Week 1 Sunday - Rolled 6 - Now on Spot 11I read Alternate - A book from Friendship shelf
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman 7 friendship on page 5 of topshelves
On page 38 of Popular Friendship Books
Date Finished: 11/17-14
Rating: ****
Review:
This was really good and as weird as Neil Gaiman's books often are. All the different factions in Neverwhere trying to get along or not and it seems some people have lived for centuries. Richard being an unlikely hero and Door looking for the killer of her family. Travelling through Neverwhere is interesting and I wouldn't mind reading more books set in this world.

Read: Silk Is for Seduction by Loretta Chase

Review: I like Historical Fiction books with really strong leading ladies! This novel was similiar to Sarah Morgan and I really enjoyed it. The scenes were steamy and the dialogue was humorous. Definately a five star read!

The Wind Your Voice, The Rain Your TearsReview: Oh boy. When I started this book I thought this one would be a 5 star read for sure. I mean I couldn't even fall asleep thinking of the first part of the book. I kept getting teary then I'd have to get up and blow my nose. It was driving me nuts...in a good way. Yeah, then I kept reading. Wait, what just happened? Oh hell, again?! You have got to be freaking kidding me! That was my inner dialogue....fascinating, huh? This was like some crazy soap opera exploded and left all the crazy in the pages of my book! So much potential and I'll definitely be reading the next book by this author but I'm really, really hoping there's an editor involved in the next one.

Review:
Peter and Santa are orphans and have been brought up by their aunt who didn't give them a very good schooling but taught them that they were better than everyone else. When they, after her death, run away to avoid separate orphanages and come to the circus they find out how little they know. Peter has a very tough time of it and is very annoying till he find his love of horses.
It is a book of growing up, finding out what you want in life and the hard work to get there. This is a children's story and of course has a happy ending.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous two books. It was enjoyable, but I had some problems with it too. I will continue with series, I do like the characters.
Just a reminder:Thanksgiving-Teams will roll the Sunday before (11/23, no roll on Thursday (11/27), and that roll's deadline will be Sunday (11/30) and at this point the game resumes it's normal schedule.
If you don't think you can manage this week's roll due to the holiday just let me or your captain know. Thanks!
Suzanne is good about posting, she might run a hair late sometimes but she reads a lot lol. I'm sure she'll pop in soon.
Yes, I guess we should do it as late as possible. danielle where are you time wise when the deadline is?Deadline with me is 7am and I can get up at 6.30 to roll if you need me to.
Deadline with me is 6am. I'm usually awake not long after 6, but with needing to roll before that I was going to put alarm on for 5.45am.
If that is okay with you, then I will let you do it. And hope that Suzanne has been on before then, else we will use our free pass as you mentioned.
D, this week is kinda informal. Since you're up not long past the deadline just roll when you get up, no need to set an alarm :)
Sorry been busy this weekend cleaning up our house!Roll 3: Space 13

Read: The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Date: 11/22/2014

Review: This book was not very good, I had a hard time paying attention to it. For a good third of the book there was no discernable plot other than "We've been attacked by aliens." It was like I Am Legend + The Host and it did not work for me at all. I didn't care for the main female character, but when they started talking about Ben I got more interested because he wasn't whining.

Holy hot sex! Wow, there is a lot of sex in this book. I mean A LOT!! It's like they can't be anywhere near each other without someone reaching for the other's bits. Most of the story was a lot on the mushy side and I hate the endearment "darling" which was used a whole lot. Who says that? Anyways, it was an entertaining read and there really was a bit of a story line in between all the smexing. I'd probably have given it 3 stars but upped it due to the deliciousness of many of those scenes. I need a fan!

Review:
Another book I have had on my TBR list for ages. Syd is half witch, half demon and just want to be ordinary. She is 16 and just can't wait till she is 18 so she can have her powers removed. Of course she instead needs to use her powers to save her family and during this finds out a lot more about her own powers. A lot of teenage high school angst and bullying in this book as well.

I liked this one. I enjoyed it more than the authors Marked Men series. Bax was an interesting character, very realistic. Bax and Dovie were opposites, but they complimented each other. Definitely looking forward to Race's book.
Okay. I will be out most of the day but will most likely check in once or twice. As far as I can see her chosen book for this week has been marked as read so it is just the review.
I changed my book, I picked a standalone instead!Roll 4: Space 18

Read: Yes Please by Amy Poehler
Date: 11/30/2014
Rating: *****
Review: So after reading the reviews on this book, I think everyone was a bit too harsh. I LOVED this book, I got it on audio and Amy Poehler was the narrator. It wasn't Bossypants, I think this book was more inspirational and self-helpish and Tina Fey's book was more autobiographical. I still loved it though and I can't wait to see what she does after Parks and Rec.

Space 11
First In Series
Read: 11/17/14
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: Something about this book didn't really work for me. I can't pinpoint what it was though. We have Dane who is just out of the military with PTSD (we only really see it twice) and Josh who is Dane's best friend's brother. Dane is staying at Josh's family's ranch and they start this weird relationship. I didn't really see it as a relationship so much as a kind of brutal booty call. It's supposed to be angsty but the only angst I felt was regarding Josh's horse. And the bully of the story was never really dealt with at all. It all just fell kind of flat for me.
