I'm finished with the Titanic book and now I'm reading a novel by my favorite historical fiction author, Lynn Austin. This one's called Though Waters Roar, and so far it's an exciting novel about a girl trying to make a difference in the post-Prohibition era of the United States.
I'm finishing up The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin and it's fabulous. It takes a standard fantasy trope, a young person pulled into royal politics and intrigue, and makes it into a wonderful read! I'm excited to finish it up.
I have just finished reading Mythical: Flying High, a bit of a disappointment and
better than I expected.
I have recently finished "The Lies of Locke Lamora" and am now reading "Red Seas under Red Skies" I liked them both although I usually don't like books that glorify crime.
I'm reading The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen. Great story so far, with a witty and compelling outsider of a main character offering a unique view of American culture.
Just finished Dissonant by Christina McMullen. Currently I'm reading Operators and Things: The Inner Life of a Schizophrenic, an off-beat book from 1958, and the only book written by Barbara O'Brien. I became interested in it because of a recent review by a Goodreads friend.
Just finished Terry Pratchett's 'Mort'. Lovely tongue-in-cheek stuff. What a shame he died, though probably better for him sooner rather later.
I just finished Other Powers by Barbara Goldsmith. Non-fiction about the intersection of the suffragist and spiritualist movements, the sexual misconduct of preacher Henry Ward Beecher and the ex-prostitute, medium who ran for president. Fascinating stuff. Now I'm reading the 2nd book in the Witches of East End series because I miss the t v show so much and as a break from the books I'm reading for research.
I'm currently reading The Autobiography of an Ex-Colored Man by James Weldon Johnson. It was initially published anonymously in 1912. It's a wonderful read — highly recommend it!
That's a great idea, Victoria! I've made a link out of the book I'm reading. If you click it, I believe you should be able to add it to your wish to read list. :)
Victoria wrote: "Is there a way to click on these tiles somehow and put them in a want to read list?"Yes, click on it and hit Want To Read underneath.
I am currently reading Makennan Novantumus, Book I: A Sorcerer's Onus by Conjurey Bound by John Sloat. It is a good fantasy book so far.
Just finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky and just started How Did I Get Here: The Ascent of an Unlikely CEO by Tony Hawk.
I am reading The Stories of Breece D'J Pancake, who took his own life while a graduate student at the University of Virginia in 1979. Several of his stories had been published in The Atlantic Monthly, and he had won several awards. The stories are dark, beautiful portrayals of life in coal-mining West Virginia, where Pancake grew up. As a 1979 graduate of UVa with familial roots in the hills and hollows of Virginia, I find this familiar territory and lament the loss of a special voice.
Currently just past the middle of George R R Martin's A Feast for Crows. It is SO long and detailed and boring I am just trying to get through it.
I am currently reading Guardian Mine: 1 by T.M. Slay. I just finished The Journey of the Marked by Rebecca P. McCray. My review of that book can be found here.
I just finished The Book Thief, which is wonderfully written once you get used to the unusual format. I'm now starting The Bad Beginning in the Series of Unfortunate Events.
Just finished The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. My review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The last book I finished was "Skin Cage" by Nico Laeser. It's absolutely brilliant.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'm in the middle of reading two books on historical espionage One is called the Great Courses: Espionage and Spying and the other is a short story called the duel by Casanova. I just finished reading a book called Slave Ship, which I don't recommend if you're disturbed by the darker side of American history.
I'm reading my first Stephen King book, Carrie. I'm not a huge fan of the writing all that much. Its not my favorite but its not bad either. I don't think the book is all that creepy as it is just really sad. A book I read recently was Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi. Pretty interesting and gritty world. I like the idea of it. You guys should give it a read. :D
I am one of those people who often reads several books at the same time - although it's gotten a little out of hand now, since I'm currently reading five... oops. These are the ones:Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking
The Book Thief
A Dance with Dragons
De erfenis van Richard Grenville (re-read)
The Belgariad, Vol. 1: Pawn of Prophecy / Queen of Sorcery / Magician's Gambit (re-read)
Especially the latter is a book I would most definitely recommend. The Belgariad by David Eddings is a great story about a young boy who tags along on a quest. I won't spoil too much, but it's a great read :).

Wow Maddy, five books at one time! :) I recently read The Book Thief. It took me awhile to get into the writing style, but as the book progressed it got better.
Yes, it took me a while to get into it, too, but I'm growing on it :).Five books is a lot for me, too, haha. I usually read two, sometimes three at a time. It's nice to be able to pick something depending on my mood.
Just started reading The Promise by Chaim Potok, published in 1969 by Random House. It is the sequel to Mr. Potok's #1 bestseller The Chosen, the movie version of which starred Robby Benson and Rod Steiger.
I'm actually re-reading Book Marketing Guide. Smashwords Book Marketing Guide For fiction, I just finished Snake Skin by CJ Lyons and I really enjoyed it. Fast paced, a strong protagonist that's very grounded in her family while she works as an FBI agent dealing with the not so pleasant side of human nature. It was my first read of her books but will be reading more of them. Snake Skin

"The Book Thief" made me weep. Gorgeous book.
Just finished "The Other Inheritance" by Rebecca Jaycox and "Awaken: The New Bloods Trilogy (Volume 1)," two YA stories. Both excellent.Just starting "The Believers" by 13-year-old author Megan Pickering, and "The Coldest Heart" by Helen Rena.
I started reading Argo: How the CIA & Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History today. And just finished The Secret Year, which wasn't very good.
David wrote: "I started reading Argo: How the CIA & Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History today. And just finished The Secret Year, which wasn't very good."I didn't realize Argo was a book. I'll have to check it out. The movie was excellent.
Just finished reading Isaac Asimov's final novel Forward the Foundation, and I'm not a fan. See my review at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Next I plan to reread the original itself, Foundation.
