Arundhati | 1454 comments And Mia welcome to this br thread. It is a bit chaotic in here with everyone at different books at a given point but we love a good discussion.

That's the reason why I don't loooove the series as much as I would've otherwise. And I rant often about that, which make the fans itchy about it.. but I hope you guys bear me. It's fun talking about a series!

Sure. I see you have strong negative feelings for few things, which I no way want to change. I have no interest carrying on this debate as it is based purely on opinions. Do carry on with posting your thoughts. Peace✌

Mia (miarose7) Chapter 8 : Is there any God of dreams in Greek Mythology? Those dreams are pretty convenient. Who controls them? Is Percy the only special kid who sees them all the time or everyone else gets one each day as well? If not, then why is Percy special?

(view spoiler)

message 171: by nαомι (new)

nαомι αndιno (nndno) | 393 comments yess I think Hypnos is the god of sleep (and also dreams ig?) but idk if he controls the dreams demigods have

message 172: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy (cassidyyy) | 690 comments yeah hypnos is the god of sleep and one of his kids has a minor scene in hoo where he controls someone's dream, so i'm guessing hypnos also controls dreams?? lol sorry if that was confusing

message 173: by Mia (new)

Mia (miarose7) Cassidy wrote: "yeah hypnos is the god of sleep and one of his kids has a minor scene in hoo where he controls someone's dream, so i'm guessing hypnos also controls dreams?? lol sorry if that was confusing"

Dreams of a demigod?

message 174: by nαомι (new)

nαомι αndιno (nndno) | 393 comments oops I searched it up now and:
Demigods usually have dreams or visions that have a meaning. Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams. As the god of dreams, Morpheus has divine authority and control over dreams. He can make people fall asleep and shape peoples' dream. When looking at his face, it makes the viewer sleep.

Throughout the series, demigods often have dreams of importance, indicating a message from someone else, or what may happen in the future.

message 175: by nαомι (last edited Jul 02, 2021 09:19PM) (new)

nαомι αndιno (nndno) | 393 comments Also Hypnos is Morpheus' father and this is what it says about him:
As the god of sleep, he has divine authority over sleep. The signature power that allows to him induce sleep, visions and even manipulate dreams in a very similar way that of his son Morpheus, but to a much more powerful degree.

message 176: by nαомι (new)

nαомι αndιno (nndno) | 393 comments So either one of them or their demigod kids can manipulate dreams ig

Oh.. and I was just reading in The Last Olympian that none of the demigods show any effects when Morpheus puts whole Manhattan on sleep. So maybe they can't control a demigods dreams as well.. because it doesn't makes sense if they could why would they allow Percy to see through so much and invade their plans!?

message 178: by nαомι (new)

nαомι αndιno (nndno) | 393 comments and also Apollo can put people to sleep because he did that in the Titan's curse but idk why

I just go with it 😂😂

message 179: by Mia (new)

Mia (miarose7) Book 5, Chapter 13 : God, is this world flawed! I hate the Titans! I hate the Olympians! Let the DemiGods rule! They are better than all those giant teenagers!

OOP OKAY LOL

message 194: by Arundhati (new)

Arundhati | 1454 comments Oooo Circe sounds intense. I think the Greek Gods were kinda weird and crazy. The original myths always surprise me. And their debauchery is so well known. Riordan was smart to cash on that idea and write this book because this makes soo much sense haha.

message 195: by Sanjana (new)

Sanjana | 1126 comments Circe depicts the Greek gods exactly as they are in the original myths...oof the debauchery, pettiness :/
But yeah Riordan is super smart to have cashed in on this idea before everyone else. He set the stage for Greek retellings

Ikr!!! In such short span I got to know so much about Greek mythology albeit through retellings. I have this series to thanks and of course Lore Olympus. Before these my count for greek retellings was literally 0.
