Ill read through the tasks later in case there is any other info I need to give

Eeek - we don't want that either. They are the Featured Authors in the Monthly challenge... We'll all be up Sh*t Creek if that one is called. No MM there. But seriously - low chance of that being called on balance...

*Julia Quinn
*TJ Klune - LOL. Can't believe we had an MM in there! And its one two of you don't want to read 🤣
*Jeaniene Frost
*Tessa Bailey
*Sarina Bowen
Michaelle and Lisa may need to take the pass they have for that one!!
(One pass per player for any task in the challenge...)

I agree with TJ Klune. No thanks.

KC Wells (England)

What is it exactly that turns you all off? I'm wondering if you all know something I don't, besides the writing... PM if you don't want to put it out there :) Or not. No need to solve the mystery :D

I agree with TJ Klune. No thanks.

I'm a bit of a NO with Amy Lane and her series, but I know I can find a standalone book from her if everyone else wants to use her. I HATE her angsty stuff, but I know she does softer books as well.
Not too sure on Alessandra Hazard either. But again, willing to give them a go :)

I know there's a lot of controversy about it, but it was so similar to Shelter that I was just flabbergasted that it wasn't fanfiction with a few changes & scene expansions. I'd have given it more credit had it been acknowledged as such; supposedly it's based on his life...but seriously, it's too similar. (I ADORED Shelter, in case it's not obvious.)
Put a bad taste in my mouth from that point on.
Blasphemy is a potential read because of the plot; I'm down for that kind of thing. I mean, "Where God is a frat bro who wants to get his brother laid, Satan absolutely does not have time for this shit..." just screams my name.

I haven't read Shelter but I also didn't love BOatK. And I hated that book with the hand on it (Burn?). I found both of them (esp Burn) VERY repetitive. But I kept giving him a go and now I really like his later stuff.
Clearly I must give authors a lot of second chances though ;)
...So what book is Shelter?
(And I hate the idea of plagiarism.)

I think might be on about the 2007 film Shelter, which is a masterpiece and one of my favourite films. I've not read boatk but just looking at the premise it seems similar...

The cinematography & music were amazing. And I loved the plot, too! (And yeah, just read that synopsis at Wiki and then think about the plot of BOatK and tell me that's not weird.)

Movie. So damn good."
Oh wow - that's almost exactly it (from my memory of BOatK!!!))
How disappointing.
(I'll never watch the movie since I hate sitting and staring at the TV!)

Oh hell yes! I was obsessed with the soundtrack and I still listen to it a lot, gives me all of the feels and emotions. The setting, the cast and jsut the whole film is incredible. Especially in Lgbt film, considering when realised and its a true masterpiece in film. I'm always looking for something to match it not found one yet xx

Sounds like you shouldn't! You'll only be disappointed that is so similar :(

I was just thinking that too, as Shelter is one of my favourite films and I don't want it tainted by the book if it doesn't match up which I doubt it could.

DO NOT read BOatK if you loved Shelter as much as I did!

Thank you! I am so glad found out before I added to my tbr, I kept skipping over BOatK whenever saw mention of it. So it seems destiny that I leave it alone, i loved Shelter too much for it to be tainted.

If you ever get the itch to watch a great coming out/first love story, Shelter is one I cannot recommend enough. (Provided you could sit for it!)
And there's actually a review of BOatK that details out all the similarities.

OMG. That's just terrible. 😞
Puts a very sour taste in my mouth and so hard to reconcile with his later stuff... As you say, if he had acknowledged it, it would be very different.

But, if we get that category I can give something new a chance to see if the writing style works for me.

I would have liked to have read it if anything near as good as Shelter as I've enjoyed some of his other work. But reading the review and the fact he still says didn't take any inspiration from shelter at all, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Agree with you Jane xx

Also - the list isn’t exhaustive - we might get something completely different from those 75 options. They were examples from memory. Perhaps that is just Kat covering her bases though too - If teams read crazy fast!!

I am so glad you said that Shannon, thats what I think too.

I hadn't realised what he'd done - so I understand now why no-one wants to read his books...

I don't think I can do anything else right now. lol

I think it may yet be delayed. Kat said in the Q&A thread that we were still waiting for a few ppl to check in :( Bit of a false start. Time for another drink... 🥂

1. Each player reads a book by the same author, teams decide author - no pass for this task.
Ready, Set, GO!

LOL - same author and we all have to decide. Here were the options...
Eli Easton, Kim Fielding, Mary Calmes, Alice Winters, Abigail Roux, Megan Derr, KJ Charles, Jordan Castillo Price, Josh Lanyon, Jordan L Hawk, AJ Sherwood, Joanna Chambers, Kaje Harper, Lucy Lennox, Sloane Kennedy, Charlie Cochet, Lily Morton, LA Witt.
plus more from Shannon (double-ups removed):
Lisa Worrall (England)
KC Wells (England)
Annabeth Albert
Felice Stevens
Lane Hayes
Marie Sexton
Jaime Reese
KM Neuhold
Roan Parrish
Susan Mac Nicol (England)
Leigh Garrett
Amy Lane
I removed the last two since I'm not keen on them...
Now I'll have a look at your lists to see what is on them given you may not see this for a little bit. But if so, please let me know your absolulte preference - maybe #1 and #2 and we can go from there...

Josh Lanyon
Felice Stevens
SJ Himes (not on the list but threw it up because I have an book that is exactly 150pp)
I will pretty much read (and reread) most of the other authors on the list. Not sure I have anything for Worrall, Reese or MacNicol, and not much for Lane Hayes.
Lisa is probably asleep right now, but she has a pretty broad range of options on her TBR including Megan Derr, Mary Calmes, Jordan Castillo Price, Jordan L Hawk, Kim Fielding etc. But Lisa also said she was open to any author really (but of course, we'll avoid Klune ;)
***edit***
I've found a few Amy Lane's that I'm happy to read as well :)

(Honestly, all the ones listed work for me but I have one up for each of these three that also fit another challenge.)

Lisa has both Easton and Lanyon on her various lists - not sure which list is her preference to work off but definitely has some on there...
**edit**
Just checked for Leta Blake and I have a couple there I can pick from as well. As does Lisa.

Leta Blake
Eli Easton
Felice Stevens
