I'm reading Cienioryt by Krzysztof Piskorski. A very engaging and original story of Arahon Caranza Martenez Y'Grenata master in fencing, arm for hire and ex-spy. It is set in a world where the phrase "to be afraid of your own shadow" takes a completely new meaning.

Just finished Gardens of the Moon and I loved it! It was slow going at first with so many characters that I was reeling.. but once the plotlines all come together, it was absolutely gripping and fantastic!
I'm about halfway through Written in Red, which is one of the more interesting urban fantasies I've read (so far). It may or may not have made me snort with laughter in the middle of a quiet waiting room. :)
I'm halfway through Theft of Swords by Michael J. Sullivan. He is in another group I'm in and I was intrigued after checking out his profile. I'm enjoying it so far, it is very entertaining.
In a fantasy/scifi genre/sub genre I am slowly making my way through Rogues. This month I have also read or am reading:The Martian by Andy Weir
Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning
Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness
The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss
Finished The Republic of Thieves and it was slightly worse (ok, a lot worse) than the first two books, but I´m definitely curious about the 4th book. My only concern about all of it is that I´m afraid I´ll completely forget Scott Lynch´s name before that book is going to be released. Good thing I own all of his three books so I might take them out the shelf for a re/read, just to remind myself he still exist, but no promise here.Anyway, I´m reading three books now:
Náðarstund, Hannah Kent
Skugga-Baldur, Sjón
魔界王子 devils and realist 5 Makai Ouji Devils and Realist 5 , Madoka Takadono
Finished The Keeping Place. The story took a weird turn, so it's not my favorite. The series is starting to feel overly long, but I'll continue on with it. At the moment however, I'm taking a break from it and reading The Providence of Fire. Not very far in, but already hooked.
reading Gathering Blue by lois lowry. I'll probably end up reading the entire Giver quartet series. The next book i plan on reading will be a historical fiction book called The Last Mission by harry mazer... I just ordered it in the mail..so i am expecting it anyday.
Mili wrote: "Just finished The Way of Kings, starting The Emperor's Soul~"Steelheart is my fav. book. Firefight was good, but i still think steelheart was a little better.
Sanderson is good and so diverse. I loved the Stormlight books but also the Emperor's Soul and Sixth of the Duskwhich were tiny by comparison. I also loved the Reckoners which was completely different.
I finished Gardens of the Moon, TS I agree with your comments. I ended up loving it. The Martian, my latest read, was also excellent.

Are those books you´re two are talking about romance? I would like to try them, but only if they´re not ... uh, romance.
Helen, glad that you ended up loving Gardens of the Moon. I have started on the 2nd book, Deadhouse Gates.
Finished Sword & Mythos and, since it just came out on Kindle, I'm revisiting one of my all-time favorites: The Man of Gold, the first of M.A.R. Barker's novels set on the world of Tekumel.
Brandon Sanderson is the first writer I feel reading all books of. I try to spread them out and not read them all in a year =PStarted reading Daughter of Smoke & Bone, not bad so far =)
Finishing off Deadhouse Gates and just started The Thousand Names. Also hoping to start Words of Radiance, The Crimson Campaign, Rough Magick and Golden Son. There really aren't enough hours in the day!
Mili, that's what I did when I discovered Jane Austen, I still have one left.
TS, I'm trying not to read on until I get nearer the group start date or I'll forget what happens. I've noticed there's a thread in this group's sister group.
I've started Murder on the Orient Express.

Hahah Jane Austen is probably a delight to read, Im afraid since english isnt my first language that i wont follow (prefer reading in english). And Dutch translations, in my opinion, are terrible and shallow to read ><
Quickly picked up Days of Blood & Starlight to continue the series =) great story to fill the weekend =)
Mili wrote: "Quickly picked up Days of Blood & Starlight to continue the series =) great story to fill the weekend =)"Loved it and also the Sanderson books and the Martian.
Still reading Garden of stones trilogy. Very very good.
Mili wrote: "The trilogy sounds good, saved it =P"I have read it slowly due to lack of time and have enjoyed it more as a result.
I'm just about finished Gardens of the Moon...it's my second time reading it and I actually enjoyed it a lot more. I think I will have to revise my rating up from 3 stars to 4.Trying to decide whether to start Station Eleven, or Steles of the Sky next or just give in and go on to Deadhouse Gates. I'm worried I might lose track if I don't carry on right away...:)
Bev, I feel the same way when reading a story in a longer period. Its just that when you have the time you just read on and on xD some parts just dont sink in properly..Maybe choose a shorter book to read inbetween Justine, thats what I do sometimes~ So maybe Station Eleven to help you out xD
Also reading Gardens of the Moon. Doing a read of the whole series with another group, but am not sure yet if I'll do all of it or just a part. We'll see how it goes!

I absolutely loved Range of Ghosts. I'm guessing, if you're planning to read the last book, Justine, that the rest of the series is just as good? I'm looking forward to reading them, but they seem difficult to get hold of in the UK. Not sure they actually got picked up by a publisher over here. My copy of Range of Ghosts seems to be an import.
At the moment, I'm reading one book for review (Exile) and I've also just picked up Afterworlds. I really wanted to like Afterworlds, because I've heard so many good things about it, but so far it's really, really sloooow.
Resurrected Prince of Fools from "on-hold" list. Also reading 魔界王子 devils and realist 7巻 限定版
and thinking of placing Náðarstund on the "on-hold" and resurrect Burned
Right now I have just finished The Black Prism by Brent Weeks and am halfway through The Blinding Knife. It's a very interesting series with a unique system of magic and unforgettable characters I would definitely recommend these books, especially if you're already a fan of Week's Night Angel Trilogy.
Bev, is Garden's of Stones a complete series? I'm refusing to start unfinished ones, well that's my current plan.
For those of you who've read Malazan, I really need encouragements. I've had two false starts now, neither went halfway into Gardens of the Moon. I know it's a highly rated series, but it's proving incredibly tough. I need more reasons to go ahead with the series.
I grabbed Half a King by Joe Abercrombye from the library, projected start time: Wednesdays hair appointment.
@Amy....eesh...I meant Range of Ghosts...not Steles of the Sky! I am just starting the series not finishing it! Unfortunately my ereader died and the replacement hasn't yet arrived (which is another long and irritating tale) so I had to make a trip to the library and see what I could find available on the shelves at my local branch as of course, I had nothing on reserve. So it looks like I'll be reading The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August and The Golem and the Jinni. The problem with getting used to an ereader and a virtual library in your bag all the time is that you really get caught short with no books on reserve when things go awry!

If you want to read the series you might find it easier to do it with a group. Here are two that I know of:

Justine wrote: "@Amy....eesh...I meant Range of Ghosts...not Steles of the Sky! I am just starting the series not finishing it! Unfortunately my ereader died and the replacement ha..."Ah, ok. Well, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, because I thought it was a great book. I've just got to find a way to get hold of the next two without paying a fortune!
And I hope you get your new ereader soon! I'm not sure what I'd do without mine. It's so easy to get dependent on them - although I'll admit, I still have something of a habit when it comes to buying physical books as well. My shelves are groaning under the weight!
I finished Suldrun's Garden book 1 of the Lyonsees series by Jack Vance—very good mythic fantasy. I'm about a third of the way thru Killswitch book 3 of the Cassandra Kresnov Sci-Fi series—purely escapist fun.

For me, the initial parts where so many characters and seemingly different plotlines are introduced made it quite tough going. But it starts to tie in halfway through, and the results at the end are really worth it. I find that the Tor.com re-reads also help tremendously although you will want to skip the comments section to avoid spoilers.

He just throws you into the storm and expects you to find your bearings.
Been waiting in my library queue quite a while for Royal Assassin...finally my turn. Hope it's as good as the first.
