@Lucija RE Part 4; Yessss, totally agree with everything you loved too!! Particularly (view spoiler)[ Kaladin and Dalinar finally meeting! I've been waiting for it too, but it seemed impossible with the stations they're both in! (hide spoiler)] Also, I'm glad you said you loved all of that because it motivated me to get to it faster, I was like, I need to read this haha.

I read all that in one breath, it was so amazing

Whoa, well that's just crazy haha :D but I still envy you haha
Finished! Wow, there were so many twists you didn't see coming in that last part!! Really interesting, even Shallan's part lol.(view spoiler)

No problem Lucija :) Well, I'm happy following the rough plan by Anni that's on the first page of this thread so sometime in August. Shall we see how Paula's doing and then decide on a date afterwards?
How about the 5th of August guys?Need to be done with book 3 by November for Rhythm of War release...
Easily!
Hi all, new to good reads and buddy reading. Iv seen your planning on reading oathbringer in September. Is this still happening and if so can I get involved. Apologies if its a stupid question but does the discussion to the buddy reading run on this thread? Thanks
Welcome aboard FBR Jordan. Yhey're reading WoR in August so I think Oathbringer is on track for September sometime. plenty of time for the RoW release.
Oh that's great. Thanks guys. I will definitely join in on the buddy read of oathbringer. If I can Iay jump on board with the WoR one too. When does that start?
Hi Jordan, we set a date for the 5th of August to start Words of Radiance and we'll discuss it here. Sometimes people start their reads a couple of days before or after as long as it's roughly around the same time. Welcome :)
Finished!! (view spoiler)
I don't know how you restrained yourselves from reading the second one. If I liked this one the second one, with all of them meeting, is going to be epic.
Which are your favourite five characters?
Mine are undoubtely kaladin then dalinar. Then probably shallan, jasnah, adolin or rock
Five characters.. Gotta be kaladin, adolin, Lopen, hoid/wit and jasnah.Do we have a definite date for WoR br yet?
Yes, Jordan, the 5 of August. More than that and I could not restrained myself form reading it to be honest
I know I can't wait Paula! Especially since my current read isn't exactly gripping me..5 favourites;
Kaladin: Best by far, fucking love him
Syl: love her innocence and sweet nature
Adolin: I think he'll make a good leader, look forward to seeing more of him
Rock: very funny
Wit: very intriguing, can't wait to find out more about him
(And just to cheat I did really like Dalinar and Lopen too :p)
Totally agree, it is pretty damn amazing! All the reveals were so good!!
(view spoiler)
Got my copies of Words of Radiance yesterday! So excited!
It was hard to choose favourites because so many were great. Haha, I did cheat, I put one character more because I couldn't decide, Beena.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry! I started pretty late with my re-read of The way of kings, then I was trying to catch up, but you were so fast and wrote so many comments! I hade a few very busy weeks (somehow everyone in my group of friends is getting pregnant and I was crocheting presents like crazy) and I always opened the thread saw all those looong comments and wanted to come back when I had enough time to really appreciate them... And that was well... Now 😅
As Iain already said, it's kinda hard to discuss the book when you already know what will happen next, oh and there's so much that's going to happen, so you're definitely in for a hell of a ride! And sadly I'm not even such a Cosmere expert that I could have delivered all those great details. 😂
But now I finally went through all your comments and it was so cool to real your thoughts, sorry again that I wasn't more active, but it seems like I'm right in time to start book 2 with you and do better 😅
Hoid also reminded me of The Fool, not only because of their wittiness, but also how they know... things :D Maybe that's also why I like Hoid so much, even without him having much screentime, because I love Fool so much! :)Talking about favourite characters, here are my top 5 (very smooth transition, yeah!)
1. Dalinar - Hands down, he's amazing!
2. Lopen
3. Adolin and Renarin (I'm sooo excited for Renarin's flashbacks in book 7, wasn't it?)
4. Jasnah
5. Hoid
And of course Syl and some of the other Spren we meet later :)
Just curious @Sir Anni are you American and therefore reading an American copy of the book. When you speak of 'The Fool' are you talking about Elhokar's 'right hand man' who ridicules everybody at parties. I only ask as he is known as Wit in English books and was just curious.
I agree also agree with you, I enjoyed Kaladin's parts way more than Shallan's.Her parts weren't bad at all, but I think Kaladin's were way more interesting. I'm looking forward what you think of her further development, I was sometimes really annoyed by her, but I think it could have been a great build-up for her person, so I'm so excited to see her in Rhythm of war.
I do like Kaladin, but to be honest I like Bridge 4 a bit more 😅 Sure he's what keeps them together, but I love them as a group. Kaladin on it's own is a bit too moody for my tastes (of course he has a lot of reasons to be!).

The Fool is a character from Robin Hoob's book series "Realms of the Elderlings".
I was comparing him to Hoid (Wit).
And no, I'm not american, I'm from Germany :) But I switched between UK and US paperbacks reading the series the first time around, I don't think there were any changes regarding the names
Jordan, I think she is referring to how much Wit reminds her of the Fool from Robin Hobb, another series we read here from time to time. The two of them have a ton of similarities (✷‿✷)

No worries Sir Anni, new book new start. And yes, although in way of kings Shallans chapters were more boring than kaladins, in this book I'm thinking I'll love them. I'm so intrigued by her past...
Yay Anni!! No don't worry, you're still joining now! Sorry we moved too fast for you lol. Ah, a baby boom? *cough*Lockdown*cough* :pthere's so much that's going to happen, so you're definitely in for a hell of a ride!
Exciting!!
I agree also agree with you, I enjoyed Kaladin's parts way more than Shallan's.
Her parts weren't bad at all, but I think Kaladin's were way more interesting. I'm looking forward what you think of her further development, I was sometimes really annoyed by her, but I think it could have been a great build-up for her person, so I'm so excited to see her in Rhythm of war.
Yeah agree, her parts were definitely still readable, there wasn't a point that I didn't want to read just cos it switched back to her, but I found it hard to care about her plot line much lol. Sounds interesting, like her character will grow more hopefully.
I do like Kaladin, but to be honest I like Bridge 4 a bit more 😅 Sure he's what keeps them together, but I love them as a group. Kaladin on it's own is a bit too moody for my tastes (of course he has a lot of reasons to be!)
Haha, fair enough! Bridge 4 are great too (even though they started off a bit grouchy lol). I'm looking forward to seeing how Kaladin deals with having his own company of them!
Looking forward to having you with us this time! :)
I'm gonna stalk all your comments to refresh my memory and get me even more excited for Rhythm of War! :D
Guys I can't wait to start reading, I'll start when I finish writing this haha I haven't been home for some time and I couldn't visit GR as much lately, but now I think I'll be able to be more active, I'm looking forward to discussing this book with you :)
Which are your favourite five characters?
Hmm, that is hard... I think I'll go with (in no particular order) Kaladin, Jasnah, Dalinar, Adolin aaand I can't decide between Lopen, Rock and Hoid. That's technically 7 characters. I'm terrible at this game.
I do like Kaladin, but to be honest I like Bridge 4 a bit more 😅 Sure he's what keeps them together, but I love them as a group. Kaladin on it's own is a bit too moody for my tastes (of course he has a lot of reasons to be!).
I get what you're saying. I definitely think some part of my love for Kaladin comes from him having an interesting story (especially compared to Shallan's). And I love his interactions with Bridge 4 and how they all work together. Can't wait to see more of them.
Beena wrote: "Ah, a baby boom? *cough*Lockdown*cough* :p"Haha, I'm really scared to see the real aftermath! So far I was mostly preparing gifts for friends that were already pregnant before Corona or even already have their baby 😂 I guess it's "that" age...
Siobhan wrote: "I'm gonna stalk all your comments to refresh my memory and get me even more excited for Rhythm of War! :D"Yay! You're, of course, my favorite stalker ❤️
Lucija wrote: "I definitely think some part of my love for Kaladin comes from him having an interesting story (especially compared to Shallan's). "We also got his backstory in Way of Kings, maybe you'll like Shallan more when we now focus on her backstory :)
Also by the way, congratulations on your graduation! :) I hope you have a little time to enjoy yourself before starting something new?
And in general, I hope I don't sound like I dislike Kaladin, he's a great character and I especially love his interaction with Syl, it's just Sanderson's fault for having so many great characters to choose from that he hadn't made it to my top 5 (or rather Top 6/7 😂)
