappointments of last gen
Agree about Spidey, decent, mostly fun but nothing amazing. Miles Morales was a bit of an improvement
I think Spider Man was great because of the story and how invested in it i was as a player.
It was a simple game made to have fun which is something i really value these days.
I was a big Spidy back in the day which also contributed for sure.
As for GoW i really need to play it to see what the fuss is all about.
As with Spider Man i really dont need a game to be innovative as long as it provides a solid, polished and quality experience.
If it manages to immerse me and make want to be in that world night after night thats enough for me.
As the years go by i think the main aspect in my gaming is definitely immersion. If it does the job then the game works, if it doenst then it doenst work for me despite its good or bad ratings.

Next up, probably more Diablo 2 for a while and I've half an eye on platting Doki Doki Literature Club Plus (which in terms of entertainment is the opposite end of the spectrum from GoW to me ;) ). People will ignore it because of how it looks but it's the only game in recent memory that have had parts of it that have had me laughing and thinking brilliant.
Half tempted to go back to Dragon Quest XI as well since I've only one trophy left in the Definitive version. I'd have to start from scratch though, don't think it's the kind of game that automatically uploads saves to the cloud and I didn't transfer any data from the PS4 Pro to PS5. Having played through the base version and the definitive version already, I'm thinking a 3rd time may be too much though

Absolutely amazing game.

Without Googling it this is how I understand it -
Miles Morales was introduced in Ultimate Spider-Man. Subsequently Ultimate Peter Parker died and Miles became the Ultimate Spider-Man. Marvel had Ultimatum which was a horrible Loeb hack job to reset the universe and kill everyone, which everyone hated and didn't work as they revived the Ultimate franchise briefly afterwards anyway.
Marvel then had a cross line event which merged all the universes bringing ultimate Miles Morales into the main continuity. That was retconned somewhat i.e. old man Logan was booted in favour of the better known one, but Miles remained and is now part of 616.
Honestly, I think Bendis did a fantastic job introducing a half black half hispanic superhero and making him similar but with his own version of the spider powers. This is much preferable than the new fad of gender and race swapping happening all over the shop. Ironically Miles hasn't appeared in the MCU...yet.

F me! And for $70b. Wow they really are serious. I thought $7.5b for Bethesda was serious but this takes it to a whole new level. Surely this can't mean COD goes onto game pass lol and is an MS exclusive. TBH I know I'm currently XBox centric mainly - have been Playstation centric previously - but I don't see this acquistion as a good thing. All depends on what MS do with the games. Still would have to be approved in various territories before it completes - could be seen as starting a monopoly maybe, don't know. A chance it may not get regulatory approval.

Those are good points mate.
It really seems that MS wants to monopolize the industry.
If that means better games then ok but i wonder at what point MS will break to greed. Hopefully never but...

I think MS have a good (I probably mean bad) track record in being greedy but saying that a lot of businesses tend to want to maximise profits. They have a history with industry monopoly with Windows so just saying.

Think Game Pass will get a price hike soon?
Maybe it'll wake Sony up, as they've been very half-assed of late.
That's what I was just thinking. Game pass surely must go up in price. Even if it does it could still be a good deal if it has even more games coming to games pass day one. I've saved myself a ton in cash with games pass.
BTW - you don't even need to pay a penny. Collect MS points and get it for free.

I finished my renegade play through of Mass Effect. Still a great game. I also finished up Fire Watch because I didn't want to start up Mass Effect 2. I've officially hit a wall, and have no desire to game whatsoever right now. I don't know how you continue at your crazy pace Deckard...

hahaha.
I think Sony is in a really bad spot t this point.
They NEED to sell PS5 and i think they might wake up for that reality much too late.
I´ve been a Playstation guy pretty much all my console gaming years. I never intended to go to Xbox at all but i feel like Sony is forcing me to.
I know about the chip shortages and all that but i do get the sense that Sony isnt very worried to lose the market because "gamers will eventually get one.
What i think they are failing to understand is that things change in a blink of an eye.
Playstation may become irrelevant if all those ps4 gamers dont make the transition to the PS5 quickly due to the lack of consoles.
By the time the situation normalizes in 2023 or 2024 most of them may already be lost to Xbox due to availability and gaming options.
At least that´s what i think based on my own expectations.

Not sure what to make of Sony at the moment. They're selling out of PS5 consoles in minutes on every restock (saying that so are MS with the Series X, but do seem to have good availability of S), but since this new console generation I don't think Sony are doing anything that much better than MS exclusive wise (there's not much in it to date IMO). I just can't see how MS wouldn't be the more attractive option with its own exclusives, Bethesda and Activision games being exclusive to XBox and on games pass day one - that's a very compelling proposition to the consumer. If Sony don't have a games pass equivalent with their own titles day one, and some third parties day one, then I know which console I'll be sticking with. I know Sony are soon to have their own "games pass" but by all accounts it's tailored more to the back catalogue and not new exclusives. They may as well not bother with Sony "games pass". Though let's see what happens. Sony do excellent exclusives - my favourite games of last gen were Sony - but times are changing to the subscription model.

BTW, I pre-ordered Elden Ring. Also bought a 20th anniversary Xbox controller.

It is. Activision's value has halved with all the bad publicity. This made the acquisition too tantalising for M$.
Maybe I'm being naive but my hopes for this merger are
Bob Kotick gets booted
Studios like Beenox, High Moon and Infinity Ward get to drop COD and do something for themselves (I quite enjoyed the High Moon Transformer games)
No annual COD iterations but a decent meaty one every 2-3yrs
and number 1
the employees who actually make the games get a fair salary and work/life balance

Plus I like my plats ;)

Don't think I'll be platting Doki Doki Literature Club Plus either. I've only one unlockables related trophy to get, but to get it I need to rely on the random chance one of them pops up, and from what I've read it's a less than 2% chance of happening. Ah well, still think its great.
Just Monika
Probably more Diablo 2 for me next, with a little Beautiful Desolation maybe. Played a little of it and seems fairly interesting.
Have a weird urge to play that game that I refuse to acknowledge is a Mass Effect again. Probably just so I can moan about all they did wrong ;)
Started Aliens Fireteam Elite last night. Only did the first mission. Thought it was pretty good so far. Nothing special, probably more of a AA game. Not as good as Back4Blood but it's fun. Has that Aliens movie feel, great sound effects (sound like Aliens guns) and enemies come at you from all around - the ceiling, ducts all directions and sneak up on you too. Thought I was going to fail the first mission at the end at the hoard moment but my AI buddy revived me fortunately. Of course no doubt better with Mates but I think I'll keep playing it on my own. There are only 12 missions so I reckon it will only be a 6-8 hour game before I start Mass Effect 1 and finish Far Cry 6 this weekend.
Morning all
Been playing Arkham Knight for a couple of days and initially i was not feeling it but last night i think the game finally clicked.
I gotta say though, coming from Spider Man´s agility and gameplay, Batman feels like a tank to control, and im not refering to the batmobile. lol

I see Rainbow Six Extraction and Hitman 1, 2 and 3 are coming to games pass. Good additions but probably not for me. I tried Hitman once and it really didn't click and Extraction might be worth a try but it looks like one of those games probably best played with others due to the nature of using the right gadgets, tactics etc.

And we've seen what developers are like - if there's a fad about, half of them will try their hand (like walking sims or battle royales), are we going to see games designed specifically to be appealing to MS? Or games designed to maximise their profits once they are on GP, through the likes of MTs and DLC? It's seems like it's forcing external developers to play safe rather than encouraging innovation.
Another reason I'm not too fond of it is - Xbox chooses the games that are added and they choose what is taken away. Doesn't matter how varied the choice is, at the end of the day someone else is limiting what I should or shouldn't be playing, which doesn't sit right with me.
Just my opinion, which by default is wrong ;)

I said it before and i say it again. I think GP is amazing for for us gamers but terrible for developers just like Amazon Music and Spotify are a godsend for customers but terrible for bands and labels.
I havent bought an album for years now and i still have a gigantic collection of cd´s that i barely touch form back inthe day, so i was someone who bought a lot of albums.
Right now, buying an album just seems stupid because i have Amazon Music. Its great for me but how is this good for the artists that need to sell albums?

I think it's yet to pan out how beneficial or not it may be for devs. I've heard devs say it makes a big positive difference to their revenue (from smaller devs) but not heard anything negative from devs yet. And I've also heard it allows for experimentation in games as people are more willing to try a new game that they don't have to pay up front for. Perhaps that's just the way it's been artificially slanted in the gaming news feed, don't know. Also, it doesn't replace direct sales, it sits along side them and only a fraction of third party new releases will go to games pass on day one. It's like a double dip of revenue - take Hitman for example, sold well, almost certinaly not selling much now but another revenue stream due to Games Pass. So it's not the big replacement like Spotify where everything seems to go to streaming straight away - although who knows if this may change in the future. I still think we're in the early days and yet to see how it really impacts devs revenue and quality. Personally not worried at the moment - currently it seems like a big benefit for all concerned but time will tell.
