First book down, and I loved it. I didn't expect to be disappointed with Covet though, so it was no surprise. A wonderful start to a new series that may just alleviate some of my disappointment at only getting one BDB book a year. ;)1. Red Valiant by Holly Black

Read:
, Immortal After Dark series #4. A good read: 3,5 stars. Eventhough this book was highly entertaining (adventures in the rain forrest), funny (loved the bantering between Bowen and Mariketa) and sexy (I know for sure now: I love overbrearing werewolves) it wasn't as good as the former two.

I'm changing my orange book - it has a lot more orange on it in "real life". It's a historical crime novel with a touch of the paranormal.
Ok, the cover caught me while I was in Waterstones today - love anything egyptian.
I'm not buying anymore this month though - honestly.
Dammit - just realised it's the second in a series - so I've got the buy the first one, right? Plus, it's got a lot more orange on it.

2. Red Fanged and Fabulous by Michelle Rowen
3. . Brown Viking Heat by Sandra Hill
4. . Green Leader of the Pack by Karen MacInerney
5.. Black My Wicked Vampire by Nina Bangs
6. . Yellow The Renegade Hunter by Lynsay Sands
7. . Purple Stakes and Stilettos by Michelle Rowen
8. . Pink Dragons prefer Blondes by Candace Havens
9. . Blue Witch in the House by Jenna McKnight
While I have loved all of this Viking series (Sandra has 2, didn't like the other one much) this is the one that I liked the least. Its not that the hero wasn't someone that I liked--or even the heroine. I'm not exactly sure WHAT the problem was with this one, but I just didn't like it as much. 3.5 stars out of a possible 5

54 pages into Stray I gave up and switched green to The Undead Next Door. Chrestomanci Chronicles got switched to Working With The Devil simply because it's way past time for a reread, and it's orange, so I figured what the hell.
Dark Lover was awesome! So awesome that I'm taking a break from the challenge to read Lover Eternal. I just loved Rhage that much. No offense to Wrath, of course.
Haven't decided what I'm going to read next for the challenge, but it'll probably be between The Undead Next Door and Halfway to the Grave.

Girls. Just a sugestion, but how about we all grade the books we've read (by putting stars behind them) or maybe even write short reviews?I find this challenge is a nice way to pick up new books and it's so great to see how people think about certain books.
Just a suggestion.

Yellow - The Becoming - Jeanne C Stein

I loved maked by P.c Cast that I think I'm going to start reading the 2nd one. LOL I think I might take Blue moon - Alyson Noel out and swap it for Betrayed even though the cover is predominately Black the word Betrayed is written in blue.

I can't wait to read Lover Unbound. I ordered it a week ago and I'm still waiting...
I feel like I'm so far behind with this challenge already. I've started a new job, which I love. It's just cutting into my reading time with having a different schedule now :(

OH NO! Please at some point try Night Pleasures which is when the dark-hunter stories proper start. I didn't care for Fantasy Lover much either, but I do really like this series.

Technically yes. All the dark-hunter stuff actually starts in Night Pleasures like I said. Actually on Sherrilyn Kenyon's website she lists Night Pleasures as book one and Fantasy Love as related reading. But you actually get a little sneak peak at a bunch characters that start showing up immediately and throughout the whole series. Plus, one of the main characters from Fantasy Lover comes back in at least half the books.
For me it was worth it because I like knowing everything and I can always tell when a character is mentioned that has a back story that is available that I haven't read. Even all the short stories that come between offer character information. I skipped most of those when I read the series and as I'm going back to read them, I'm realizing that some of the time when I felt like I was missing something it was because it happened in a short story.
Mel, I didn't read Fantasy Lover until I'd read almost all the other books in the series and it didn't make any difference. I'm glad it happened that way too because it was one of my least favorite and I might not have continued reading. I think Night Play, Dance with the Devil and Seize the Night are the best!

Another change from
to
Now I know there isn't pink on that cover but the one I have is completely pink. lol
Thanks Tara, Michelle and Looloo. Tara I'll definitely will be trying Night Pleasures as I'm hoping Fantasy Lover's faults are due to 'first book hiccups'. Even if it may not be the series official first book.
I hope her writing gets better though. Till now she explains just too many obvious things. She just goes on and on, while I'm think: 'ok ok I get it!'. It annoys me.
I just have to quote this to get my point accross:
{Grace says something to Julian}
"He snapped his head to the left as if she'd slapped him.
"Did that offend you?" she asked, concerned that she had inadvertently hurt him somehow. Heaven knew, that was the last thing he needed.
"No."
But inside, she knew better. Something about her innocent comment had wounded him. Deeply".
And this was like the 156th internal dialogue like that. She could have stopped at 'as if she'd slapped him'. We already got he was offended by then. Stop explaining the obvious. We're not morons!
So girls, does it get better?
okay here is my list1. Orange -Harmony's Way

Well I'm totally biased because I love this series. The writing didn't bother me in Fantasy Lover, just the story. At least not that I can remember.
With every romance novel I read (PNR or regular) I seem to always find myself frustrated at stuff like that. For instance, the story where the author keeps describing how the woman looks tired and thinks she has the flu because she keeps getting sick and then the big reveal comes 100 pages later that she's pregnant, and you figured it out 99 pages ago. Or the man has a big secret that he just can't tell the woman because he's afraid it will scare her away so he keeps hiding it and the woman keeps commenting on how he seems almost perfect but seems to be holding something back.
I guess my point is that in the end of a series, if I have enjoyed the stories, then I can't remember if the writing bothered me.

Well, I'm at 4/9 done. I am getting a lot of reading in because I'm working the evening shift at the hospital this week ;) Lots of free quiet time during the day to read. YAY! I seem to be giving out a lot of 5 stars this challenge, too. I guess I'm just really enjoying the Sookie series. 1.

Another of Bangs Castle of Dark Dreams books. Sparkle has 3 new "brothers" to find mates for. This time its the brother of one of the earlier Nightfeeders (i.e. "turned" as opposed to "born" vamps) that she found a wife for. And we finally find out where Jessica and Sweetie Pie came from. :o) 4.5 out of 5.
