What are you reading in Feb. '15?

Also Swordspoint that's very entertaining.
I have some other books going on, but I'll focus on these two for now, since they're both so engaging.

It's an excellent book so far. The writing is unbelievably gripping.
I'm readingFirefight, although my kindle keeps crashing. Have tried a factory reset so hoping that works and I can read the rest.

About to start The slow regard of silent things. I love Pat Rothfuss' writing so I'm hoping to enjoy this after the tedium of Christopher Paolini's first three books in the Inheritance cycle.
Also dipping into The elephant in the classroom for work.

@ Lára I liked City of Stairs, a very peculiar book, recommended!
@ Jasprit let us know how you like The Darkness That Comes Before, it's one of my planned reads :)
@ Helen Should my kindle app die, the word panic wouldn't even start to describe my feelings ... hope your kindle is back to working mode now

Brisingr was hard to get through. I saw the reviews on the last book and gave up. Sad, but life's too short.
Slow Regard is tedious but I think if I had read a page or two at a time it would have been better. It's about nothing, afterall (I did audiobook).

Now onto Before They Are Hanged, my second taste of Joe Abercrombie. Only a few chapters in but enjoying it already.

So, I've just read We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, which isn't my usual fantasy fare but very good all the same. Next I think I might catch up on some GRRM. I must have read Game of Thrones over a decade ago, but I still haven't read the newest in the series!

Hi Charles! Thank you :) Oh yes you're right, I proudly declare I'm a fan of Janny Wurts, she's making me rediscover the whole epic fantasy genre. I cannot really believe how I could have missed her, and I'm very happy to be reading the Wars of Light and Shadow series now.

Hi, since the factory reset, crossing fingers for typing this, my kindle seems to be fine. Although, having to download all my books one at a time :(

I have a busy BotM month, and so I still have City of Stairs, The Sheep Look Up, The Three-Body Problem and Worldwired on deck for this month....
You can do it, Maggie. I was going to get Sherlock out of the way next but might have to start Malazan.

I've decided I'm going to work alphabetically through my books from now on, so Joe Abercormbie's Before they are hanged and Terry Brooks' The sword if Shannara are next.

Listening to Hominids now - Sawyer has some very intriguing ideas in his books, though the execution is not always the best.
Blasted through the Muirwood trilogy by Jeff Wheeler and really liked it. It had a very classic fantasy feel to it, but fresh enough, and a great female MC who was very feisty.
The Wretched of Muirwood
The Blight of Muirwood
The Scourge of Muirwood.
And now I'm charging right through the Ben Aaronovich urban fantasy series, which I'm loving - just started book 4. I really like that the MC is just learning about magic and he's very gung ho, like a kid in a candy store - nice change from the burnt out, cynical detective noir thing. He's still snarky though :)
Midnight Riot
Moon Over Soho
Whispers Under Ground
I think I'm burnt out on the grimdark stuff - both of these series have dark happeneings, but the overall tone is just less bleak and I'm enjoying having good guys and women to root for :)

And I so want to read some manga but can't make myself to pick one either. I really shouldn't have started with 2nd S.Lynch's book. I like this one 3 times more than the 1st one

Glad I'm not the only one! I liked 'Red Seas' a lot more than the first book, too, although it seemed to have much poorer reviews when it came out.
Michele wrote: "I read Calculating God which was interesting as a conversation about God and science, but much too contrived in the plot.

I bought the Muirwood books in a sale, good to know that they're good.

I recently finished:
The Final Solution by Michael Chabon—a mystery about a missing parrot investigated by a doddering old "Sherlock Holmes"-like character. Wonderful! as is Chabon generally.
{book:House of Glass|21446092] by James Maertens book 1 of a YA+, Celtoid, Harry Potter like fantasy with a literary bent.
Crossover the 1st book in the href="https://www.goodreads.com/series/51705-cassandra-kresnov">Cassandra Kresnov series by Joel Shepherd. The series is a far future political/military epic Sci-Fi. The action never lets up. It's pure fun.
The Merro Tree by Katie Waitman one of the best alien-oriented Sci-Fi's I've read. It's on my favorites shelf.
Next up the be The Complete Lyonesse by Jack Vance. I've read Poul Anderson's King of Ys series. A comparison will be fun.

My son has to read it for school so i am reading it with him... Very good and unsettling...

you can go to the amazon website and manage your devices on your account :-)

Cheers, I've barely touched the surface, very slow and tedious.
Oh, and I'm reading Gardens of the Moon. I'd been preparing to whisper to Maggie that I didn't think I was positive that I could even possibly (like) it. But, I do. It's suddenly grabbed me by the collar.
