“I grew up in libraries, and I hope I've learned never to take them for granted. A thriving library is the heart of its community, providing access to information and educational opportunities, bringing people together, leveling the playing field, and archiving our history.”

“Pies are so much fun to make—and so simple! All it takes to make a tender, flaky crust is the right amount of vegetable shortening, cut into flour with a sprinkle of cold water, and just a pinch of salt. Cherries have the right sweet-to-tart taste—and are also a good source of poison! Just crush the pits or stems. There you’ll find prussic acid, also known as hydrogen cyanide: easy to sprinkle into both the filling and the crust. How sweet it is!”

U doll U...."
I definitely agree that sometimes we are a Katie. I consider any author that can make me relate, love, hate, then love again to a character is talented enough for me to read all their books. I appreciate all your thoughtful words and how you explain Katie. She is so human truly, even if she is a character, and that is what made me read 70% of the book in one sitting.
:) Thanks again.

U doll U. Seriously, that means a lot to me. I could tell Katie really touch you (maddeningly so, LOL!) and that is how I wanted it! I didn't want her to be "predictable" in any way. She's a sharp lady -- and like all of us, sometimes does dumb things...
But waking up to our mistakes is life's journey, right?
When I turned in the book, I remember my agent saying "I hope you didn't give her the 'usual predictable' ending.' Well, I didn't...and I know that may have disappointed some readers...
But I wanted it to be real.
We all know a Katie.
Sometimes we ARE Katie.
And that's okay... as long as, eventually, we take our worst experiences and learn from them.
Marie, you can tell I appreciate your insights onto her character.... and your new friendship.
Great readers think alike,
:)
