Horizon’s hands tremble, and this time she’s sure why. It’s rage. White-hot anger. Not directed only at Kalisse, but at Nuska, at the rebellion, at the whole damn world.
Rize subconsciously notes Kalisse’s limp, but ignores a twinge of regret. It was her own fault. Kalisse could’ve let it be. The injury was result of her own weakness.
Horizon stays on her knees, not quite trusting her balance just yet. “So, your not-girlfriend really wants me dead that badly, huh?” Her voice came as a low snarl, graciously free of tremors. “Does she hate you that much? Is she really so desperate as to take you down too?” A thought briefly flits through her mind. Or is Kalisse a threat, too?
Whatever the reason, Horizon finds it terribly annoying. If this is going to end in death, then let her come. Why prolong it any further?
But Rize finds her mind straying. Kalisse’s leg. What if… Her face angled down and hidden from the other by a veil of hair, she quickly scanned the room. Horizon hadn’t seen Kalisse lock the door, but she’d bet it really was locked. But how? From the inside, or… Could someone be outside? Would the computers do anything? Could she even access them? There was no telling
And with Kalisse’s leg, Horizon had more of a chance if it came to it. Maybe not much, but if she could at least get the door open, one of the other Gamemakers might hear…
Unnoticing, Horizon lets her mind wander with plans and possibilities, losing her focus on Kalisse—

Kalisse doesn't bother to answer Horizon's sharp words, knowing that if she did answer them, it would only prolong the intern's stream of hurtful words. And Kalisse was not in the mood to feel suicidal on top of everything else. That's when she hears footsteps.
Footsteps on the window.
Kalisse freezes and looks at the window on the other side of the room only to see it shatter in a million pieces as someone enters the lab from the outside.
(What the fuck?? Who the hell climbed up five storeys of smooth glass to get all the way up here? And why?)
But then Kalisse's heart stops beating as she realizes who just bursted (literally) into the room.
Nuska is standing there, a halo of shattered glass around her feet, as she holds up a gun at Kalisse's head.
"Drop to the fucking floor or I gut you like your friends," she growls, cocking the gun.
Horizon thought this day couldn’t get any worse. Her best friend turned out to be a traitor and was planning to kill her. Yay. That was the all-time low of her day, right? Wrong.
She stands up slowly, cool amber eyes flickering.
“So,” —Horizon fights to keep her calm and nonchalant— “Nuska, I presume?” The look on Kalisse’s face is confirmation enough. “The infamous leader of the rebellion. I’ve heard quite a lot about you.” Horizon sends a withering glance at Kalisse, then averts her eyes back to Nuska. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”
Hidden in the palm of her hand, she holds a chance. A small shard of metal, result of Nuska’s little surprise and a chair’s untimely demise. It was nothing against a gun, but if Rize could somehow catch her off guard…
She kept her face blank and watched the two carefully, biding her time.

Nuska's eyes flash dangerously and she pulls the trigger.Kalisse barely has time to scream before agony flashes in her leg and she crumples to the ground. Nuska had just shot her in the leg, the burnt leg.
Whatever, I didn't need that one anymore, right? she thinks bitterly, but her heart is panicking. She could hardly fathom why Nuska was shooting her. Sure, Nuska was mad at her but threatening to kill her? Had Nuska finally snapped? It was true she had always seemed a bit unstable.
Kalisse slowly registers pain in her nose as blood trickles down her face and realizes she broke her nose when falling face-first.
Swallowing back a moan of pain, she looks up at Nuska.
Nuska is brandishing her gun, glaring at Horizon.
"Take one step closer, say one more thing, and next time I won't miss Kalisse," Nuska threatens and cocks in a new bullet in her gun.
Kalisse's heartbeat races as she realizes, that, well, she's trapped at the mercy of her crazy ex-girlfriend. It would almost be funny if she wasn't about to die. She tries to make eye contact with Nuska, to beg her through her expression to let her go.
But Nuska snorts at her, "Kalisse, I've already killed your friends, I'm fine with killing you if you get in the way." She says it emotionlessly, but the way she avoids Kalisse's gaze says that she might still have some trace of humanity left within her.
Kalisse's heart officially stops. "W- what? Did you said you killed my friends?" she asks, her mind unable to keep up with anything happening anymore. "Do you mean-"
Nuska places her finger on the trigger as she aims for Kalisse's head, warning the girl to shut up.
Kalisse, though with much difficulty, does as asked.
Nuska turns to Horizon and points the gun at her. "Get on the floor or next time I won't miss Kalisse. And if you do one wrong move after that, you're next. I don't care about you, you Capitol swine, so shut up and don't try to make small talk with me."
Horizon’s breath catches. Everything seems to slow. The gunshot echoes around the room, and though it wasn’t even aimed at her, she flinches. Kalisse’s scream triggers something inside of her — something murderous.
If it were threats against her, Rize would have no problem taking a chance. She would go down fighting, rather than silent. But by threatening Kalisse? Well, Nuska is playing a dangerous game.
Effective, but dangerous.
Horizon stays silent, bristling with visible hate. Despite everything Kalisse had done, despite her previous intentions and assignment, she didn’t deserve this. Horizon couldn’t do this to her. Kalisse might’ve set out to kill her, but she had saved her, too. The former was an unforgivable act, but latter should be repaid.
One shot and Nuska loaded another bullet. Did that mean it had a one-round capacity? Or was she just making sure it was fully loaded? Horizon suspected they would soon find out. If it was just one… Maybe they’d have more of a chance. They. Was her mind now placing them on the same team?
With the gun now pointed towards her, Horizon felt a little more free to act. The threat on Kalisse still hung in the air, but it wasn’t the ‘Gamemaker’ in Nuska’s sights.
Almost flippantly, Horizon plopped on the ground, (view spoiler) avoiding the bits of glass. Folding her hands and resting her chin on them, Rize’s gaze was cool. The shard of twisted metal weighed heavy in her hands. Not necessarily weight, but…intentions.
Horizon risked a comment. “So? What now?”

Horizon risked a comment. “So? What now?”
Nuska smiles grimly at Horizon's obedience. "Good," she says, but her voice is devoid of emotion. "Now you tell me how to use your holographic controls," she instructs coldly. "And if anything seems fishy, I shoot Kalisse down."
Kalisse keeps as still as possible, not wanting to make a mistake that would get Horizon killed. Horizon may hate her, but Kalisse still cared for Horizon. Kalisse's life had been mistake after mistake and she was not going to make one that would end the life of somebody she cared for. And, selfishly she hoped it would get Horzion to realize Kalisse wasn't such a bad person after all. But it was a futile hope. Clearly it would never come true.
(You’ve always been such a foolish dreamer.)
Kalisse tries to get Horizon's eye contact, to let the girl know without speaking that she was fine if Horizon did something that would make Nuska shoot Kalisse. She needed to let Horizon know that she shouldn’t worry about Kalisse.
Kalisse was already dead, in one way or another.
But to not look suspicious, Kalisse says, "Do as Nuska says."
Horizon resists the urge to roll her eyes — the gun pointing at her is a good reason not to. So bossy. Yeesh. Testing her limits quite a bit, Rize sighs, “Would it kill you to say please once every now and then?” Bad choice of words, but Horizon doesn’t really care at this point. She adjusts her position on the floor a little, raising her head from her hands and letting them drop into her lap.
Regardless of the situation, Horizon lets her age show, if not just to be annoying. A girl of all eighteen, she speaks to Nuska as if she’s a fellow kid, rather than an enemy bearing a gun.
Rize ignores Kalisse, not even giving her a glance.
“Fine, fine. Do you need step-by-step help on the works, or just how to turn it on?” Her face and voice were perfect pictures of innocence, but her words not so much. “Oh wait, do you even know how to work those things? Probably not. Honestly, me neither. Ok, let’s see… Um…”
It isn’t too noticeable, but Horizon is just trying to waste time. If only she could somehow set off an alarm or something…
“Ya know, it’d be a lot easier to show, rather than try to talk you through it. Trust me, this technology is craaazy complicated—” She chuckles, somewhat embarrassed. “To be honest, I only know the basics of it. Still an intern, ya know.” Only a half truth, but who cares? Well, besides Nuska, of course…

"Alrighty then, fuck you," Nuska sighs, but she barely even sounds regretful about it. She aims for Horizon's leg and pulls the trigger.Kalisse's eyes widen the more Horizon sasses Nuska. Kalisse is well-aware of Nuska's short temper, for she had had to bear through the worst of them. And Horizon was really pushing it. And she was ignoring her, too, even though she was giving out precious advice.
So she's barely even surprised when Nuska shoots at Horizon.
(hehe sorry ... I won't kill off Horizon but Nuska honestly wouldn't react any other way. she'd want Horizon on the floor and obedient. so uh yeah shooting her was the go-to solution. but hey - it's only the leg! so no real damage, right?)
(i just realized how cruel i'm being i'm really sorry!!! hopefully horizon obeys a bit more and keeps herself alive)
((Just a question but wasn't the rule to ask before you inflicted harm on someone elses charachter? I'm sorry if I'm wrong and just unintentionally being upset lol.))
[[Nah, I’m just surprised it took ya this long to shoot her. XD And… uh… I doubt that’ll stop her sass, but hey. You’re all good to kill her if need be~ :) ]]

[[Technically I already told Bella I’d be fine with Horizon dead, so it’s all good. But yeah, that’s usually the rule when pitting characters against each other. This is just sort of a special occasion XD]]

(okie dokie!!)
Horizon knows it’s coming, sees it coming, but her body does nothing. It all happens too fast.
The bullet’s impact is so stunning, Rize can’t even scream. Instead, all that comes out is a strangled, choking gasp. She bites her lip to keep from crying out. To keep from showing further weakness. Breathing hard, she closes her eyes to try and keep herself under control. At least, as much as she can.
When Horizon opens her eyes again, she doesn’t look down. She can’t. One glance down and she knows she’ll lose it. The pain hasn’t even fully set in yet and she’s already trembling like there’s no tomorrow. The girl raises her eyes to meet Kalisse’s, but only linger there a second, her gaze a mix of unreadable emotions. Horizon then forces herself to look at Nuska once again. “Waste of a good bullet, if you ask me,” she says between gritted teeth, willing her hands to stop shaking. “Hope you brought quite a few more or this could take a while.”

[[Ehehe, I love how my sentences don’t even make sense. Sorry Bella, my RPing is kinda going downhill at the moment…]]
Nuska says nothing, completely ignores what the girl is saying and instead walks towards her. Keeping her gun pointed at Horizon's head, she grabs the intern's arm and drags her back to the desk where she shoves her into a chair. She places the tip of her gun at Horizon's stomach as she activates the hologram. The hologram is open at the home screen.Kalisse drags herself painfully across the floor, leaving behind her a trail of crimson. Nuska doesn't even glance at her as she sits next to Horizon with incredible difficulty. The fact that Nuska doesn't care almost shocks Kalisse. She knows it isn't supposed to be surprising, but they've shared kisses before. How could Nuska just leave her like this, struggling to sit on a chair. How could Nuska look at her so coldly, how could she make her collapse under the weight of a bullet? Was Nuska truly inhuman? Had she finally lost it? Kalisse can't bring herself to look at Nuska any linger, tears stinging her eyes. The pain in her leg is close to blinding, but it's nothing compared to the memories haunting her.
So much had disappeared in the two years Kalisse had spent in the Capitol. So much had been erased, like sand washed away. It was like what Kalisse had treasured for so long had utterly vanished. Like it was never there in the first place. Everyone had turned on her, everyone hated her, and fuck it, she deserved it. She knew she deserved it, and she just wanted to bleed out in front of Nuska and Horizon. Make them regret how they are treating her as her life slowly slips away. That's all she could wish for, right then. Not even hurt them. Just wash away all trace of her existence, with her last thought being Horizon and Nuska's forgiveness.
(But no.)
You don't earn forgiveness by simply dying. You have to earn forgiveness by doin something, by pushing yourself to limit.
And suddenly all that Kalisse is craving is more agony in her. She wants her leg to hurt as much as possible, she wants to scream out in agony as she falls apart. She wants to hurt so that maybe her mistakes will be washed away in the flow of blood. But no. No. She has to do something. Perhaps she can't save the memories between Nuska and her, but she can maybe, just maybe reach out to Horizon and bring her back. At least, if Kalisse died, she'd have Horizon live out her life missing Kalisse instead of cursing her name. Perhaps she cannot save the ghosts of kisses that she and Nuska had exchanged in the past,
(kisses drenched in sorrow, in desperation, as they danced in the moonlight, forgetting their husks-of-lives.)
but she can save what she and Persephone cherished. Perhaps Kalisse could do all this. Perhaps she could also do something true, for once. Not play somebody's game, not be somebody's favorite fraud, and instead think for herself. Act for herself.
Salvage the remains of her happiness.
(It's now or never.)
Kalisse takes a deep, hesitant, raggedy breath (ohgod my chest hurts ithurts i wanttodie), and she constructs a plan. One at lightning speed.
One of her only skills, coming back to save her. One of the only skills she's never faked.
And she notices Horizon is holding something sharp in her hands. Hiding it. And she knows what Horizon is planning, but she has something better. She can save them now, she knows it, but Horizon just has to trust her. Horizon just needs to give her a simple chance and trust her, just for an instant.
She reaches out as discreetly as possible to the sharp thing in Horizon's hand, silently begging that Horizon will understand that Kalisse has a plan and will give the weapon to her.
Please. Let me repay my dept.

(ahh thank you!! but yours isn't short at all, i'd say that your writing is measured, which is really important skill to have. ahahah dont be jealous, our writing is just polar opposites, nothing to do with quality!!)
