Well, we don't get those massive, destructive tornadoes like they get in the Midwest. I've heard of a few tornadoes touching down up here in the last few years but as far as I know they just took down a lot of trees and maybe ripped off a barn roof. There are more woods than houses here anyway.
So yes, if you can handle snow (and bears), by all means come to Maine! 🤣

Wow! 🤒

Do you have a fever?"
Yeah, from the coldness in those pictures!! 🤣🤣

Cold Maine woods
A Short Story
by Meg Dunham
Margaret looked at the heavy mountain in her hands and felt joyful.
She walked over to the window and reflected on her bleak surroundings. She had always loved cold Maine woods with its black, burnt bog. It was a place that encouraged her tendency to feel joyful.
Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Henry . Henry was a fearless doctor with graceful eyes and strong hair.
Margaret gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was an admirable, brave, root beer drinker with tall eyes and slender hair. Her friends saw her as an abundant, adventurous angel. Once, she had even made a cup of tea for a poor violet.
But not even an admirable person who had once made a cup of tea for a poor violet, was prepared for what Henry had in store today.
The snow flurried like walking moose, making Margaret happy.
As Margaret stepped outside and Henry came closer, she could see the crazy glint in his eye.
Henry gazed with the affection of 5983 noble low lynx. He said, in hushed tones, "I love you and I want nothing."
Margaret looked back, even more happy and still fingering the heavy mountain. "Henry, man only likes to count his trouble, he never calculates his happiness," she replied.
They looked at each other with gleeful feelings, like two bad, burnt bears skiiing at a very timid snow storm, which had fiddle music playing in the background and two gentle uncles climbing to the beat.
Margaret studied Henry's graceful eyes and strong hair. Eventually, she took a deep breath. "I'm sorry," began Margaret in apologetic tones, "but I don't feel the same way, and I never will. I just don't love you Henry."
Henry looked willing, his emotions raw like a raspy, round river.
Margaret could actually hear Henry's emotions shatter into 5720 pieces. Then the fearless doctor hurried away into the distance.
Not even a drink of root beer would calm Margaret's nerves tonight.
THE END

Actually I did...I don't know about Dorry. 😂

Oh, yes, it has been better over the past couple of months, thankfully! We're still quite a bit slower than normal though and a little concerned about what will happen come Fall/Winter if there is a bad outbreak and everyone goes into lockdown again. We'll just pray that doesn't happen! 😊

Oh that's good! I have to confess, I found your website today, and was quite shocked how big your business is!!! I thought it was more of a "side" business! 😂 I found your website and Facebook.

Haha, yeah we saw the new "Like"! 😊Yes, it is our main source of income. We actually had a much larger boarding kennel in VA. We had 72 runs and could sometimes have as many as 90 dogs!

Lol! Yep, that's my family!! 😂😂
Our breeding business is our main income. It's amazing how dogs can bring in so much money! Some people will tell us that "you can't live off of money just from breeding dogs!" But we've had no problems! And I guess it also depends on your lifestyle, too.

That's wonderful!! It seems that some people really do well with breeding and others don't. Sadly I'm not going to be able to breed my dogs anymore as we recently found out that one of the puppies had a form of cancer that is hereditary. 😥

Aww how sad! 😰 I'm so sorry! Is your dog okay?

My dogs are as healthy as can be, but it must be something in Carina and Zorra's line. (We never had a problem with my older dog (Nellie's) puppies, and they had the same father too).

Huh. That's good! So it's just a cancer that your puppies will always get?

Well, a puppy from Carina's first litter died of cancer when she was about a year old. No one suggested that it could be hereditary, so we just thought it was one of those things that can happen, sad as it was. Then we got a call a few weeks ago from someone who had got one of Zorra's puppies from the most recent litter. The puppy had to be put down and the vet said it was hereditary. All the others have been healthy so far, and I'm sure the majority of them will be fine, but if it's something that's going to keep recurring I don't want to take the chance of more families to go through that heartbreak.

Oh that's so sad!! Have you of (I know this would be hard!) selling your female dogs you have now and replacing them?

Wouldst have the wrath of Meg upon you? Not even a person who has helped a bloody frail violet cross the road could be prepared to accept that proposal!
