I talked to my sister last night and she told me about my nephew's latest adventure. Tyler's 22, living in New York and working for Citigroup. One night he and his boss were waiting for a client so they decided to go nearby to have a few drinks. The place they tried to get into was having a private event and said they couldn't enter. Then the guy asked if they were meeting someone, so they said yes and were admitted. It turns out the place was Cipriani 42nd Street and the event was the National Board of Review Awards. Tyler actually met and chatted with Clint Eastwood! He also met Ed Norton, Chris Rock, and others that my sister couldn't remember. Terri and I were amazed that Tyler was comfortable - we'd probably have been stammering and staring. He also met and talked with some screenwriters and others involved in production, and they ended up closing the place down. Tyler got home at 5:30 am! I have no idea what happened to the client :)

We went fishing today!! It was gorgeous out. High of 52* F. We didn't catch any fish though, not even a bite, *sigh* it was still nice to be outside for a few hours though! Half the pond/lake was frozen over so after fishing, we skipped rocks on the ice to see how far we could get the rock to go. Yeah, we are easily entertained :-)

Thanks guys! I'm amazed out how many responses I had to my classified ads and lots of stuff being picked up today which is great! It is good to get rid of things but I'd like it even more if those house fairies could come and help me too J'mom!

We definitely did, Cherie! The place we went also has some walking trails. There were several people walking their dogs. Dogs have to be leashed which is good:) I think we will take Blake out there with us next time!

My oldest daughter was hit by a car today at dismissal time from school. She is fine. All covered with bruises (the worst in her face and one knee), and the thigh that "stopped" the car is very swollen and sore, but nothing really serious happened to her. We stayed in the hospital for more than 4 hours, but we came back knowing everything is ok. She just needs to rest for a few days and have a lot of cuddle, hugs and kisses. She is my 16 years old baby.
I can't explain the way my blood froze in my veins when I picked up the phone and heard her voice saying "mom, a car hit me"... I just feel so happy she is in her bed now, comfy and warm.

I am so glad your daughter was not more seriously hurt, Sandra! Yes, the feeling is like nothing I know when you hear your child is hurt.

It happened to me once! I was woken up in the middle of the night by a policeman to tell me that my daughter was in a car accident. She was about the same age. She was out joy riding with friends and they slid into a ditch on a gravel road. She had a bad cut on her forehead. I was a wreck until I got to the hospital. Once I saw her, and was able to hug her, I was so mad at her though. She had snuck out of the house to go driving with them.

I dread phone calls like that. Has to be worse feeling in world. Glad it wasn't any worse than it was though

I don't have children so thankfully I don't have to deal with those kinds of phone calls. I still panic like crazy though if I get a phone call after 10pm as that always means something has happened.

Sandra, so glad she is ok! How scary until you realize they are going to be fine but you still feel so bad, don't you? I hate that. You always wants them to be safe and when something happens it just breaks your heart. She probably loves all the cuddles and attention though. :)

I think I heard a pack of coyotes last night. I've heard them before, a couple of summers ago, but they sounded far away. Last night I swear it sounded like they were in my yard. At first I couldn't tell what it was, I couldn't wrap my head around the sound, it was so loud and chaotic sounding. My dogs got wierded out and so I knew something was up. I'm still trying to find out if anyone else around here heard anything. My son heard strange noises the night before out his window but he thought it sounded more like people arguing. I know coyotes yip and make all sorts of weird noises while howling. It's really unnerving when you have kids who play outside and dogs who run around the yard. Coyotes were reintroduced to our area a few years back but it seems they are growing in number. Not that I care as I think they are beautiful but with young ones and dogs, it's a bit freaky.

We have tons of coyotes. They follow the tractor bsling hay at times eating fieldmice. Never have much trouble. A cat comes missing or occasionally a cow freshens outside and they get the calf but its pretty rare. More dogs get killed by fishers than coyotes

I live in central Phoenix, and coyotes are disturbingly common here. We have lost a couple of cats to them over the years, and several of our neighbors have also had cats killed by coyotes. Now when a coyote is spotted on our street we get all the cats inside.

Thank you everybody for your kind comments. My daughter is doing fine. She slept pretty well, and now is having a shower. She was really lucky yesterday. All my kids are at home today due to an early dismissal at school because of the snow, so we are a lot of people here to be with her.

@Travis - It's true, having children change everything. I try no to be a "worrier", but some times is difficult. :)

@Tasha - Coyotes is not something I would like to have in my backyard!

Coyotes were an issue in our old location. It was in central Austin next to undisturbed acreage. Cats constantly disappearing. Two dogs of immediate neighbors attacked in their back yards - one died, one survived. Don't miss that though being central was nice.

Sandra, glad to hear she is doing well. I think we're programmed to worry...I know I do, all the time. I've had to work hard to let go of some of my worries.

About the coyotes, I played an audio (online) for my son of coyotes howling and he said that sounds like what he heard the other night. We have a farm and woods behind my house so I'm sure they usually hang out around that area but these last two nights it sounded like they were in the yard! I'm taking the dogs out earlier tonight but I'll step outside (close to the door!) to see if I can hear them again later tonight.

The guy who owns the farm behind us did tell us a couple years back that he lost a lot of his cats (all feral barn cats) due to the coyotes. We don't see many barn cats any more and luckily we don't have cats or I would be worried. I do worry about my 2 dogs though, the one is a hefty 50 but the other larger one is old and slow. It's my daughter I worry about the most though. I used to send her out alone while I stayed inside keeping an eye out on her...not anymore. I guess I'll be going out with her now!
