I finally had time last night to start The Decagon House Murders. So far so good but I'm only on p. 29.

Araych | 676 comments Crazy Love Crazy Love (Bubba Mabry #6) by Steve Brewer by Steve Brewer

Bubba Mabry #6, OK to read as a stand-alone. Bubba stumbles and bumbles his way to solving another murder. Light, entertaining, easy to read mystery but I spent half the book urging Bubba to not act like a fool. 2 stars.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) These aren't "mysteries" exactly, but many mystery fans will like these:

I finished:

Books of Blood Volume Three (Books of Blood #3) by Clive Barker
Books of Blood: Volume Three by Clive Barker
Rating: 4 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

which is part of the larger collection:

Books of Blood Volumes One to Three (Books of Blood, #1-3) by Clive Barker
Books of Blood: Volumes One to Three by Clive Barker
Rating: 5 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

and I started reading:

Books of Blood Volume IV (Books of Blood, #4) by Clive Barker
Books of Blood: Volume IV AKA The Inhuman Condition by Clive Barker

which is part of the larger collection:

Books of Blood, Volumes 4-6 by Clive Barker
Books of Blood, Volumes 4-6 by Clive Barker

Highly recommended for fans of horror or dark fiction. NOTE: graphically violent in just about every way you can imagine, and many ways that you probably can't.

so far The Decagon House Murders is going along pretty well. At least I'm hooked now by p. 88

PattyMacDotComma | 920 comments Richard Russo's characters always seem like people I'd recognise. In Chances Are, three guys and the girl they all (secretly?) adored were in college together during the draft for Vietnam. The guys are now 66, having a reunion, but where's Jacy?

Araych | 676 comments The Good German The Good German by Joseph Kanon by Joseph Kanon

Reporter goes to Berlin immediately after the end of WW II to cover the Potsdam Conference and also to find his German ex-lover. In the course of these he stumbles into murder and espionage. Very atmospheric work showing the horrors of the War and it's aftermath and also the hypocrisy of our occupation of Germany. Remember all those German scientists who built our space program? Parts of the love story drag a bit but overall I give the book a solid recommendation. 4 stars.

Bill I have two books on the go and will finish those before I start any others as we wind down 2020. If I finish early enough I may try another.. Anyway, here they are -

1. The Crimson in the Purple by Holly Roth, enjoying very much, kind of Dynasty meets noir

2. The Irishman (Movie Tie-In): Frank Sheeran and Closing the Case on Jimmy Hoffa by Charles Brandt (off to a slow start with this one)

I told the woman who selected it I could not get through the first 50 pages. She challenged me to finish the book because she loved it. She said if I did not like it by the end she would let me have her next book pick.

She is loosing.
