Great start, and thanks Sally! I had forgotten Victoria Purman's books were the Summer series, so I have changed my list slightly. I had #2, Someone Like You by Victoria Purman Someone Like You to read in romance, so have moved it down to Summer and added Passionfruit & Poetry by Téa Cooper Passionfruit & Poetry by Téa Cooper into the Romance slot:)

Lee at ReadWriteWish (leeatreadwritewish) | 322 comments I've only decided on the spell it out and Christmas sections thus far.

S is for The Sunburnt Country by Fiona Palmer which I really need to finish and is Aussie author

U is for Unleashing Mr. Darcy by Teri Wilson

M is for The Meryl Streep Movie Club by Mia March I might have to watch some movies too!

M is for The Mothers' Group by Fiona Higgins Aussie author

E is for Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert which has been on my TBR for ages

R is for Ronan's Echo by Joanne van Os

I found a Christmas book at a library sale recently, so I'll read that for number 2. Christmas Magic by Cathy Kelly

message 115: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) Brenda, this is way more than I can read in a season, but perhaps I can be creative?

1a-The Summer Book by Tove Jansson & 8- Has Summer in the Title?

5- Literature Map Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian & 9- Historical Fiction & 10- Fav Genre

By doing this I could read 2 books instead of 5 which will help me to get through the rest of the books (even that is stretching it LOL).

Let me know if this is cheating :)

Good try Ace - but yes this is "cheating"

One book for each task of the challenge.

That is not to say a book can't be used for other challenges.

Earlier this year I had one book that did my year long Aussie Author challenge, the Autumn challenge and the April challenge. One book 3 challenges - not one book 3 tasks.

The point of the challenge is to have a go - it doesn't matter if you don't complete it at all. Some are over achievers and read double the amount (Steve and Brenda come to mind here) others like myself are happy just to do it once - but there are lots who do their best and have lots of fun picking and plotting over their want to reads and TBR lists to get books to fit :)

Please join in even if you can manage just a few books - and the two you've picked are very good :)

To me a challenge is a target you set yourself and if you don't achieve it you just try again next time. And what fun we all have trying:)

I agree with Phrynne, I sometimes don't quite get through the challenges I set. Sometimes I do, but it's always about the joy of reading and trying new genres and authors :)

message 120: by Zoey (last edited Nov 17, 2014 04:51PM) (new)

Zoey (rozannen) | 1045 comments I quite often dont finish the challenge & there is a good chance that will happen with the Summer one as I have picked a couple of larger books ( The Sunne in Splendour over 1000 pages!!!!!)
but I have way too much fun sitting in front of my bookshelf making my list not to pick all 15 :)
What I dont get read this challenge, I will try & fit into the next one.

and yes I do the same Sally - one book, multiple challenges :)

Hey Ace...everything that the others said:) What I sometimes suggest is that you pick either the first half of the challenge and do all of those, then go on to the second half if you've time to manage it..or vice versa of course. The fun is in the trying...

If you like, you could choose the first half - either 7 or 8 - and do them, then if you have time, start on the 2nd half (or vice versa of course!)

You can't do the Spell It Out, which is 6 and #2 and #3 as well? It'd be good if you could - make it more of a challenge for you:)

message 143: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Just to clarify:)

The goal of the challenge is to try to read all of the books - if you don't think you can manage it, and this will distress you, then it may be best to respond NO to the invitation. If you don't think you can finish them all - but want to aim for a personal best then please join in and respond YES.

message 144: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments I will endeavour to do:
Spell It Out:
S- Skin
U- UnEnchanted
M- The Miniaturist
M- Stargate Atlantis: Mirror, Mirror
E- Eat, Pray, Love
R- The River Folk

Australia Day: Full Moon Rising
Valentine's Day: Paradise Fields
Historical Fiction: Little Women
And favourite genre from TBR: Clockwork Angel

We'll see about the others.
