I am reading A Brief History of 7 Killings. It is one of the most ambitious books I have ever read. Cannot wait to review it. Brutal and honest writing is rare. I can see why he won the Booker for this. Review should be up soon. If you cannot handle heavy, this book is really not for you.
Finished The Ambleside Alibi
and The Woman Who Loved the Moon & Other Stories
.Now reading
Black Maria and A Dirty Death
.
Read a non fiction essay collection for a change - Churchill's Black Dog and Other Phenomena of the Human Mind
- but wasn't so keen on that. Finished
which was a great read. Have now started Daphne Du Maurier's The House on the Strand
.Enjoying Black Maria a lot as well.
Since my last update, I finnished The Pale Horseman by Bernard Cornwell. Then I read Rangeela Tales- Book 1, Rangeela Tales- Book 2, and Rangeela Tales- Book 3, by Gita V. Reddy. After that, I read Globular Van der Graff's Goblin Tales for Adults by Jack Eason, and RENOVO Grounded by Geoffrey Wakeling. Now I'm reading Quicksilver by Toni Dwiggins.
Right now I'm reading "Doha 12". So far it has been a good read, action, twists and turns that keep me turning the pages.
Currently reading "The Wolf Almanac" by Robert Busch! The Wolf Almanac, New and Revised: A Celebration of Wolves and Their World
Robert H. Busch
Very engaging! I can barely put it down! It provides a great overview of every aspect of the wolf's behavior and historical relationship to humans.

I'm reading The Winter Palace: A Novel of Catherine the Great. Having earlier read Robert Massie's non-fiction title Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman is a great help with the who's who in the cast of historical figures.
Just finished The Man at the Wheel
So barmy. (British, eh wot?) A newspaper reporter and a poet/cop on the trail of a dodgy American evangelist. I was braying with laughter, but then I also adored Benny Hill's soliloquies. (What I could understand of them, at least.)
I've finnished Quicksilver, and also read Badwater. Now I'm reading Volcano Watch. All three books are from the same series by Toni Dwiggins.
A classic: Treasure Island by R.L. Stevenson. Most of the movies followed the plot pretty well, but the book is a whole new experience -- especially the dialog which is filled with English slang of the period (and often leaves me wondering what it means).
The pretty islands they used in the movies are replaced by a foreboding, dark land with swamps and a dense forest. I'm just under 1/2 way through it.
I've recently finished reading The Darker Side by Cody McFadyen. Here are my thoughts:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
★★★★★I totally recommend The Eighth Day (bullet time meets manchurian candidate)
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Man at the Wheel (PTL Club / british-style)

And All that we touch (read it for the beauty of the prose and the dream-like mystery)

All of these came to me from Net Galley.
In the middle of No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II Fascinating and touching. Eleanor Roosevelt had her flaws, but she was standing up for the rights of black Americans when few white people were. She was savagely criticized for it. In those days racists weren't at all ashamed of themselves.
I'm currently finishing up the Throne of Glass series with Queen of Shadows.
Pretty darn good and has me feeling a bit high on fantasy. lol
Think I'll pick up a contemporary book after.
just finished thrones of glass which ended up being a huge surprise. i loved it and wrote a review.just starting rogue waves. cant wait to see where it goes.

Lance, great read, IMHO. I really like the way you separated the various viewpoints during the action scenes. Have other readers had comments about that particular method for keeping straight what is happening by viewpoint? Review in at GR and will post to Amazon.
I've finnished Volcano Watch by Toni Dwiggins, and also read Skeleton Sea (by the same author). Now I'm reading The Healer by C.J. Anaya.
J. wrote: "I really like the way you separated the various viewpoints during the action scenes. I tried to get across the inherent confusion of big multi-player fights without actually confusing readers -- it's good to know I succeeded.
Thanks for your kind words, and thanks for posting reviews! Every one helps. If you haven't already, you might take a look at my other book to see if it interests you.
I finnished The Healer by C.J. Anaya. Then I read Bloody Zombies by Victoria Leybourne, and Zombie Messiah by Eric Mead. Next I'm planning to read Ixeos by Jennings Wright.
Just finished A Child Across the Sky by Jonathan Carroll. Now reading The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag by Alan Bradley, an interesting mystery with a 11 year old protagonist, 2nd in a series it turns out.
Just finished a reprint of the 1937 murder mystery--procedural:Flowering Death
A good four star offering:
