The edition you read.

If you listen to the audiobook, you can use the default edition for page count.

Judy | 4065 comments COUNTDOWN TO START

Just over 24 hours to go!

Is everyone ready or do you (like me) still have books left to finish?

message 154: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol I'm currently in the middle of three books that won't count towards the challenge. I'm not worrying too much about finishing them because I don't want to start anything else before it starts.

Same here! I've still got a play and a poetry collection to finish.

Melindam | 8291 comments I just finished a book and will wait until after the deadline is up to start on a new book.

I am still listening to The Mirror & the Light to bide my time, but it is a slow boat to China. :)

I will also add your book recommendations to the beginning of the thread. I have not had time to do so in the last 2 days.

message 160: by Maddy (new)

Maddy | 2127 comments I think I will just read what I have and log them in SS as I go and leave it up to someone else to figure out the logistics :D

Judy | 4065 comments Let's gooooooo - the Orient Express is taking off! 🚂

I'm going to start The Bromance Book Club first! (And probably fall asleep after like two pages... it's been a long day.)

Colleen | 238 comments I still don't get how to find the obscure tags - so if someone can help me out on that I'd appreciate it!

5 hours to go for me here, can't wait to start reading again!

message 167: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 4247 comments Colleen, I am not on your team but I saw your comment go by and felt bad. Don't use the countdown anymore. It is counting up now so everyone can be reading for 5 hours now. ( I apologize if I misunderstood you and butted in).

message 168: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Colleen wrote: "5 hours to go for me here, can't wait to start reading again!"

Colleen, you can already start reading! We all started at the same time & the "countdown timer" is counting up now since the start date has passed, like Lexi said :)

message 169: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Colleen wrote: "I still don't get how to find the obscure tags - so if someone can help me out on that I'd appreciate it!"

If you think a book might have a specific tag, you can try this:

I've tried it a bunch of times and sometimes it worked, but I also got a lot of Goodreads time outs...

The easiest way for me is still to go to the tag and scroll through the pages (I linked them all here)

Melindam | 8291 comments Dear All,

once you have finished a book, please use the following formula to link the right edition of your book on the Planning Sheet.

=HYPERLINK("GR link to the edition you read";"Type here the title")

Example:

=HYPERLINK("https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... and Fate")

Ora (oeamis) My room in which my computer is in is empty right now. I am getting new carpet put in Monday, so Monday night to Tuesday afternoon I will have my computer back and will be able to do the hyperlinks and update the SS easier. I may wind up waiting to get things updated until then if I have too many problems doing it on my iPad. I only know how to do things on it after I have been shown. I really am not tech savvy.

message 173: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Ora, if you have the right edition on your wheelaton-shelf, you can post the completed books and we can add it to the planning sheet. :)

Duh! OMG - I'll be reading today, obviously.

Also, I'll try figuring out the tags again to fit books I'm already scheduled to read.

Go Team! Two of you are already super fast.

Melindam | 8291 comments My son is with my parents for the w/e, so I'm trying to use this precious opportunity & am reading like mad. :D
On weekdays I can make slower progress.

message 177: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments @Colleen - don’t worry too much about finding books for the tags. We’ve already got a lot in the spreadsheet & we can only use 10 anyway :)

Sunshine (sunshine22222) | 804 comments Hi, so if we do not need to look for tags, is there something else that we need to look out for?

message 181: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Sunshine wrote: "Hi, so if we do not need to look for tags, is there something else that we need to look out for?"

The main thing is that you fit your books to tasks so we get maximum bonus points from that. The full task list is in one of the pinned comments as well as the "Tasks" tab on the planning spreadsheet, which you can also use to plan out and track the books you use for tasks.

Sunshine (sunshine22222) | 804 comments Why do we need to put a completion post on the thread, if it is listed on the spreadsheet? I don't have time to do double work.

Can we do one posting?

message 193: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Hi Sunshine & All :)

when you finished a book, please post its title to the thread, so that Judy and I are alerted that some action is needed from our side.

It's enough, if the rest of the info is contained on the planning sheet.

Please do a full post, if for some reason you cannot access the sheet.

Thank you.

message 195: by Annalisa (new)

Annalisa | 1573 comments I've got Jetsetters on hold and Five Feet Apart came in earlier than I expected. I now have three audiobooks and the commute I would listen to them on has turned into me being driven to work, since I was rear ended on my way home and my car is totaled. (There as been a lot of drama with cars here. After I was hit, someone stole the catalytic converter from my car and my partners car. He got a rental car and until his car is repaired I'm being driven to work.) This is why I've not been around on the thread.
