Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments oh.... because I am curious.

Next time one of you stoop by the spreadsheet. Could you tell me if indeed you cannot ..ahem.. destroy the sheet?

And, if you can see the formulae, are they in English or some of them are in French (thank you google. )

Nearly time to start !!!

Thank you for your trust Esther... But I'd also prefer it if you could do the updates for me. I like to update on my mobile, but it sometimes goes horribly wrong 😬

You're doing a great job, and I don't mind a delay!

I don't have speedsheet app on my tablet so I can't see the formulae. Good news for for the team!!!

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments Almost time to start reading! The sky is blue and the sun is shining. I'm going to sit where the sun will shine on me. It's a great way to lift those February blues.

message 106: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments 30 minutes to go. Both books are downloaded. I am ready.

February sunshine sounds so nice. ⛅
I'm cozying up inside listening to the wind. Outside, the light is fading fast and there is a huge dark snow cloud heading my way. I have 2 inches of snow in the garden.
I'll not be venturing outside until tomorrow! I've made a pot of hot coffee and my e-reader is charged and within reach of my comfy chair... Just need to slice up some sticky cherry cake🍰. I'm watching the clock...

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 2276 comments Does it matter when we finish by that I mean do we have to finish in the order the books are in the chain?

Annerlee | 2871 comments Marie (UK) wrote: "Does it matter when we finish by that I mean do we have to finish in the order the books are in the chain?"

No, the instructions say it doesn't matter what order we read the books in.

message 113: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4529 comments I started reading The Butterfly Garden at the noon hour. I hope I can read it quickly because I think it’s going to be creepy.

message 114: by Carol (new)

Carol (carolfromnc) | 401 comments I'm starting A Lesson Before Dying shortly. Taking a break this evening while we participate in a a Zoom Valentine's cooking class where we've got everything prepped and the chef leads everyone in cooking starting at 6.

it is one gloomy rainy 32 degree day out. perfect for avoiding everything i need to do in favor of reading!

message 115: by Annerlee (new)

Annerlee | 2871 comments I finished my first book Dark and Deadly Things and reported it in the thread.
It was pretty good. I loved the main character.. she has my sense of humour. This is obviously the first in a series, it ends on a cliffhanger, but I still enjoyed the ghostly goings on.

Am going to start On a Cold Dark Sea next.

message 116: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I'm almost half way through The Book of Lost Things. It's really good so far. I won't have any trouble finishing it today.

Marie, Would you mind adding finished books to the report thread to insure I do not miss it?

Also, Girl in Hyacinth Blue has not been added to the list yet, I took it as talk and possibility.

Thanks. I guess I am a geek. I take these YLTO events as a way to hone my spreadsheet skills.

Annerlee | 2871 comments Can I change one of my books please? I just realised that Low Men In Yellow Coats is only available in a collection called Hearts in Atlantis, unless I want to read it in Italian. I read Italian, but this book alone would take me a week!
Can I read Blue Sun, Yellow Sky instead?

message 126: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I'm almost finished my first book. I have 3 hours left, but I'm taking a bit of a break for supper.

Looks like we've got a good start.

done!!! I totally understand.

message 128: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4529 comments I'm about half way through The Butterfly Garden and should be done some time tomorrow. After that I'll read The Girls in the Garden. Those are books I will definitely be able to finish. After #2 I can read Girl in Hyacinth Blue (I own it and it's short), that way Marie can read her "girl" book. If I finish #3, I'll read The Little Red Chairs (also short and available) linking chains 1 and 2.
Does that work?

message 129: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments Actually, if you can get to Girl in Hyacinth Blue, it will link both chain. We now have a blue in chain one.

These chains will evolve a lot. Never take a word for granted. My ebook has 2 to 4 pages' chapters. I am going to bed with it and a warm cup of tea.I expect to get this one finish tonight or tomorrow if I stay awake long enough. .

I can read The Magnetic Girl but we will take stock later to see where we are. I am self isolating so I'll probably be able to read a lot more than I originally planned :(

message 137: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments I've just finished Lost in a Good Book. I didn't enjoy it near as much as the first in the series. It was scattered or maybe it was just me. 3 star read.

Now I'm on to Vernon God Little. I'm not sure why I bought this and I'm quite nervous of reading if given the subject.

message 138: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4529 comments Good morning all. I finished reading The Butterfly Garden this morning. Creepy, but I liked it.

message 149: by Annerlee (new)

Annerlee | 2871 comments I finished On a Cold Dark Sea which follows the lives of a handful of people who shared a lifeboat after the Titanic disaster. I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected - 4 stars.

The story described the sometimes random things that meant they were on the Titanic in the first place and those that led to their survival. It also shows the gaps left behind by those who died and the ripple effects of the disaster on a group of people who shared lifeboat 21.

message 150: by Annerlee (new)

Annerlee | 2871 comments I've started reading Blue Sun, Yellow Sky. Can I also add Home Before Dark to chain 2 please? I'm listening to it on audiobook.
