2) Try, Try Again -
From a Buick 8 by Stephen King From a Buick 8 by Stephen King

I stopped reading this book in June 2012. I was probably 100 pages into it but just wasn't in the mood for horror at the time.

This book is not a re-read

10.5. Older and Wiser

I read Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China. I have read a number of fiction books set in China in the last couple months, and wanted to learn more about China in the 20th century.

25.5 -- Dakimel's task: Lucky Number Twelve

For my first book, I chose option A, and read Murder in Montparnasse, #12 in the Phryne Fisher series.

For my second book, I chose option C, and read A Fair Maiden. My western zodiac sign is Virgo, and the symbol is the "maiden."

25.9 -- Pat's task: Narcissus & Echo

I chose my books from the Narcissus section of the task.

For my first book, I chose option A and read As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride, written in the first person. The second line of the first chapter is "It was a message from my agent, Harriet Robinson, that had been slipped under my door by a bellhop at the Hotel Kempinski, where I was staying." The book has 259 pages.

For my second book, I chose option B and read Just Call Me Mike: A Journey to Actor and Activist, with the word "me" in the title. The book has 368 pages.

The books have a combined total of 627 pages, so meet the page requirement for the task. Both books were new to me, not re-reads.

Happy (worldhasteeth) | 173 comments 10.3. National Days.
(view spoiler)

A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki is set at least 50% in Japan, one of the countries which celebrates it's National Day in winter.
This is shown by the main page genre "Cultural > Japan" and the description excerpt (view spoiler)
After reading the book, I can confirm that the Japanese portion is more than 50% of the book, particularly with the addition of the diary and letters of Nao's great uncle, a kamikaze pilot.
