Another great game. There have been tweaks to the rules this year and it certainly seems to have resulted in a faster, more open and more attacking game. This could have gone either way. There was only 7 points in it with a few minutes to go. Anyway, I am walking away with the cash tonight as I tipped the Pies by exactly 21 points. So $7.00 is headed for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Go me!

Well, he doesn't seem to be a Night Owl because I messaged him last night ;o>
All together now ... "DEEEEEEEAAAAAAANNNNNNN!!!"

YAYYY!!! - Congratulations Val!!! ... x ;o>

I am punting all games, I haven't seen anything, it is 15:15 here!
Oh bum!! I have now seen the result of the first game!!

That is one of the weirdest games I've ever seen - and not in a good way! Geelong (with 5 of their best players out through injury and suspension) had most of the play throughout the game. And their kicking was more accurate. The Lions were the walking wounded. Their ruckman took the field with one calf heavily strapped and padded, then proceeded to injure his ankle on the other leg (very early on). He had some treatment but went back on limping heavily, hardly able to walk, never mind run or jump. Yet the Lions didn't activate their medical emergency player until late in the final quarter. Dane Zorko seemed to be favouring one knee but he was also giving out quite a bit in this spiteful encounter. There was a lot of heat in the game - and I've no idea where or how it started. At one stage, Gary Rohan landed a heavy blow to Lachie Neale (possibly in retaliation for a whack to Rohan's jaw). Neale took a while to get back up and had a go at Rohan, holding up three fingers - suggesting a three week suspension? However, that gesture is in itself provocative and if Rohan gets off, Neale could be penalised for staging. Later, Rohan was poleaxed by one of his own players. I swear he was out cold and was off the field for a long time. But he came back - and supposedly players who have suffered concussion should not be allowed back on. At half-time, Geelong's coach, Chris Scott, appeared to be having a go at Joe Daniher and Harris Andrews of the Lions. Will he get into trouble for that? Nothing about this game was pretty but kudos to Joel Sellwood, Zach Tuohy and Tom Hawkins for Geelong and Eric Hipwood for Brisbane. I hope I don't see another game like that for a while.

Only saw the final quarter of the Doggies/Eagles game and what a cracker it was! The ball kept going from one end to the other with the lead changing accordingly. It could have gone either way so hats off to the Dogs for keeping cool heads and getting the job done.

I was at a family gathering today and the TV was on in the background. The host (a passionate Richmond fan) was hoping to hose down the gloating of the three Bulldogs fans there (who had been at the game on Good Friday). Later in the afternoon, my son and I were cheering on Essendon against his wife and another relative who are Saints fans. I was hoping we might even surpass the Doggies' score - but no such luck! We were all home again by the evening but I know my son's in-laws would have been more than disappointed by Port's performance. It really is a weird old game. Most of us are sitting on 3 wins from 6 games, but Duke and Suzy are laughing on 4!!
