Hi guys! Sorry i've been MIA i've been busy. I'm going to close it now and how would you like me to go about distributing who has who?

message 553: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 06, 2021 12:29PM) (new)

That's fine!

So I was thinking you could send a PM/private message to everyone.

Basically each person would have the same message, but with blanks filled in.

So something like this maybe?

Hello! Thank you for signing up for our February Book Swap! Please read the message and send us your 3 book recommendation for your assigned person by (whatever date you want them by- maybe 2 days before Valentine's Day? ).

Your person is : (fill in person name+account link)

Here are a few things about them to get a better idea of what type of books they might enjoy:
Favorite genres: (fill in based on form answers)
Favorite books: (fill in based on form answers)
Favorite authors: (fill in based on form answers)

Remember, don't tell anyone who you are a Secret Admirer for! That would ruin the surprise!

Please send a return to this message with your 3 recommendations. Either link the specific book, or include both the title and author. Each book should be YA, unless requested otherwise in the genres category above. Also, if you suggest a series, make sure you are suggesting the first book!

Thanks for choosing to participate in the Book Swap!
If you have any questions, feel free to post them on the book swap page or message us!

-The Bookish Worms

Something like that? Then you could bold what you think is most important or whatever :)

message 557: by [deleted user] (new)

If you have any questions in regard to the book swap please message me or one of the other mods

LOL I thought we were putting the book recommendations in the february book swap! wow that's how you know i cant multitask with schoolwork lol

message 564: by [deleted user] (new)

Hahahaha we can do it that way if you want!
I was originally thinking they would message you back the recs then we would post what each person wasn't receiving in the thread and they would guess who's recommended them, but I kinda like the way you are doing it it!

message 565: by Gina (new)

Gina (justginareads) | 77 comments Mod
Whatever way is easier, so many people already started sending me recommendations. So, I guess i'll do it your way lol! i'm going to send out the last few book swap people I have left and then when I get back home in a few i'll put the book recommendations out along with who gave the book rec?

message 566: by [deleted user] (new)

That sounds great! Maybe put the "who gave the book rec" in a spoiler, so that if people want to try and guess they can?

I was thinking we would post a list with everyone's names who signed up, then list the three books they received below their name.

I'll be sending you my recs this afternoon, I'm still trying to decide on the final one lol

message 567: by Gina (new)

Gina (justginareads) | 77 comments Mod
Sounds good! So how does this sound for the post:

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for participating in our first ever February book Swap! Below is a list of everyone's names alongside of the books they recommended for their book swap buddy.

(Name)
(Book cover)(book cover)(bookcover)

Don't forget you have to read at least read one of the recommended books!

Who do you think gave the book recommendation?! Comment Below! 📕

message 574: by [deleted user] (new)

Do you guys think we should have an open theme or do theme suggestions for March BOTM?

March is also our double BOTM because we have series catch-up as well.

message 575: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Maybe we could just do a genre (sci-fi, contemplatory, fantasy, historical) and then have people vote on that?

message 576: by [deleted user] (new)

That sounds good! So like make a list some of some general genres and put out a poll of them?

message 577: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Yeah, that's what I was thinking :)

message 578: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok cool!
So then let's see...these are some genres I can think of (all YA or course) - anymore we should add?

-Mystery
-Historical Fiction
-Fantasy
-Contemporary
-Romance
-Science Fiction

Haha that's all I could think of XD

message 579: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth That looks good! I can't think of any more either haha

message 580: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok cool! I'll add a thriller/horror just in case!

message 581: by sahrai (new)

sahrai (sarahmirzayee) Hey guys! Sorry I kinda went MIA again but my friend just gave me this cool idea where we could maybe potentially do a Spring Cleaning Challenge (read-a-Thon?) in April? What do you guys think??

message 582: by sahrai (new)

sahrai (sarahmirzayee) I was thinking it could be more like the TBR challenge but we could do it as a team readathon so we have more group interactions, honestly it could work both ways

message 583: by Gina (new)

Gina (justginareads) | 77 comments Mod
Hi all! Sorry i've been MIA i've been on a roadtrip to florida and were finally here. ANYWAYS lol, i'm missing a few people: tessa, harrison, zeal, ani herondale, alexandra digregio, sarah mirayzee and amanda. So I can just start with who I have and write please submit it to me ASAP so we can start reading?

message 584: by [deleted user] (new)

I love that idea! Team things seem to go better in terms of participation, so that would be great!

message 585: by [deleted user] (new)

Gina wrote: "Hi all! Sorry i've been MIA i've been on a roadtrip to florida and were finally here. ANYWAYS lol, i'm missing a few people: tessa, harrison, zeal, ani herondale, alexandra digregio, sarah mirayzee..."

Haha that's fine!
Yep that sounds good! Go ahead and post the list of what you have received so that those people can see what recs they received, and maybe send another message to the missing people?

message 586: by [deleted user] (last edited Feb 19, 2021 04:17AM) (new)

Gina-
The list look great! I was thinking we would post the list of what recs everyone recieved, not what's they gave. So like you would put the books they got next to their name, and the books they recccomened next to the person's name they recommended them for. Does that make sense? With how it is now, nobody's will know what recommendations they were given and what the young need to read :P
It looks really good though!

message 587: by Gina (new)

Gina (justginareads) | 77 comments Mod
Because on how I did it was I put the persons name, and the recommendations they gave for the person they got. And then everyone is going to guess who they have. Or does that not make sense?

message 588: by [deleted user] (new)

I think it would be easier to put the recs they received and have the courts guess who's gave them. Right now there isn't much of a way to try and guess what you got and people need to see what recs they received so they know what they need to read.

message 589: by Gina (new)

Gina (justginareads) | 77 comments Mod
I think i'm going to have the recs just say who they have because 1. I forgot who had who since I deleted everything on the spreadsheet. and 2. I feel like it's getting more complicated lol

message 590: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok then I guess that works.... we also have one person who is asking on the thread why their recs aren't listed on there.

You could give back in to your sent messages and check who had who, just see who you sent it to and what it said. Next time try and keep all pieces of the event/challenge (like a spreadsheet) until the event is completely over.

message 591: by Gina (new)

Gina (justginareads) | 77 comments Mod
So what do you want me to do? Just say who has who?

message 592: by [deleted user] (new)

Up to you I guess- either post who has who, OR go back into your messages and post a new list with everyone's names and the recs they received rather than what they gave. Whichever you would rather! The second option would give people a chance to kinda guess who gave their recs if you want that....

message 593: by [deleted user] (new)

ALSO to all my other mod-
What do you guys want to do for March? I think team challenges definitely get more active than individual.

I could run a buddy reading type challenge, maybe where we pair the participants up and they have to buddy read as many books as possible? OR I could do a Bingo team challenge, which would probably work out better XD Unless someone else has an idea or wants to run the March challenge?

What do you all think?

message 594: by Gina (new)

Gina (justginareads) | 77 comments Mod
I love the bingo idea.

Also sorry about the whole mess up with the february book swap 😅

message 595: by [deleted user] (new)

Hahaha that's totally fine! Especially since it's our first time doing a challenge like this!

Ok cool let's go with the bingo then...I was thinking it would be in teams of maybe 5 people? Does that sound good? I could create a bingo board with prompts (I would love you all's help coming up with them, we should have a theme for the bingo) and each team's challenge would be to complete at least one bingo. The winner would be whatever team completes the most prompts/squares. It would probably be a big bingo board to make it more challenging.

message 596: by sahrai (new)

sahrai (sarahmirzayee) Yes! Love the bingo idea we’ve been wanting to do that for a while now! Also what ideas did you have in mind for the theme?

message 597: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmm I have literally no clue... something that would allow any type/genre of book (so not like a complete fantasy theme) but with some cool prompts relating somehow to it.

We could do.... spring theme? movies/tv shows? color covers?

message 598: by sahrai (new)

sahrai (sarahmirzayee) Oooh I like the colour covers idea! We could also make the colours into like a spring theme as well and use spring-type colours

message 599: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh I like that idea! I'll start working on creating a bingo board

message 600: by sahrai (new)

sahrai (sarahmirzayee) Okay cool!
