IMO the S is pointless unless you have an old 1080 TV and no plans to upgrade. You'll play a Series X for the next decade.

Better than my only option of paying 150% over retail to get it now. The option to get a system without bundled items at a mark up seems fantastic to me.I'm still holding out until I can capture this elusive beast in the wild.
Being feeling a little unsettled gaming wise, nothing is quite scratching the itch. Went to go back to Phoenix Point and of course the latest save was corrupted and the previous one was 5 days prior. Kind of lost the motivation after that.Reinstalled Kingdoms of Amalur…... and deleted straight away. Not a reflection on the game, just my motivation to continue with it
Think it's time to get stuck into Lost Judgment properly though do think it's a bit weird - hard boiled detective vs …..school bullies. A Yakuza type game where you beat up kids. We'll see how it goes. Not really sure it's what I'm in the mood for either
Another day. another corrupted save - this time Disciples: Liberation. It wasn't a big deal this time, the previous save was just a few minutes before. Don't know whether I've just been unlucky with the games or it's a problem with my PS5 (or maybe just PS5s in general) as I've a strong feeling the crashes with Death Stranding I was having the other week were partly save game related too.

I seem to remember issues with corrupted files with rest mode when it was launched. Im probably wrong but its worth the check.
I think i found a good gaming flow atm with Rise of the TR. Im really enjoying it and the exploration and actions pieces are really fun.
If i get a bit bored i´ll play Zombie or Divinity cause i really dont want to force myself to play a single game right now.

Dusted off Quantum Break, because I don't want to finish Xcom yet. Didn't realized where I was at in the Game. Found myself facing off in what I believe is the final battle within an hour or so, then had to shut it down. I won't get a chance to play until this weekend, but I very well may finish Quantum, Xcom, and then start something new...or old...who knows?Bummer about your save issues Deckard. That's type of thing that will make me banish a game to the backlog. Which, let's be honest, is closer to a video game old age home than anything.

I've got into Dishonored a bit more. I had the day off today and spent a long time on one mission, managing to not get detected or kill anyone. I'd previously dismissed this as being completely impossible but I'm getting the hang of the powers and how to combine them now.

I'm mostly playing Lost Judgment, not that it's totally hooked me but more that I can't think of anything else to play. I'll play it for a while, then go to take a break from it and look for something else, only to go back because nothing is looking appealingI see Elden Ring is available for pre-order, looking forward to that. And shockingly for a next gen game, it's been priced at £50 rather than the current usual - lets charge an extra £20, nobody will mind, honest
Yeah, I don't pre-order (or even buy full price games) as a rule. From has never disappointed me though. The last two games I bought early were Dark Souls 2 & 3. I haven't watched the new game play footage but I heard it described as "Zelden Ring" and having interesting magic that reminded some of Dragon's Dogma. That is enough to put me on to purchasing the deluxe edition early.

So, i decided not to pay upfront for a Series X as i dont feel confortable to pay 500 bucks and having to wait 5 to 6 weeks and probably having to wait more 4 ot 5 weeks after that.
So, and after watching tons of videos on it, im going for a Series S with a 1 or 2 TB external storage as a xmas gift to myself.
I´ll subscribe to gamepass and i think its a great console to have on my living room (which is almost white too) for me and my kids.
I found out with tremendous joy that Halo Infinite will be available for the One. Now I don't have to buy a console for one game (yes, I was thinking seriously about it).Found out with tremendous sorrow that Dean Stockwell passed away over the weekend. RIP Dean. Without them you could only play XBox One games from an external drive - as in a standard HDD (disk or solid state). Although if you buy a standard external solid state drive transferring Series S games between internal and external is very quick.
Also before subscribing to games pass check to see if MS still convert xbox gold to games pass for a £1. Gold is cheaper and you'd get games pass/ultimate for the price of a gold sub. And, if they still do it, you can stack it for a max of 3 years. Looking at the following reddit thread (most recent posts) they still do it:

Plus over time if you collect MS points (from the rewards section of your MS account and in the rewards Xbox app) you can get a free month of ultimate for 12000 MS points. In the last few weeks I've manged to get three months for free just through collecting MS points.

REgarding the storage im going for an external drive cause paying 200 or 300 bucks for a proprietary expansion is nuts.
Im not planning to play the games i have in my PS4 backlog.
It just to play all the games i dont intend to play in the PS4 and probably Cyberpunk 2077. lol.
Its gonna be a mental itch to play and not earn trophies though...

If you’re not going for the Xbox expansion card I would go for an external SSD rather than external HDD. The speed improvement is definitely worth it in terms of load times for Xbox one games and transfer times between internal and external for series s game transfers. Remember you can’t play series S games from external drives except the official expansion card.
I got the 1TB expansion card for £180 and it behaves exactly the same as the internal drive. Pricey but it was a present to myself after a good yearly bonus.
One thing I forgot to mention is if you do get an external SSD it’s best to get one with USB 3.1 Gen 2 as this will give you the highest speeds. You can buy an SSD and put it in a caddy enclosure which is sometimes the cheaper option. E.g.

Count me among those who loved Quantum Leap. An iconic character; RIP Dean.Enjoy the Series S Glass. I've had a few friends pick one up as well due to trouble getting the X. It's still a giant upgrade, and Game Pass is just the best. You can even play Flight Simulator and fly by your house to break in the new console!
In other Quantum news, I did end up finishing Quantum Break over the weekend. There were some fantastic moments overall. I enjoyed it. Maybe a bit too ambitious for its own good. I enjoyed the plot but actual game mechanics were stretched fairly thin. Many, many corridors connected to battle arenas with the same enemies. Time manipulation powers were fun. It made me excited to play Control at some point. 7/10
Also finished the main campaign of Xcom 2. No soldier casualties, but it took a lot of effort to make that happen. I will save the expansion for the next time I'm feeling like to turn-based tactics. 9.5/10.
No idea what to play next...

Forza is definitely one I'm going to miss if I don't go dual gen again. My common sense is telling me that there's little/no point, it's likely to end up the same situation as last gen - one machine gathering dust most of the time. But yeah I definitely wouldn't mind playing FH5

When we get near the end of the gen I'd love to just swap someone for a couple of months. I would like to try out those PS exclusives I've missed out on. Horizon, Last of Us, Days Gone. I don't know which of the newest or upcoming titles would be must plays. Spent an hour looking through my library and game pass last night...couldn't pick out my next game.

I have no trouble with my next games from games pass. FH5 currently and then Halo infinite in a few weeks time. Of late though to play Back4Blood, The Ascent, Maneater, Quake remaster, Control, MS Flight Simulator, Destroy All Humans, Psychonauts 2, Doom Eternal, Zombie Army 4, Prey, Destiny 2 all on games pass has been a massive saving. And to think Metro Exodus, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and A Plague Tale have all been on there too. I know it sounds like I'm justifying it but honestly I love games pass - so much that I've played for free. And next year Mass Effect Trilogy will be on there too no doubt as EA put all of there titles on there eventually. Such good value.

R(ob) - I've played many of those as well. I think I just have a bit of an Xcom hangover and am having trouble moving on, lol. Dark Souls 3 DLC, Sekiro replay, Evil Within 2, Scarlet Nexus, Destiny, Back 4 Blood are all currently in consideration.
Glass - Video games and consoles are easily justified as the best entertainment value; $ per hour out there. Game Pass only boosts that value proposition. Enjoy guilt free!

I guess you really enjoyed Xcom? I played the first, think it was on PS3, and although I actually quite enjoyed it - not usually a game I would play, think it was on ps plus - however I perma died after several hours unless I started it all over again.

I'm indoctrinating myself into getting a One S. Yes that's right - a One S, not a Series S.
The 1TB 1 S with a 4K Blu-Ray drive, plays all the games I want it to to a standard I am more than happy with :)
Looking forward to getting stuck into the GTA Trilogy today...… yet somehow still feel the need to download Skyrim for PS5. Did 100% on the 360 & platted both the PS4 & PSVR versions, yet still I'm probably going to get stuck into it yet again.

So i bought the Series S.

I havent played much yet. I mostly installed games and my kids have been playing Goat Simulator the whole weekend.
I did played a bit of Fallout 3 (it loaded my xbox 360 saves ) and i was in shock due to how fast the loadings are.
A reload is pretty much instant and that will change completely the way i play it. Amazing!
I have to hold on a bit until my SSD external disk arrives in the next days as i already have 50% of my storage full.
So far im very pleased with my purchase and it will be more then enough until i eventually find a PS5 (probably in 2030...).

I've been playing Battlefield 2042 most of this weekend. I know we don't have many multiplayer gamers here except for probably me. Anyway, I've been into Battlefield since Bad Company 1 and every one since - it's basically my favourite and go to multiplayer. I'm really struggling to like it, and it may be the first Battlefield I might not play as much as the previous. I can't get into the gun play - it's changed, assault rifles are useless, the maps are way too big and so I seem to spend a lot of time running, they've ruined the class system, vehicles are way too over powered, the maps are bland, I don't like playing against PC players as mouse and keyboard means they have quicker aiming to quicker kills, the list goes on. I prefer smaller themed maps like Battlefield 1 and V. I did give the Xbox One version a go which seems more to my taste - smaller maps - but the graphics are't as good. No doubt I'll give it more of a chance.
I've fallen down the Skyrim rabbit hole again, so probably wont be seen for the next 200 hours
Hopped back on Destiny. I do love that gunplay. Might hang on for a bit, or wait till the next season starts to dive in more. Think I started late in the season. I'm playing Titan class for the first time so I think there is a bunch of content related to that I'll need to do.Then, purchased Dark Souls: Remastered. I'm going to blame Elden Ring hype. I've never really needed a reason to start up a new souls playthrough, but now I've got one. Already rang both bells and will be headed into Sen's Fortress tonight. Going strength/pyro.

I played a bit of the VR version and after 10 minutes i was already doing my usual routines in there.
Im now planning on replaying Morrowind on the Series S.
That game was a huge part of my life back in the day. I missed a lot of classes and night´s out to play that game so the idea to revisit that world is really great.
Not so much for Oblivion though as i really didnt like the game without the mods. That autoleveling stupidity ruined the game for me.

Finished Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Really enjoyed it. Played in 60 fps mode which helped to keep the game at an enjoyable pace.
It was a great lighthearted adventure and a nice ride from start to finish.
I´ll give it a 8/10,
Also played some Fallout 3 on the S and, with the instant loadings and the 60 fps boost, it feels like a ocmpletely diferent game. So much enjoyable.
Not sure what to play next now.

I want to try FH 5 but i have to wait for the external drive cause its 100+ GB). I dont think i have that much free at this point. lol
I also will definitly play the Gears games starting with 1.
I can either buy an S right away or i can order an X and wait 5 weeks for it (which i have to pay in advance right away).
Really not sure what to do...
