scavengerhunt

Each month we will give you a list of 50 themed words to find in your books.

There is no limit to how many words you can get per book.

For each word please post a link to the book, the author, the date you finished it, plus the page number/location and sentence where you found the word.

EXAMPLE -
Apple - A Touch of Ice - L.J. Charles (1/10/16)
I had a weakness for apple pie, heavy on the cinnamon... (loc. 245)

Any genre/format is fine.
Re-reads are OK.
No page minimum.
To count a book towards the challenge you must read the majority of it after the start date of the challenge.
Please post a partial list of the challenge when you sign up.

At the end of the month please re-post your whole challenge as a new message so that we can award your Hall of Fame badge!

(Even if you don't hit the level you were aiming for, you can still claim a badge for the words you did get.)

Carly (car88) | 63 comments NOVEMBER 2019 - SCAVENGER HUNT
MILITARY

·Post 36 *FINISHED*

47/50
AIRPLANE - #4 (loc 7237, 66%)
"Last year we were the B-52 Boobers." They'd worn hats in the shape of airplanes and stuck little cutouts of boobs all over their bodies.
ARMS - #2 (loc 2464, 51%)
At a loud curse from his Alpha, Bracken glanced his way and saw the male facing his mate, arms raised, palms out. "You don't need to get the shotgun, Shay; the bastards are well and truly dead."
ATTACK - #3 (loc 2800, 95%)
She grabbed a wadded up garment bag that had a muddy sneaker tread on it and headed toward the bathroom. Beth clutched at her chest and looked ready to have a panic attack.
AUTHORITY - #1 (loc 117, 6%)
I acted out. I skipped school. I got high. I stole cars at an alarming rate - which was when the authorities stepped in.
BATTLE - #2 (loc 3923, 81%)
"I can feel it through the bond. It's not so much anger as…battle adrenaline, maybe." "Fuck," Derren bit out.
BULLET - #2 (loc 1577, 32%)
As the two pups joined Caleb and Kent on the rug, Nick blew out a breath like he'd dodged a bullet. He glared at his laughing mate. "That wasn't funny."
BUNK - #4 (loc 4256, 39%)
"I would ask about the apocalyptic-bunker motif, but I'd hate to prematurely spend one of my ten questions."
CHIEF - #4 (loc 10954, 99%)
Brutus and his team are also immortal (a gift from the gods) and next in line to be Uchben chiefs.
CHOPPER - #2 (loc 284, 6%)
Any red-blooded male would think of exploring her exceptionally sinful curves or fisting the sleek dark hair that fell in choppy waves around her face.
COMBAT
COURAGE - #5 (loc 2151, 44%)
I fake some courage and bitchiness, because the last thing I want is to appear weak.
DANGER - #2 (loc 365, 8%)
Even liked the feeling of being so close to danger. But in her current mood, she'd still happily claw his face right off his skull…just because.
DEADLY - #4 (loc 6300, 57%)
Zac lowered the deadly wiggling scorpion dangling from the end of the stick, only inches from the man's face. "Careful there, Joe. I am not the God of Square Knots."
DEFEND - #5 (loc 3255, 66%)
"That was totally different," I defend haughtily. "Wait. Are you picturing them?"
DEPLOY - #4 (loc 3937, 36%)
Assisting humanity, deploying their divine gifts, trying not to go crazy because the world was such a fucked-up place and so were they-that was a deity's gig.
DISCIPLINE - #2 (loc 2321, 48%)
"You'll change your mind when you're disciplining one kit for trying to kill the other in its sleep."
DUTY - #2 (loc 207, 5%)
Hell, he hadn't even been able to play Call of Duty because the sound of bullets firing took him back to that day.
ENLIST
EXERCISE - #4 (loc 6586, 60%)
"I'll require some T-shirts, athletic shoes, and whatever else men of this era wear on the bottom to keep their cocks in place while they exercise."
FIERCE - #4 (loc 8933, 81%)
She looked up, up, up at a huge man with elephant-sized biceps, a crew cut, and fierce turquoise eyes.
FORCES - #5 (loc 931, 19%)
Okot must see my panic, because he forces me to look at him with a hand on my cheek.
FRONT - #2 (loc 180, 4%)
His eyes slid past her and widened. "What the fuck happened here?" Madisyn licked her front teeth. "They tripped."
GOVERNMENT - #1 (loc 1492, 79%)
"And the government might become overly interested in how we power our town without using their services."
GUARDS - #4 (loc 8908, 81%)
"I'm going to assign a few of our security guards to her. She's a sneaky one. I can see it in her eyes."
GUNS - #1 (loc 1066, 56%)
Four men emerged from a black Cadillac SUV. If the guns hadn't been a dead giveaway as to their intent, the ski masks sure were.
HERO - #4 (loc 7520, 68%)
I'm a godsdamned hero. Did it matter that it was his fault she'd been in danger? Nah. Me. Hero. All the way.
INTELLIGENCE - #3 (loc 2517, 85%)
"So to recap: we have an unknown and growing force of intelligent ferals that cannot be detected by scent."
INVASION - #2 (loc 2043, 42%)
Invading her space so that they were in their own private bubble.
JOIN - #4 (loc 7098, 64%)
"You should join me-I'm one of the sponsors for the Run Wild Marathon."
LOSS - #5 (loc 1042, 21%)
"And, umm…" I breathe out through my nose, at a loss for words. "Is that enough manly descriptors? I've run out."
LOYALTY - #5 (loc 368, 9%)
"Under no circumstances should you trust anyone inside these walls. Loyalty is just a seven letter word here."
MARCH - #5 (loc 1626, 33%)
Sixteen contestants march out, one after another, looking even worse for wear than the last time.
MISSION - #2 (loc 3892, 80%)
"If Bracken's part of my team, he's not hunting with his fellow members of the Movement. You won't have to worry about him going on missions with them."
MUSCLE - #3 (loc 420, 15%)
She ogled each defined muscle, there was a definite six-pack, or was that… "Eight," Colton said, his eyes laughing. "Excuse me?" she stuttered. "Eight-pack." Colton flexed shamelessly.
OPERATION - #1 (loc 830, 44%)
Dominic was busy in the kitchen, where the appliances operated off natural gas.
ORDER - #1 (loc 581, 30%)
It would have been just my luck to mess up the order, thereby causing the entire world to implode.
PARADE - #5 (loc 1806, 37%)
Now she's parading herself in front of them while sitting next to the prince. Yeah, I hate her so hard.
PATROL - #5 (loc 2639, 52%)
"Not many guards patrolling this side of the palace, either."
PEACE - #2 (loc 3860, 79%)
"What the ever-loving fuck?" Claudia shut the door and held up her hands in a gesture of peace.
PROTECT - #1 (loc 1455, 77%)
I hoped concentration wasn't required to protect the town, because with the old bat spewing venom, all I could think about was a nice, thick piece of duct tape to cover her mouth.
READY - #2 (loc 1851, 38%)
She worried his pack would read too much into it and believe she was ready to move there. "Can't go," she said. "Gonna be busy working on my Domino tower."
RIFLE - #1 (loc 1219, 64%)
Fumbling through each room, I rifled every drawer and cabinet.
ROUNDS - #4 (loc 6975, 63%)
He was very much in the mood to put on his tequila shot-glass belt and do the rounds at a retirement home, as was his custom on weekends.
SECURITY - #2 (loc 2079, 43%)
"I have to work, you know. In fact, so do you." "Security work is boring."
TRAINING - #3 (loc 1709, 58%)
"What is EGIT?" Beth sighed. "Evil. Genius. In. Training." Colton looked at Meryn. "Don't infect my daughter with…" he motioned to Meryn's whole body.
TROOPS
VETERAN - #4 (loc 666, 6%)
"I assure you this is not the manner we treat war veterans"
WAR - #3 (loc 1097, 38%)
Twenty minutes later, she got out of bed, her bladder winning the war against laziness.
YELLING - #3 (loc 480, 17%)
Rheia looked over to make sure Penny wasn't getting upset at all the yelling, but she should've known better. Penny and Colton both wore identical looks of fascination as they slowly ate their tangerines and watched the drama that was unfolding.
ZONE - #1 (loc 295, 15%)
The intro music to The Twilight Zone sounded inside my head. If this was a dream, it was the most realistic - and strangest - one I'd ever had.

Carryovers
21/36
Oktoberfest
COMMUNITY - #1 (loc 652, 34%)
I needed a place to hide. Was there anywhere better than a community of paranoid geezers?
DISTRICT
FAIRGROUNDS
FESTIVAL - #1 (loc 795, 42%)
"Not like this. And not during the festival. Ever. You have to do something." "What? What am I supposed to do? I can't control the weather!" Could I?
INTERNATIONAL - #3 (loc 2709, 92%)
"Colton's father is an international business guru. He can apparently turn dirt into profit."
KEG - #4 (loc 6272, 57%)
"Even Votan has a son." The God of Death and War is a father? I definitely need to drink a keg. ASAP.
MALT
OCTOBER - #4 (loc 5108, 46%)
Despite the warm, muggy day-much too warm for October, in my book.
PRETZEL - #2 (loc 1508, 31%)
She didn't want him twisting himself into a pretzel trying to please her. She just wanted…him.
SEASON - #1 (loc 1482, 78%)
I looked at Liza askance. "Season a cauldron?" And I had spell ingredients? I definitely wasn't in Kansas, or Bel Air, anymore.
STEIN
YEAST
Attic Treasures
ALBUM - #3 (loc 166, 6%)
All of her mother's jewelry, a small shoebox of keepsakes, three photo albums, and the accordion file that held all of her legal papers.
COBWEBS - #1 (loc 1026, 54%)
I was relieved to see no cobwebs hanging in the corners.
COMIC [BOOKS]
CRIB - #4 (loc 204, 2%)
Worst of all, those babies had such an evil vibe. When he'd met them, he could've sworn he'd heard Satanic chanting coming from their cribs.
FUTON
INSTRUMENTS - #2 (loc 3789, 78%)
"Can you play any instruments?" " Nuh-uh. But I will use Claudia's head like a bongo if she doesn't stop staring at Bracken. Does that count?"
VIDEO GAME - #2 (loc 2081, 43%)
"When I was a kid, I wanted to be a video game designer. You?" "I wanted to be a sports announcer."
Burger Choices
ANCHOVIES
BEET - #5 (loc 185, 4%)
"Thank you!" I exclaim, planting a kiss on his cheek. He nearly turns beet red.
BLEU CHEESE - #3 (loc 112, 4%)
"They smelled like death and old cheese. It was disgusting."
BOLOGNA - #4 (loc 8042, 73%)
As for uneducated, well, that was a big ol' pile of last week's bologna.
CHEDDAR
GUACAMOLE
JALAPEÑO - #4 (loc 8108, 74%)
Patrons sat around nibbling on cotton candy from the cotton candy bar, featuring forty different flavors, including jalapeño and bacon.
MAYONNAISE - #2 (loc 3776, 78%)
"What did she do? Oh, I'll tell you. She put freaking mayonnaise into what I thought were custard fucking doughnuts."
ONION - #2 (loc 2626, 54%)
The delicious scents of grilled meat, fried onions, and the buffet foods filled the air.
SWISS
TARTAR SAUCE
TOMATO - #1 (loc 127, 7%)
I had also started to question some of the muted arguments I'd overheard - eavesdropped on, tomato, tomahto - and dubious cash exchanges filtering through the accounts.
Cooking
AL DENTE
PARE
Music
ALTO
State Fair
BUMPER CARS - #1 (loc 631, 33%)
I dreamt I was on the Titanic. The boat was going down, but I was in a mad race to get away from tomato-throwing zombies. At least it wasn't in slow motion, but the red bumper car I was in was only slightly quicker than a lawnmower.
CORNCHILI DOG - #5 (loc 881, 18%)
I once made two people fall in love in only four minutes. At a gas station. While they were eating chili dogs. Yeah. I'm badass like that.
