I'm on day 6 with Covid. Thank you guys for being so funny and making me stop thinking about being sick. Thankfully I'm feeling much better today.

I'm starting to worry about my giftee. They accepted the first few books, but haven't claimed the last. I've resent the email and also then posted an anonymous question to them. I"m hoping they are okay!

PM me if you don't hear from them!
PM me if you don't hear from them!
This year was the first time I had a giftee that was not very active on here. It shows they have accepted their gifts but have made no mention of receiving them on here. I can only hope they are to their liking. I wanted to send more but, because I am uncertain of my choices I refrained.
Bookreader87(Amanda) wrote: "because I am uncertain of my choices I refrained"There happens a lot more in this group than the happiness on the surface. I'm sorry you feel this way. Send a giftcard?
I can see my gift is downloaded but have not seen a mention on 'Show us'. But I get an answer if I send a message.

I have actually tried anonymously messaging them but struck out there. I am sure they received their first gifts. I am just one who likes to gift a lot. Giftcard is a good idea but it doesn't feel quite the same lol

I've had matches like that many times. It's not nearly as fun, but I'd say 1/2 of the group never posts at all, but I get messages if they haven't gotten a gift! I think most people aren't GR addicts like us ;)

I not only found a timeconsuming hobby in GR, but a lot of nice people to talk with, and the assurance a book a day is normal.

Carlos got me a kindle so I would stop ordering paperbacks. I thought that was a sweet deal.
Debra wrote: "Mine isn't active here either, but they did leave a thank you on Elfster for the books they claimed. Have you looked there"Yes, I checked there. I don't mind not being thanked. I just wanted to be sure the book choices I made were ok with them before I bought more.

Well I still bring home paperbacks all the time... just not MM. I work at a bookstore after all. We have what we call Pockets in Sweden though which are pocket sized paperbacks. So they don't take that much space... ish.

It's not normal? Oh well, I've always thought normal was boring anyway. 🤷♀️

This is my house. I actually have new book cases on my wishlist because I have stacks on the floor again. I buy a lot of Kindle books but all my very favorites still go my my bookshelves. 😊

Or my book club. I grew up in a family where everyone read a book a day. One extended visit to my family exposed my husband to this reality 😂 early on. A lot of the members of my book club only read the monthly choice, if that, so I guess bookish means different things to different people. I'll just keep reading. 🤷♀️
And participating in this group is so much fun. They really are missing out on a great community of book lovers.

This is how I ended up reading ebooks, too. The KU/scribd subscriptions at least make it *seem* like I'm buying less books, and my husband would choose spending more over actually *having* more physical books in the house any day. I don't know why since he's a total packrat and we literally have floor to ceiling built-ins that came with the house, but it's his pet peeve. His very unfortunate considering who he married pet peeve!! He's not a reader AT ALL, bless him

Haha!! I have so many PB/HB and i went through and got rid of a lot before i moved bc they were authors/books i didn't care for. I dream of having a home library like the one in beauty and the beast, lol.

And I’m old, LOL, so I have a lot of books. *sigh* Whoever has my winning lottery ticket needs to GIVE IT UP!! 😂

Yes! That was my favorite part of Beauty and the Beast! You need to look up pictures of the Biltmore Estates library in Asheville, North Carolina. It will make you drool. I grew up playing on the estate because friends ran the barns and stables there. I went in the house a lot and just stared. No one was allowed to touch the books though. Mr. Vanderbilt (yes the tycoon) spoke and read in over 6 languages so his library had floor to ceiling books with levels full of antique books. I have a huge living room with a high ceiling and dream of having a wall of built-ins. I'm determined to have a library room with a wood fireplace and rolling ladders in the next house when we build 😍

One of my mother's favorite things to refer to is a former boyfriend of mine who infamously filled in a questionnaire under the books interest as "I don't read much". She'll occasionally ask me if I know how the "I don't read much" guy is doing. I do not know as we are not in touch. I think she mostly enjoys having a relatively harmless chuckle at his expense.
There is a bookstore where I live, with double bookcases. So, they did put a bookcase against a wall, added a door to it, and then nailed a second bookcase against the door. I suppose ther is a tiny spinning wheel under the swinging bookcase. If you look good, you can see a doorgrip on the front bookcase, open it and find a second bookcase.
All of this sounds magical...and Beauty & the Beast has always been a favorite of mine for many reasons but the library is one of them! An old coworker of mine had a teeny tiny library with a teeny tiny ladder in her home...I thought it was the best part of her fabulous house. I have huge built in bookcases that are packed (some creative stacking allows so much more book space!) but my daughter is now taking over several shelves. I have my special stack of signed paperbacks in my bedroom...because I like to look at them. Ha!

I'm all about that creative stacking, LOL. But the only problem is I have to shift everything around to see what's on the back rows. Maybe one day. I guess I could probably give up the bdroom altogether for the library. That's where I'd be spending all my time anyway.
I once visited a friend who said to come around to the kitchen door and knock there. Turns out he had the hallway converted to a closet, with bookshelves across the front door and 2 walls.O, wait, maybe I first have to explain European houses. The front door opens to a small room with a closet for coats, and doors to the livingroom and toilet, and a staircase.
The only room I have designed in my dream home is my library. I have epic dreams for that one. Two story room, with curved staircase and floor to ceiling bookcases, rolling ladders, the whole bit. Super comfy couch and chair combos, and a HUGE bay window from which to sit and watch the rain/snow/weather while reading. Also the room definitely needs to have a fireplace as well. Man that would be so awesome right now. I'm recovering from my second oral surgery and cuddled up back home in Washington (my families in the mountains there) with a fire and a bay window to read and watch the snow fall would be amazing for recovering. Being by myself in my little apartment in LA the pain just keeps distracting me and I can't focus for long on anything. Always is a struggle for my family as pain meds never seem to work that well for any of us. Spent all day yesterday after the surgery waking up every 20-30min because I just couldn't sleep through the pain.

I will look it up, thanks! Not sure i would be able to resist touching all those books, or climbing the ladder, or gliding along a ladder like Belle did in B&theB.
And yes! Beauty and the beast is awesome!!

@Fran Oh no!? You too?! Covid hasn't been kind to mouths.
@melissa *giggle* I would totally glide on my ladder too!

I know right! And I will have that room someday. :D
Yeah I had a really bad infection develop this summer under a tooth that I've had problems with my whole life. It never had any enamel so I almost had to have a root canal done when I was a teenager. But they managed to fill the massive hole instead. But sometime between then and now the root and nerve to the tooth must have died because the infection built for months without me knowing as I didn't feel anything until it spread into the roof of my mouth. Ended up having emergency surgery to pull it this summer and have a bone graft done. Yesterday they put the post for the implant in, but it'll still be a few months of healing before I get the actual implant.
I'm sure I'll be fine in a couple days it's always just hard at first because I never seem to get a great deal of help from pain meds. I'm doing a little better this evening though which is nice. :)
Fran wrote: "I had a tooth pulled and another one needed an implant. Numbers are low here in NY right now for Covid so I ran in and got it done!I'm so glad you got in!
Not working for nearly 3 months this spring created such a backlog of tooth troubles that have become emergencies for so many.
I'm sure you are...but follow your post op carefully.
No smoking, spitting or sucking (ahem, I'm talking about straws!) for 3 days to avoid a dry socket (absolutely no fun).
And stick with your soft foods (mashed potatoes consistency for the 72-hour window after) and keep up on your meds.
Staying ahead of the pain is so much easier than trying to bring it back down.
Implants are such wonders!
I'm thrilled you're getting one. The wait is irritating but worth it in the end. Don't rush it though, wanna make sure the implant integrates into the bone before you get your fancy new crown!

Wow, sounds like you've been through the wringer with this problem child tooth. Teeth can be so persnickety and when they want your attention, they can demand it.
Glad to hear you had things taken care of. Nasty infections like that can be hard to treat. Sounds like you're getting good care though.
And hopefully, these last few days of recovery slip by with ease.
You'll be so happy to have the implant when the time comes.
And...once it'd done, it's done! You should never have to worry about it giving you problems again. It's a...good investment! Your smile is important! :)
Melissa wrote: "Haha! I would totally give up a bedroom! 😄 i really want a house that actually has a library/office. 🙏🙏"That and a big wrap-around porch are my only two requirments. If I wasn't reading in the library, I'd be reading on the swing on the front porch. 😍

That would work, right? No need for a bedroom at all, problem solved! 😁
@Shelby, sounds like you've had a rough time. I'm definitely no stranger to dental problems and @Fran, oral surgery is no fun either. I hope you both recover soon and don't have any more problems. I agree with Sheri, the wait for the implant will be worth it! Feel better ladies! *hugs*
