I'm not surprised that Ralston is surprised. From what we know of Callie past, she just lived a passive life on the "shelf" so for her to seek out an adventure and one this scandalous is quite surprising to everyone.

The sports club had me shaking my head. Unlocked door and all...Finished but half way through chapter 24 I started hearing "you broke me first" by Tate McRae in my head.
That was good. lots of laughs. nice ramp. not too dry a spell. LOVELY hehehehe

So glad you enjoyed it! I should be finished in a couple hours. For the next read, I was thinking Enemies of the State by Tal Bauer. It’s an MM romance, and I’ve read it numerous times and have loved it! The audiobook is fantastic! What do you guys think?
MM cool, Mystery fun, politics? ehh.... I may pass. I get confused when there are too many characters and intrigue. twists are fun but politics become frustrating. I'll re-read passages too often, try and turn the digital pages back and wish I had a white board and cork board with push pins and red string lol.
I decided to go on a Regency RomCom bender. I want more of this spinster discovers love type. Suddenly You was similar. Any recommendations?
Ooh, try the Ravenel series by kleypas. This is the first book (which is my least fave in the series tbh, so don’t give up on the series if you don’t like it!) Cold-Hearted RakeThe Duchess Deal is another favorite. The series is very similar to nine rules, humorous with strong female MCs. Fantastic in audio!
Can’t think of any others but I’ll go through my shelves and send other recs your way! We have A Kingdom of Dreams on our list of books to read too! It’s one of my all time favorites!
Finished Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake - 5 stars! It was just as fun and entertaining as it was during the first read. Loved the MCs, their banter and how they slowly discovered love. My favorite part about this book is that the author really sells the “average” girl finds a total hottie part of the story. My only complaint is that the last chapter was entirely too cheesy for an otherwise non-cheesy book. Epilogue was great too!

Secrets of a Summer Night sort of has a wallflower looking for marriage plot and I liked it. It's a series but I only enjoyed the first one
I finished the book too! It was great, very funny, good characters and engaging plot. 5 stars from my side too except that I found the chapter after Callie agrees to marry Ralston the first time too cheesy for my liking. Just the number of times he says "lovely" and "Empress" was enough for me to just skim through that whole scene. Otherwise, no complaints at all!

Yes, I'm in! Looks like its only going to be the two of us- I have another book I want to finish now so shall we start on Saturday? Or Monday? Either way is ok with me!

ugh, should have taken your advice. the sequel to Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake is about Nick and it lost all the humor. at least it turned me off to Regency and I can tackle RH BRs lol. I'm adding all your recommendations to my TBR though.catch up after Enemies of the State!

Anybody started? I finished Ch 3- I like it till now, though not much has happened. All the code names and the Secret Service lingo is very cool but!
I’m on chapter 3 as well! Not too much happening yet but I like how Jack already occupies Ethan’s thoughts. So adorable! I like the gym scene too. “Don’t push your luck Mr. President” lol The tomato throwing was so funny 😂
Is the whole story from Ethan's POV?I feel bad for Jack, I can't imagine not being allowed to be myself because of my job and I don't even like talking to people that much. Poor Jack :/
The non Ethan and Jack scenes kinda bore me. Anyone else feel that way? I’ve also read this book before (many, many times) so it could be partly because of that that I’m bored by the non-rom scenes 😬
There really haven't been that many till how far I've read. Only one with some Dubai Prince and then the prologue. I'll let you know as more of them come though!
Chapter 12: love watching these guys getting closer ❤️ Also, we finally have Jack’s POV. Now, I’ve never felt heat blooming in my chest for a friend, so that should be a big giveaway for how I feel. But, Jack here is oblivious 🙄The scene in the SUV with Ethan and Scott discussing the President and Ethan’s relationship with him was kinda sad :(
The President saying OMG via text has got to be the funniest thing 😂

But I guess I just expected that it would be more mature with them both being middle aged and in jobs that require a certain level of seriousness. But then again, everybody is different at home and work so 🤷♀️
