MaryAnn Diorio (drmaryanndiorio) | 33 comments Hello, Fellow Fiction Lovers,

I have been a part of the CFD Facebook group and was delighted to learn that there is also a CFD Goodreads group.

Fiction is a huge part of my life. Jesus told stories to present the truth that set people free. I read stories with a Biblical worldview in order to learn truth so that I, too, can be free.

I look forward to interacting with you. I already know some of you through FB and our interesting discussions there. I'm sure we'll have more of those here on GR. :)

Blessings,

MaryAnn Diorio

Welcome, Karlesha! What sort of genres within Christian fiction are you interested in? Historical, contemporary, mystery...? I'm sure we can set you up with some recommendations, if you want some.

Karlesha sharne’ | 10 comments Hmmm maybe more contemporary? Idk im open to a lot of different things. The only thing that’s really important to me is that the faith content in the book is really there. Like I want something that ministers to me as I read. Something that encourages my faith ! For example I’m reading “This present darkness” by Frank E Peretti right now. By the way I’m not too into romance, but I’m not totally against it either 🤔..lol

Most of what I read includes romance. I’ll peruse my shelves and see what faith-encouraging books that are lighter on the romance I can recommend.

Right off, I can recommend Kim Vogel Sawyer’s My Heart Remembers by Kim Vogel Sawyer . The romance takes a back seat in the plot, and the faith is deep in her books.

I’ll be back later with more recs.

Thanks so much for taking the time to recommend a book to me based of the genres I like and dislike!💜💜 woow that book sounds soo good. I’ve always wanted to read a book with orphans

I'm glad to help! I usually read really emotional reads, so you might want to have tissues handy if you go with any of my recommendations. :)

Here are a few additional books that might fit into your favored genres:
Chasing Hope by Kathryn Cushman Shaped by the Waves by Christina Suzann Nelson The Prayer Box (Carolina Heirlooms #1) by Lisa Wingate The Plans We Made by Kathryn Cushman

Oooo ok nice ! Thank you 😊 and do you have and recommendations for any lighthearted reads ?

message 412: by Andrea, Hospitality Coordinator (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 6243 comments Mod
I have a few I can recommend, but most will be romance.

You Belong with Me (Restoring Heritage, #1) by Tari Faris Eddy and the Tidepools by Kellyn Roth Made to Last (Where Love Begins, #1) by Melissa Tagg Sit, Stay, Love (Love Unleashed, #1) by Dana Mentink

Book two of Melissa Tagg's series is better than book one, but I recommend reading them in order so the series isn't spoiled.

I've enjoyed a lot of Tari Faris's books, and Melissa Tagg's as well. They're lighthearted romances. I don't read a ton of lighthearted books, as I'm much more of an emotional reader, so I don't have a lot of books to recommend on that front.

Karlesha sharne’ | 10 comments @andrea ok I’ll still check them out 😁🤔

I too enjoy lighthearted reads with strong faith threads, Karlesha. I usually find those in romance, though, as I'm a romance junkie. I write fairly lighthearted Christian romance if you want to check out my Goodreads author profile.

But I can also recommend a few of the books I've enjoyed recently: The 80s Rom-Com Club (light on Christian faith but present, mostly romance); Muffins & Moonbeams (mostly romance); The Key to Love (mostly romance but with secondary Christian themes); & P.S. Goodbye (romance but strong faith thread).

Vanessa | 4 comments Hi everyone!

My name is Gloria but I prefer to go by “G” 🙃.
Even though I’ve joined several other groups, this is my very first time posting in one.
So a little about myself: like everyone else here I love reading. As a kid I read regularly but for the past years, I hadn’t really done much reading (too busy binge watching tv 🫣) but last year I decided I wanted to be a “reader” again. So I’ve been on this journey ever since. But as I got ino reading (especially in the “adult” section) I noticed that a LOT of the hyped up and 5 star books that were recommended, weren’t clean at all :( I’ve discovered that finding clean reads seems to get harder by the day… (in fact I almost gave up on reading because of it). However as I looked at YouTube videos of clean/Christian recommendations, I saw that not all hope was lost lol :) And in a nutshell, that’s kind of what brings me to this group… a place where I can get book recommendations that I can safely read without having to worry about content. Hope to meet/interact with many of you here ☺️

Have you tried Kim Vogel Sawyer or Kathryn Cushman yet? They’re a couple of my favorites.

Also, in recent years, I have added content warnings to the bottom of my reviews. Feel free to check out any of those. If you have a particular book or author in mind, I’d be happy to send you links to my reviews if you need them.

Hi, G,

So good to have you here! Welcome!

I have a sister named Gloria. She goes by "Gloria". :)

I hear you about some fiction that is not God-honoring. Here are a few Christian authors I recommend:

Cathy Gohlke
Carrie Turansky
Ane Mulligan
Pat Jeanne Davis

I have found these authors to be "safe" authors in terms of glorifying God trough their fiction.

I also write fiction. So, if you feel so inclined, you may like my Italian Chronicles Trilogy, set in Sicily and Brooklyn in the late 1890s and early 1900s.

Happy Reading!

MaryAnn Diorio

Welcome G! We're glad you joined us. You will find more clean, faith filled books here than you will have time to read. Like Andrea, I give heads up on content if a book has something that others may not like included.

Some of my favorite authors are:
Angela Elwell Hunt (Biblical Fiction)
Susan May Warren (Christian suspense)
Elizabeth Camden (Historical Fiction)
Mary Connelly (Historical Fiction)
Courtney Walsh (Contemporary Romance)

Hi Gloria/ "G".... glad to read about your journey back into the world of reading:) It's a world of fascination to be caught up in an intriguing story, while possibly learning about history, or even being encouraged spiritually. I would be only too glad to recommend any as I have a wide variety in my tastes.

G, I thought of another favorite author whose books are clean -- and fun! Karen Witemeyer writes some romcom westerns that usually get me laughing and rooting for the leads in a hurry... and flipping pages fast! Her latest series isn't as romcom as her norm, but it's fully western and courageous; I've read book one and thought it was her best yet. I'll just drop a few covers here...

To Win Her Heart by Karen Witemeyer Short-Straw Bride (Archer Brothers, #1) by Karen Witemeyer Full Steam Ahead (Full Steam Ahead, #1) by Karen Witemeyer

Newest series: Hanger's Horsemen
At Love's Command (Hanger's Horsemen, #1) by Karen Witemeyer The Heart's Charge (Hanger's Horsemen, #2) by Karen Witemeyer In Honor's Defense (Hanger's Horsemen, #3) by Karen Witemeyer

Lyvita (goodreadscomuser_lyvitabrooks) | 20 comments Welcome G,
I agree that finding clean books can be a challenge at time but you are in the right place to ask questions about books before reading. One of the things I share on the reviews I do is tell how much cussing, etc. can be found in the book. Keep Reading, G!

Welcome back, Mary! I'm in Texas too and am right there with you on the heat. I had a bowl of ice cream last night, and even indoors, that thing was melting so fast! The air conditioners are having trouble keeping up with the intense heat and high heat index we have right now.

I hope you have some great books to read while you're not spending time with your grandkids.

Crystal | 741 comments Hi! Just wondering if there’s a suggested way to track or enter progress of a book that’s in large print? I’m starting Wonderland Creek by Lynn Austin in large print but don’t see it in Goodreads. I googled how to add a book but a Goodreads message said only librarians can add books 🥴

It's there. Click on all editions under the publication information on the book. Scroll down until you find the one that says large print. It doesn't have the book cover but it is there.

Camy (camytang) | 59 comments Hello everyone! I’m not actually new, but I haven’t been on Goodreads for about a year because of health issues, so I thought I’d reintroduce myself. (I accidentally posted this in the author intro thread so I deleted it there to post it here instead.)

I’m an author—I write Christian Romantic Suspense as Camy Tang and Christian Regency Romantic Suspense as Camille Elliot. I used to be a biologist before I became a full-time author.

The last few years, I’ve been struggling with IBS, which really impacted my writing. I’ve been really grateful for people in CFD who have prayed for me.

I also love to read, although I haven’t been able to read as much lately because I’ve been trying to write around my health issues, and I end up not having as much time for reading as I used to. I read very widely, across many genres, and not just Christian fiction but also secular novels.

I hope I’ll be able to join in some of the book conversations again! I can’t read as much as I used to, but there are so many good titles being talked about on CFD!

Laura Cohen | 19 comments Hello, my name is Laura. I'm a homeschool mom and I love to read (no surprises there). I love a good clean romance, but Christian Fiction in general is always my go to. It always lifts my spirits and I need that at the end of the day. My favorite Christian author is Francine Rivers, and my favorite book is Redeeming Love. I also love Karen Kingsbury but I am growing tired of these selections and joined the group to get some awesome new book recommendations.

I’m Elizabeth from Glasgow Scotland
I have loved Christian fiction for many years and I started off reading Brock and Bodie Thoene books in the 1980’s
It wasn’t easy back then to source books by American authors but now Amazon has changed that and of course I have my trusty Kindle
Now some of my favourite authors are Mesu Andrews, Jenifer Jennings, Tessa Afshar, Heather B Moore, Roberta Kells Dorr - so many more too
I’m looking forward to finding other authors too and recommendations
