Review; I think I read this book a couple years back before I started using goodreads. I don’t remember my feelings at the time, but I definitely enjoyed it this time around. There are some dark triggers, so I would proceed with caution, but at its heart there’s also a sweet love story between two men who think themselves broken, but find out they have more strength than they could imagine.

Review:
Loved it!! 🥰
The mystery is great and kept me entertained, but in my opinion it is Kit and J.X.'s relationship that is the main focus of this story.
J.X. is a sweetheart and so patient with Kit. Now Kit is not an easy or perfect character, he's unsecure, self-pitying and stubborn but I absolutely love him for his sarcastic, quirky witt and that he's giving his best, willing to overcome himself for this relationship to work. The character and relationship development is wonderful.

Of course my personal highlight was their visit at Cloak and Dagger Books and the dinner with Adrien English and Jake Riordan! 😂😍

Fabulously narrated by Kevin R. Free!

Trio | 2789 comments Caipi - I don't know if you've delved into more books performed by Kevin R. Free but his The Merman series by X. Aratare and Jay Bell's Something Like... series are both marvelous. He even narrates Eric Carle's books for kids and they're adorable.

I love him too!

Thanks Trio! I read the first five books of the Something Like Series years ago and remember doing a "reread" of book one by listening to it and enjoying the narration. If I ever get back to this series I'll definitely listen to it! :)

I think a lot of countries have , but Boris continues to say how safe it is .
I think England are whizzing through vaccines at moment

message 116: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4048 comments I was just reading up on that this morning! That vaccine isn't widespread in the US, but here you can't go 5 minutes watching tv without seeing a medication advertisement where they name terrifying side effects so I think we're a little desensitized

Not here either. There's only at the end of every medication advertisement the addition "For risks and side effects, ask your doctor or pharmacist".

Trio | 2789 comments I actually just got home from getting my first dose! I go back on April 13th for the 2nd one.

I've got asthma which is why I qualified here in NY. I got an email from my healthcare group (which is NYU-Langone) and they said to use their app and schedule my appointment.

I was in and out in 25 minutes and that includes the 15 mins they required to rest after the shot! It was a breeze.

Hopefully they'll keep up the good work.

Trio | 2789 comments I totally forgot about posting the completion post in the Main Thread.

If I'm the last to finish my completion, I'll remember in the future to create a completion thread in our group and link it to the Main Thread.

Sorry about that! *Mental Blank*

message 121: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 2974 comments Tell me if this is a good idea or not
When we do our selction posts i check and link them to tracking on pg 1 .
When we finish we edit our selection to completion and add ratings/review ..post a quick note thay we finished but then whoever lets Kat know we finished only has to do a link to that one post on pg 1

Does that make sense and what you think..igot in a right pickle tonight with C & P and adding links, it may be cos i do it on my phone , just thought it would be easier

Task 2 - 7. Read 4 books that are stand alones.

The books selected for this task can not be listed in any series on GR! Remember to use the first edition Kindle page count.

Sorry for the extra delay - our appointments were pushed two hours later after we got there. Totally worth the wait!

Yay Amanda, I was so excited to get my vaccine!

This time I listened to the audio and Nick J. Russo's narration is as great as always. It definitely improved my enjoyment of the story. Nonetheless I still missed some depth in the story and couldn't quite grab Adam's character.

That's what I was hoping for! And it was, but it was basically just a small town full of crazy people lol. There was other plots, but they seemed partially formed.

It's actually a reread for me and the first time I rated it with 3 stars..... BUT this time I'm listening to the audio and so far I've to say that Russo's narration improves the story.
Will post my completion tomorrow morning.
