I'm still holding out until I can capture this elusive beast in the wild.

Reinstalled Kingdoms of Amalur…... and deleted straight away. Not a reflection on the game, just my motivation to continue with it
Think it's time to get stuck into Lost Judgment properly though do think it's a bit weird - hard boiled detective vs …..school bullies. A Yakuza type game where you beat up kids. We'll see how it goes. Not really sure it's what I'm in the mood for either

Hey Deck
Do you put your PS5 in rest mode?
I seem to remember issues with corrupted files with rest mode when it was launched. Im probably wrong but its worth the check.
I think i found a good gaming flow atm with Rise of the TR. Im really enjoying it and the exploration and actions pieces are really fun.
If i get a bit bored i´ll play Zombie or Divinity cause i really dont want to force myself to play a single game right now.

No, I've never trusted the rest modes so always shut the PS5 down completely when I'm done

Bummer about your save issues Deckard. That's type of thing that will make me banish a game to the backlog. Which, let's be honest, is closer to a video game old age home than anything.
Hi all,
I've got into Dishonored a bit more. I had the day off today and spent a long time on one mission, managing to not get detected or kill anyone. I'd previously dismissed this as being completely impossible but I'm getting the hang of the powers and how to combine them now.

I see Elden Ring is available for pre-order, looking forward to that. And shockingly for a next gen game, it's been priced at £50 rather than the current usual - lets charge an extra £20, nobody will mind, honest

Hi all. Been playing COD Vanguard. Completed six of the nine missions. The campaign is OK, not one of COD's best. It has some good levels and some bad ones - the Battle of Midway flying level IMO is awful. And it has some strange gameplay moments - a bad boss fight in one level. The graphics are amazing though on Series X. Looks to be a really short campaign even for COD. Also played around 8 hours of the multiplayer. I like the MP - I think they've done a lot of good maps that nail the WW2 feel - much better than the COD WW2 a few years ago. It also uses the modern warfare engine which means it has a quick time to kill, really good movement and some cracking graphics. And there is a really good selection of 20 maps. Some issues with spawn points but I'm sure they'll be fixed. Also plays well and has better graphics than Black Ops Cold War. Although I really like the Cold War MP. Enjoying it a lot on the whole - but I tend to like WW2 games. This week I'll be switching to Battleffield 2042 and then be dipping in and out of both.
Morning all
So, i decided not to pay upfront for a Series X as i dont feel confortable to pay 500 bucks and having to wait 5 to 6 weeks and probably having to wait more 4 ot 5 weeks after that.
So, and after watching tons of videos on it, im going for a Series S with a 1 or 2 TB external storage as a xmas gift to myself.
I´ll subscribe to gamepass and i think its a great console to have on my living room (which is almost white too) for me and my kids.

Found out with tremendous sorrow that Dean Stockwell passed away over the weekend. RIP Dean. You brought so many hours of joy to me in Quantum Leap and was so pleased that on meeting you, you were the nicest person in showbiz that I had met (and I've met a few ...)

Glass. The Series S/X expansion card 1TB costs approx £200 and approx £400 for the 2TB (whatever the equivalent is in Euros). Without them you could only play XBox One games from an external drive - as in a standard HDD (disk or solid state). Although if you buy a standard external solid state drive transferring Series S games between internal and external is very quick.
Also before subscribing to games pass check to see if MS still convert xbox gold to games pass for a £1. Gold is cheaper and you'd get games pass/ultimate for the price of a gold sub. And, if they still do it, you can stack it for a max of 3 years. Looking at the following reddit thread (most recent posts) they still do it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comm...
Plus over time if you collect MS points (from the rewards section of your MS account and in the rewards Xbox app) you can get a free month of ultimate for 12000 MS points. In the last few weeks I've manged to get three months for free just through collecting MS points.

Thanks for the tips mate.
I´ll definitly look into it as im very noob regarding the Xbox stuff.
REgarding the storage im going for an external drive cause paying 200 or 300 bucks for a proprietary expansion is nuts.
Im not planning to play the games i have in my PS4 backlog.
It just to play all the games i dont intend to play in the PS4 and probably Cyberpunk 2077. lol.
Its gonna be a mental itch to play and not earn trophies though...

While most tend to remember him for his character in Quantum Leap, I will never forget him as Dr Yueh in the ‘84 David Lynch version of Dune. Thought he was great in that role, even though he had to be the traitor that helped bring House Atreides down.
At least he died naturally, and presumably painlessly. RIP Dean Stockwell.

If you’re not going for the Xbox expansion card I would go for an external SSD rather than external HDD. The speed improvement is definitely worth it in terms of load times for Xbox one games and transfer times between internal and external for series s game transfers. Remember you can’t play series S games from external drives except the official expansion card.
I got the 1TB expansion card for £180 and it behaves exactly the same as the internal drive. Pricey but it was a present to myself after a good yearly bonus.
One thing I forgot to mention is if you do get an external SSD it’s best to get one with USB 3.1 Gen 2 as this will give you the highest speeds. You can buy an SSD and put it in a caddy enclosure which is sometimes the cheaper option. E.g.

Yes looks good.

Enjoy the Series S Glass. I've had a few friends pick one up as well due to trouble getting the X. It's still a giant upgrade, and Game Pass is just the best. You can even play Flight Simulator and fly by your house to break in the new console!
In other Quantum news, I did end up finishing Quantum Break over the weekend. There were some fantastic moments overall. I enjoyed it. Maybe a bit too ambitious for its own good. I enjoyed the plot but actual game mechanics were stretched fairly thin. Many, many corridors connected to battle arenas with the same enemies. Time manipulation powers were fun. It made me excited to play Control at some point. 7/10
Also finished the main campaign of Xcom 2. No soldier casualties, but it took a lot of effort to make that happen. I will save the expansion for the next time I'm feeling like to turn-based tactics. 9.5/10.
No idea what to play next...
Morning all. Started playing Forza Horizon 5 last night. Yet another new game in my current play list lol. I planned to play it for an hour just to see what it's like and found myself hooked and played it for almost 4 hours. It's definitely the best FH of the series and that's saying something as they've all been excellent games. The graphics are amazing - think I'm decided to stick with performance mode as it's still 4k albeit slightly less detailed than quality mode. The world is varied and detailed. I think the main difference they've nailed this time is the constant lure to move you on to the next thing, the next race, the next area, the next challenge - seems they've sussed how to keep up the momentum of keeping you hooked. I like the way the campaign, story, the season are all rolled into one. In FH4 it was all very much seperate and it kinda made the game disjointed. I think it deffo deserves 10/10 on what I've played so far. Only issue is there is far too much to play at the moment - not had this "issue" in a long time :-).

Yea I agree at least until now little reason to go dual console. Last gen I was mainly ps4 for years for obvious reasons. I wouldn’t be without games pass now though so I think I’m defo more Xbox focussed for the future. I’d say 80% of the games I want to play end up on games pass and then some that i wouldn’t normally play that turn out to be games I enjoy but didn’t know it. I think I’m waiting on the PS5 slim before I go dual console again.

Spent an hour looking through my library and game pass last night...couldn't pick out my next game.

I have no trouble with my next games from games pass. FH5 currently and then Halo infinite in a few weeks time. Of late though to play Back4Blood, The Ascent, Maneater, Quake remaster, Control, MS Flight Simulator, Destroy All Humans, Psychonauts 2, Doom Eternal, Zombie Army 4, Prey, Destiny 2 all on games pass has been a massive saving. And to think Metro Exodus, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and A Plague Tale have all been on there too. I know it sounds like I'm justifying it but honestly I love games pass - so much that I've played for free. And next year Mass Effect Trilogy will be on there too no doubt as EA put all of there titles on there eventually. Such good value.

Dark Souls 3 DLC, Sekiro replay, Evil Within 2, Scarlet Nexus, Destiny, Back 4 Blood are all currently in consideration.
Glass - Video games and consoles are easily justified as the best entertainment value; $ per hour out there. Game Pass only boosts that value proposition. Enjoy guilt free!

I guess you really enjoyed Xcom? I played the first, think it was on PS3, and although I actually quite enjoyed it - not usually a game I would play, think it was on ps plus - however I perma died after several hours unless I started it all over again.

I'm indoctrinating myself into getting a One S. Yes that's right - a One S, not a Series S.
The 1TB 1 S with a 4K Blu-Ray drive, plays all the games I want it to to a standard I am more than happy with :)

I bought B2 VR last month and i didnt even booted it once.
I read that, with the aim controller (which i own) its even better then the regular version.

Finished the COD Vanguard campaign. Yea defo not one of COD's best. There were some really poor sections in it - destroy three tanks in a square - literally in a square where you go around the perimeter with zero resistance and blow them up with an RPG in about 30 seconds. Snipe three flame thrower troops that pose no threat, they move at a snail's pace and you snipe without even trying. And then several sections were there was next to no ammo and you spend your time picking up weapons (mostly SMGs) with 10 bullets in them each. And then other sections where there are ammo crates every 10 feet. Other levels were better but on the whole it was a half ass attempt at what is normally at least a well paced and varied campaign with blockbuster actions sequences. I mean the flying level was very poor and there was a tank section and you don't even get to drive a tank. All a tick box exercise with no effort put into it. There have been some decent COD campaigns - not this time. 6/10 on the r-score-o-meter.
I’m not even going to attempt it. Took me 15 attempts to complete the final mission on noob difficulty.
Morning all
So i bought the Series S.
I really like that little beast.
Havent spent a dime yet and already got a huge backlog due to Gamepass Ultimate. lol.
I feel dirty cause this is not The Way of the Haw!
I havent played much yet. I mostly installed games and my kids have been playing Goat Simulator the whole weekend.
I did played a bit of Fallout 3 (it loaded my xbox 360 saves ) and i was in shock due to how fast the loadings are.
A reload is pretty much instant and that will change completely the way i play it. Amazing!
I have to hold on a bit until my SSD external disk arrives in the next days as i already have 50% of my storage full.
So far im very pleased with my purchase and it will be more then enough until i eventually find a PS5 (probably in 2030...).
If anyone wants to add me my username is Xisto76.

I'll add you Glass - mine is: Chips R Up. Enjoy your S - seems like you've got off to a good start.
I've been playing Battlefield 2042 most of this weekend. I know we don't have many multiplayer gamers here except for probably me. Anyway, I've been into Battlefield since Bad Company 1 and every one since - it's basically my favourite and go to multiplayer. I'm really struggling to like it, and it may be the first Battlefield I might not play as much as the previous. I can't get into the gun play - it's changed, assault rifles are useless, the maps are way too big and so I seem to spend a lot of time running, they've ruined the class system, vehicles are way too over powered, the maps are bland, I don't like playing against PC players as mouse and keyboard means they have quicker aiming to quicker kills, the list goes on. I prefer smaller themed maps like Battlefield 1 and V. I did give the Xbox One version a go which seems more to my taste - smaller maps - but the graphics are't as good. No doubt I'll give it more of a chance.

Then, purchased Dark Souls: Remastered. I'm going to blame Elden Ring hype. I've never really needed a reason to start up a new souls playthrough, but now I've got one. Already rang both bells and will be headed into Sen's Fortress tonight. Going strength/pyro.

I played a bit of the VR version and after 10 minutes i was already doing my usual routines in there.
Im now planning on replaying Morrowind on the Series S.
That game was a huge part of my life back in the day. I missed a lot of classes and night´s out to play that game so the idea to revisit that world is really great.
Not so much for Oblivion though as i really didnt like the game without the mods. That autoleveling stupidity ruined the game for me.

Finished Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Really enjoyed it. Played in 60 fps mode which helped to keep the game at an enjoyable pace.
It was a great lighthearted adventure and a nice ride from start to finish.
I´ll give it a 8/10,
Also played some Fallout 3 on the S and, with the instant loadings and the 60 fps boost, it feels like a ocmpletely diferent game. So much enjoyable.
Not sure what to play next now.
Probably RE Village.

Glad you're enjoying your S Glass. If I were to recommend any games on games pass they would be The Outer Worlds (by the same people who made Fallout NV), Control, The Ascent and Psychonauts 2. Maneater is worth a look for the shallow fun factor. I enjoyed them all, assuming you haven't played them already. Of course there are loads of good games on games pass but thought I'd avoid recommending the obvious big hitters like Forza Horizon 5, Gears 5 etc - depends on whether you like driving games, and Gears.

Thanks mate. I already played TOW and Control but not The Ascent, and Psychonauts 2. I think the latter is on gamepass if i recall.
I want to try FH 5 but i have to wait for the external drive cause its 100+ GB). I dont think i have that much free at this point. lol
I also will definitly play the Gears games starting with 1.

Really not sure what to do...
I honestly dont need a new console but i have dat itch to buy one. The X would be perfect but i really dont feel like paying 500 bucks and have to wait 5 weeks for it.
Any mature or hawing advice?
