I've just finished Amy Stewart's delightful Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit, the third in this wonderful historical fiction mystery series, based on a real lady cop. New Jersey in 1916. I'm sure glad she won't quit!

Crazy Love by Steve Brewer

Bubba Mabry #6, OK to read as a stand-alone. Bubba stumbles and bumbles his way to solving another murder. Light, entertaining, easy to read mystery but I spent half the book urging Bubba to not act like a fool. 2 stars.

Richard Russo's characters always seem like people I'd recognise. In Chances Are, three guys and the girl they all (secretly?) adored were in college together during the draft for Vietnam. The guys are now 66, having a reunion, but where's Jacy?

The Good German by Joseph Kanon

Reporter goes to Berlin immediately after the end of WW II to cover the Potsdam Conference and also to find his German ex-lover. In the course of these he stumbles into murder and espionage. Very atmospheric work showing the horrors of the War and it's aftermath and also the hypocrisy of our occupation of Germany. Remember all those German scientists who built our space program? Parts of the love story drag a bit but overall I give the book a solid recommendation. 4 stars.

Jane Harper's Tasmanian coast in The Survivors is just as compelling as her outback in The Dry and The Lost Man. Evelyn Bay is such a small town that it's almost a locked room mystery. Loved it!

I am torturing myself with a book called The Firelight Girls. I am hating every minute of this book. It was for my RL book group. I told the woman who selected it I could not get through the first 50 pages. She challenged me to finish the book because she loved it. She said if I did not like it by the end she would let me have her next book pick.
