I'm not sure yet. I'd need to ponder it.

Morgan (faeriesfolly) | 522 comments Health Gem -- is this a thing or...? I saw mention of it and seem to remember talk of it, but I can't actually find where it might come from or evidence of it existing. lol.

Cathy M. (mccathy77) | 5976 comments And thank you to everyone else who listed all those long series! Had no idea there were that many!

message 5962: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Lane The only health gem I know of was when the quest first started- the academy quest I think. And you had to do reviews, goodreads librarian stuff etc (which is so not my thing..) and its also expired now.
I think a lot of us would like a new different health gem to obtain but I don't think anything has come of those requests yet as far as Ive seen.

Ahhhh now I remember. Thanks, Alyssa! I was like why wouldn't I have gotten that already if it's not a monster kill thing, but I couldn't find it under monsters and not under healing quests.... Makes sense now! I'm not much for a lot of those things either, so I just put that one aside and literally forgot about it. lol.

And I agree -- I would love a way to get something similar that was more book/quest related.

message 5964: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Lane Exactly - I want to do this quest to read books! Not goodreads maintenancey things. I'm still hoping Kelly will give us a new questy Health Gem (or some kind of object to bump our base-HP, it doesn't have to be another gem I suppose).

message 5965: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Always good to see how everyone looks at different things in this. I'd like to see MORE of the non-book stuff. I can't read much more than I already do (well, I can, but I tend to burn myself out when I do that) and have enjoyed using the Time Walking potion to do the Academy quest. I've only done 6 of the 10 things so far, but they were quick and easy. I'd love to do a few more things like that so I can level up more, other than just bookish ways.

Kelly definitely works hard on all this, I know she takes all your suggestions and ideas into consideration, she just already has so much she wants to do and only puts out so much at a time.

message 5966: by Karsyn (new)

Karsyn (imzadi) Hey Reva ~ Don't know if you saw the Leprechaun Winners but you came in 3rd place, so your prize is to create a new challenge. Check out the post and email the mods if you come up with a challenge idea!

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments A BIG CONGRATS to Morgan and LaLine!!

The challenge is for NBRC, not the RPG so sorry, -- no gems.

Re: the challenge: can we just choose one from the list? My mom has been in hospital and I've been busy liaising with care agencies, doctors, physiotherapists, nurses, social workers....

Needless to say I've been busy and very stressed out.

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Re the Health Gem:

I'm not a big fan of the Academy Quest but I did it anyway. It encouraged me to stretch my comfort zones (in the theatre) and I've had benefit of the Gem for almost a year.

SUCK IT UP LADIES. Use a time walking potion it won't hurt you. ;-)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments I'm a little unclear about the scrounger quest. Can those books be used in other quests because only the word has been taken, or are they like other quests and the whole book is used up when you find the word?

You may create any challenge, even for RPG. It's just for you to come up with anything you would like.

There's no list, just a few member created ones we haven't done yet.

Sorry it's a rough time for you. There is absolutely no hurries. Whenever you are able and feel up to it, let your creative juices flow and send anything (even RPG Quests) to the mods.

Sorry Shanna, one word = one book. That's why I keep track of scrounger words in books. So I can shuffle books around til I need a potion.

Once you cash in the word/book--it's gone.

I'm sorry to hear. If you want to give a brief outline of something you're interested in we can draw it up for you.

I'm even willing to do an NRPG one as long as it's reasonable and doesn't throw things out of whack too badly. :)

Shanna_redwind | 598 comments For a book set during spring-for the rabbit quest. How much of the book must be set in spring? I just read The Wall which takes place over about 2 years. It's somewhat agricultural, so each of the seasons have an importance, including spring. Is that good, or should it be a book that's almost completely set in spring.

Let's go with it should be about 50% in spring to count as set in spring.

Alex | 1018 comments *Flops onto stool in tavern, looking exhausted and somewhat black and blue*

You guys will not believe the killing spree I went on today... With the help of Lady Ysmay and a large number of potions, I just managed to kill a plethora of monsters:
☑ Great Green Dragon!
☑ Great Red Dragon!
☑ Great Blue Dragon!
☑ Last 5 rocks!
☑ The remaining populations of omnibus trolls, lexicon ness monsters and baby books
☑ 6 pain giants

I've discovered that Lady Ysmay is worth her weight in freaking gold, you guys. Killing the rocks brought me enough gold to get back what I paid for her plus several heal potions to tackle that blue dragon.

Also, going on killing sprees of monsters which yield potions/potion tokens is AWESOME when you still have the effect of weapon potions & mercenaries, as it means you can stock your inventory back up with replacement potions.

To be honest, I could probably go and kill Big Heart and the rest of the pain giants but my fingers are going to fall off from typing, but I'm certainly gonna go on another killing spree Sunday afternoon before my week of enhanced weapon and Lady Ysmay is over. Sooooo much fun.

Congratulations on the blood bath! Great Novel Dragon this week too?

Totally agree about Ysmay - she got me through the GND, Jabberwocky, Queens, most of the Hydra heads, Swarm & Thesaurus. Plus pain giants. Best 12 gold spent!

message 5996: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments Not the great novel dragon yet I think... I want to piggyback that one in with the yellow dragon and possibly the jabberwocky, so I'm going to need to stock up on a lot of bat wings. I'm after a bauble and a fighting puppy before that bloodbath too, so it might be a couple of months.

It is RIDICULOUS how excited I am about killing my first three dragons. I've just been skipping around my house.

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Great job Zee!!!

If it's 'killable', take advantage of those mercs and potions. It always pays to wait, save up your potions, then piggyback the big battles.

BAUBLES are a must-have for any long fights.

By straddling the months of March/April I was able to kill in six days:

2 Merely Kats, (using The Twins I doubled the output to 4 pelts)
1 Rare Book Monster
1 Rare Cliffhanger Monster
2 Logophilic Lemurs
2 Drop Bears
2 Greater Sewer Rats
2 Goblins
2 Bats.

And managed to go out for coffee too. ;-)
