I'm reading Dreamcatcher by King (c'mon, we all know which one) and...it's just as weird as the movie. Or, I should say the movie was as weird as the book since the novel came first, of course. I'm actually enjoying it even though it's FAR from King's best. Also reading The Drop...it's a book from the Bosch series and so far I'm really enjoying it.
Ian McGuire's highly acclaimed novel, The North Water, is the brutal story of a nineteenth-century whaling expedition that goes terrifyingly wrong. It is also brilliant!
5★ Link to my North Water review
Finished The Zebra-Striped Hearse by Ross Macdonald. Good old school noir. Rating - 4/5

Fortune Favors the Dead
by Stephen SpotswoodNew York 1945. It's Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin, except as women. Cute idea, pretty well done. This is Spotswood's first, and it's a good first. Hope he writes more of the series, and if so I'm sure they will improve from good to great.
Only Truth
by Julie CameronA woman, who's still recovering from a traumatic assault from long ago, is stalked by a killer.
Modern story with a gothic feel, 3.5 stars

I've just finished Murder at an Irish Christmas, book six in a series I'd decided to boycott a few months ago. I don't take back any of the criticisms I aired in my review of Murder in an Irish Churchyard, but when the audible version of book six dropped, I decided I loved the characters and setting so much that I couldn't do it.
Here's my four-star review.

Now starting WHEN SHE WAS GOOD by Michael Robotham, the second novel in his mystery/thriller series featuring forensic psychologist Cyrus Haven.
I read The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien CharlesIt is historical fiction, set in Paris during WWII and 1983-84 small town Montana. It is a story of love, betrayal, sadness and coming of age, all wrapped in one.

I've just finished Stay Home by Ava Pierce.

I love that book! Her other books (the ones I've read) are outstanding. Dorothy Hughes is one of my very favorite writers. I hope you'll read more of her work.

Indigo a Valentino Mystery
by Loren EstlemanValentino #6, OK to read as a stand-alone but some familiarity with the characters would be helpful. Our movie detective works to solve an old disappearance and locate an old movie thought lost forever. This is another cute entry in the Valentino series but this one, while light and enjoyable, is rather short and the mystery is much too easy to figure out.
I finished reading a book that lots of people love, but I didn't:
Every Dead Thing by John Connolly
Rating: 2 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
and I started reading:
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
"I finished reading a book that lots of people love, but I didn't:"
Story of my life. Case in point: Mexican Gothic which just rubbed me the wrong way for being so obvious from the outset. On the flip side, I've loved a lot of books that lots of people hate. It's all subjective.

Finished Your House Will Pay by Steph Cha. An ambitious crime novel about the race relations between African Americans and Koreans but it is a little too neat for my liking. Rating - 3/5.

I've checked a few libraries. They don't have many of her books, but I've added some to my wish list.
