Reached the half-way point of Obama's "A Promise Land" and taking a break from the thought-provoking read. Time to switch genres and I'm eagerly awaiting Danielle Steel's "Finding Ashley,"
Reading
, Band of Sisters which I'm enjoying. It's also available as an audiobook which I've heard is wonderful!
Another great installment in a cozy mystery series.A Tourist's Guide to Murder (Mystery Bookshop, #6) by V.M. Burns

I just finished Danielle Steel's Finding Ashley' and loved the read!
#FindingAshley provided charismatic characters and timely issues such as the Me Too Movement. Mel's heartbreaking isolation, rocky relationship with her sister and an unexpected reunion, will have readers crying and smiling through their tears.
"It's like a kaleidoscope, all the bright pieces get shaken up and form a new design periodically...It all happens the way it's meant to , even if we don't like it at times. But there is always a new chapter." Danielle Steel 'Finding Ashley'

Sulari Gentill's exceptional Rowland Sinclair historical mystery series takes her four Australian characters to 1930's Shanghai in Shanghai Secrets. What a terrifying place it was - but a great read!

The Vineyard at Painted Moon by Susan Mallery
When Mackenzie Dienes visited her roommate's home, her life forever changed. Stephanie's brother became her husband and she was adopted by his family. Mackenzie painted the perfect life for herself until cracks appeared in its fragile façade.
Suddenly the vineyard was no longer a safe place and she needed to forge a new life. While growing a new future, her mother-in-law casts her out of the family. As her new life takes root, Mackenzie is forced to confront her past and what she's willing to accept.
I enjoyed watching Mackenzie's confidence bloom. While her future is on the 'vine' she bravely stands her ground to protect Painted Moon's future.

I am just under halfway and absolutely loving Stealing Time by Rebecca Bowyer
It's certainly thought provoking....but so was her other book Maternal Instinct by Rebecca Bowyer too
I've not read any of Jeffery Deaver's work before, so his short story Turning Point was my introduction. Loved it! Finding RDK, the Russian Doll Killer, was cleverly done.
4.5★ Link to my Turning Point review
Shuggie Bain, the autobiographical novel by Scottish-born author Douglas Stuart, tells of a loving, queer, little boy who adores his beautiful, alcoholic mum. It is heart-breakingly wonderful! Well-deserved winner of the 2020 Booker Prize.

Got to one of my older ARCs, a contemporary romance.

I have just finished reading Stealing Time by Rebecca Bowyer and loved it, really interesting and has you thinking long after you have finished reading it. I am also still reading The History Of Sweets by Paul Chrystal and that is a fascinating read.
One of my missed ones from last year, a historical romance.

This is designed for little kids, but adults will enjoy seeing how Charles Darwin made the scientific discoveries that changed our understanding of the world. Need I add that every school should have this one?

Historical fiction fans, #TheParisDressmaker is designed to be February's fashionable read. Based on true accounts, the women of Paris provided their own resistance during World War II.

Gopher Golf: A Wordless Picture Book by Karl Beckstrand is exactly that - many pages of pictures. There are enough varied scenes for a little kid to follow as a story and then be encouraged to "tell" a story themselves. Lots of laughs!
3.5★ Link to my Gopher Golf review with several illustrations to give you the idea
Mick Herron, when interviewed about his latest spy thriller Slough House, recently said "I look at Jackson Lamb and think: My God, did I write that? My mother reads this stuff!" Well, on behalf of mothers and grandmothers everywhere, I say - Keep up the good work!
