I just reread the first quarter of Percy Jackson and the lightning thief (up until chapter 7). I had forgotten how, by lack of a better explanation, 'simply' the book was written. (By simply I mean that it's written like you'd talk and think.) This does make the book really easy to read and a lot harder to put away!

So far I'm enjoying it, although not a lot is happening yet. The description of the battles that have happened are quite brief, and I feel like they could have been longer. On the other hand, I think the briefness also fits with Percy not really knowing what is going on, and therefore not strategizing as much as in fight scenes in other books.

I just finished the first book! Had a lot of fun rereading it!

I want to stick to the battle scenes here actually. After Percy arrived at Camp Half-blood, I noticed the battles got more detailed and longer, even if the fights maybe were shorter. I felt this was also a great, small way to show a character arc.

OMG Sanjana you are so right. I felt Apollo being a bit pushy when I read this book. And then I read Lore Olympus. Ig that's the normal trait for him?? haha

At first I really disliked Bianca as how can she just abandon her brother to an unknown camp and strangers?? Which sister does that. But then I could understand her point of view. She was forced to take up responsibility so young for someone which well doesn't leave much scope to live for oneself. So it is kinda understandable she wanted freedom and joined the hunters.
